Goodyear  Eagle LS

Better than expected... I almost made it to 60,000 miles and now need new ones. No problems on traction, wet, snow or dry. Low road noise too. I would buy again if cost was reasonable. What I call reasonable is if it is cheaper than Michelin or Continental.

I replaced Michelin's Cross Terrain for a new set of Goodyear Eagles LS due to unrepairable flat and significant ware out on remaining tires.

There is not many tires available in this particular size and they are a special order tires almost everywhere. Despite not the very best ratings on Tire Rack site, I decided to give it a try to Eagles due to the price and next day availability.

I must say that these tires brought back the comfort and quiet ride to my MO.

Comparing to Michelin's they are softer and cornering is not as stiff however Eagles "stick" to the pavement like a suction cups. Also Eagles are great in the rain - you do not feel any difference between dry and wet road. They are excellent when braking on wet and dry. I do not know if this is all so nice just because they are brand new and I compare them to fairly worn out Cross Terrains but I hope they will stay the way they are.

I will not be able to comment on the Eagles ride in the snow as I have a set of the Blizzak's and I have to drive on winter tires to comply with the local law.

I can recommend this tire to anyone who is looking for a safety, comfort and quite ride.

BTW I had OEM Goodyear tires many years ago on my Honda and I hated them.

I am glad that I gave Eagles a try. So far I am happy about my choice.

I don't understand the rating of these tires on here. Before these I had a set of Primacy MXV4 and ContiProContact, and if i were to take low and high speed turns with those the way I do with these Eagle LS tires, I'd end up causing an accident. They just don't hold the road as well, yet the ratings suggest the complete opposite. Also, treadwear is excellent considering my spirited driving style, probably because they don't slide all over the place. Wet traction is good and comparable to the MXV4.

Bottom line : great dry performance, fun, and will probably wear at the same rate as a higher rated mileage tire when driven aggressively.

NOT GOOD THEN. NEITHER TIRE SEEMS TOO RESONSIVE IN CORNERING, BUT THEN AGAIN NEITHER DOES THE EQUINOX! RIDE COMFORT IS SUPERIOR TO OE TIRES. AND PERFORMANCE IS NOT DEGRADED, IF ANYTHING, IT MAY BE A BIT BETTER

These tires were original equipment with my 2000 Grand Cherokee Ltd.,and I have to admit that for my driving style they performed much better than anyone could expect. They were quiet,and smooth as could be on the street,and highway,and traction was very good for a performance tire. I do plan to put a set of Forteras on soon, because I want the absolute best tire for my vehicle for all year round. I appreciate traction the most from a tire,but comfort,and quiet do count in there as well as one can expect. There is NO perfect tire for all applications, so we have to find the best tire for our own liking,and driving.

I have to admit,I do rotate my tires every 3000 miles,with an oil change,so that does help to keep the tires in good shape. Now,with over 31,000 miles on these,there is still plenty of tread left for one more year,and then Ill put the Forteras on,and let you know how they do.

These tires came on my Scion when bought new. I drove it for about 5K miles until I was fed up with no performance and scary wet weather travel. Even after filling the tires with over 40psi, they rolled and screamed around corners. Wet weather was worse. Hydroplanes way too easy, and worked the ABS system when braking even a little aggressive. Smooth ride and quiet is about all these have as a positve. I switched over to some V rated Kumhos for the summer and some Dunlop Graspics for the winter. Both are a thousand times better/safer!

These tires came OE on my Audi. They are rotated at my Audi dealership when the instructions call for it. The front tires are going bald at 30k, and wet traction leaves something to be desired. I live in a state where it raines alot in the summer, and these tires do not do the trick. Also, they squeel alot in dry when cornering or accelerating from a stopped position. I wish Audi would change their minds about putting this tire on the OE list.

These tires came OE on my Neon in an extremely odd size making it hard to not buy Goodyears again. Where these budget tires, they would be fine, but they are nowhere near worth the purchase price. 25,500 and the tires are all but shot. They lose grip easy, wear terribly, flat spot easily. By the second rotation (10,000), the corners were showing signs of wear. They are a cheap touring tire price like a performacne tire, primarily designed to ride quietly and smoothly, which they excel at. Grip in wet weather is poor to scary, almost like a summer tire. Any other tire is a better value.

These are OEM tires (225/60/16) and with 70% hwy/30% city driving and with 6,000 mile tire rotation intervals, Im disappointed getting only 30,000 miles of treadlife. The first 20,000 miles of tread were OK. But since then they have been a disappointment.



The tires had good grip on turns (i.e. driving a paved canyon road), but wet traction is terrible as is the noise level. Extra, extra caution is advised if driving down a canyon road while raining (or if you drive over wet pavement). These tires do not like water. And the combination of a wet pavement while making a turn requires extra attention or a form of hydroplaning/loss of traction will occur. With southern California driving, I do not know how they would perform under snowy conditions.



Having researched for a new set of 4 tires, looks like Ill be buying Yokohama Avid Touring tires. Everyone seems to like them, they have a long tread life and are not over-priced (i.e.Michelins). One thing the Yokos are not is a peformance tire; which is OK with me for Im no longer a teenager behind the wheel of a Chevy 350 V8 :)

Just passed 42,000 miles on the tires and they need to go. And I'm not sad to say goodbye. They've been loud for too long - especially when cornering. Snow traction is the worst of any all season tire I've ever had. They were OE on my Murano and I'll be happy to spend a few extra dollars for better traction, better grip, and less noise.

I cant wait til these wear out (another 5K at the most). Even with traction control they spin in the rain from a stand still, even under mild acceleration. They are worthless in snow!

If I were Goodyear, I would be ashamed to have my name on these tires. There is no treadwear warranty. They came as standard equipment on my car. I like the ride, and cornering, but wet traction is not good, and at 18,000 the tread was bare. Not worth any price.

I am very agressive when driving and these tires just dont give me the prefomance I would expect from a goodyear tire. If the pavement is wet, forget about getting any grip. Wear is also disapointing, I rotated every 6,000 miles and only have 39,00 miles on ther tires and will need to replace them by winter. Will not get them again, and could make a difference next time I buy a new car.

I have 23.5K miles of mostly highway driving in S. Florida. The negatives on this tire far outweigh the positives.



Positives: OK wet and dry traction, no problem with hydroplanning in Florida downpours.



Negatives: Tires started feathering at 3,500 miles. Dealer stated it was a "feature" of these tires, as they were having the same problem with all the Goodyear LSs on V-6 Galants. They recommended rotating every 3K miles. Vibration started around 10K. Had the tires balanced several times to no avail. They are extremely noisy as well, even on asphalt roads.



I am now replacing with Bridgestones 950s. Will write after 5K miles or so for an updated.
