The Ecsta PS91 is Kumho's Max Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of performance sedans, sports cars and sport coupes who want a tire with performance that matches the capabilities of their top-level automobiles. High-speed performance and handling in the dry and wet are emphasized, and like all summer tires, the Ecsta PS91 is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Kumho Ecsta PS91Formula 3 racing tire technology trickles down to the mainstream in the Ecsta PS91 with a new Carbon Black and Silica compound utilizing Max Grip Performance Resin to create maximum performance potential. Handling, responsiveness and high-speed stability are emphasized through enhanced block stiffness created by the C-Cut 3D design and the notched, continuous center rib. The 3D Dimple Design heat dimples minimize thermal buildup in the tread blocks, improving durability during hard use. Four wide, circumferential grooves evacuate water from beneath the contact patch, increasing hydroplaning resistance and wet handling.

The internal construction consists of a strong, two-ply rayon cord casing supporting two wide, high-tensile strength steel belts. High-speed capability is further bolstered with two full-width nylon reinforcement cap plies for improved handling responsiveness, stability and durability.

...Wet traction is excellent as well as hydroplaning resistance...

The best combination of traction, treadwear and price that I have ever purchased. As a max performance tire the dry traction on a hot day is unbelievable. I grew up on Michelins and Pirelli and Dunlop D40 and Goodyear wingfoot and this tire is like slicks. They pick up gravel and stones like gumballs even after 2000miles. There are raceflags imprinted on the tread with gradations so I can precisely measure treadwear across the width and the projected life is easily over 20,000 miles. Made two round trips from FLL to ATL and are much quieter than stock. Wet traction is excellent as well as hydroplaning resistance. Minor flatspotting overnite that goes after 5 miles. For the first time I can really experience how good the car is designed. You get deep in a corner and roll on the gas coming out and the grip is so good that you can dictate the speed or slip angle of the exit while holding the racing line with total predictability. When I first looked at the price I thought it was a closeout and the reviews were sparse. Took a chance after reading about the technology behind the design and rubber. Even now I walk to the car and still smell the rubber. Will probably buy another set and put them in storage as the price can only go up once the word gets out.

These PS91's have lasted longer than the GY F1 Asymmetrical and Nitto NT05's and provide better dry and wet grip. I have 16,000 miles on this set and will be due for new set soon. This includes several AutoX's, 2 trips to the mountains , and a track day. Normally you have to give up so much to get a cheaper tire, not with the PS91's. The only thing the GY's and the Nitto had on these is the those had a little stiffer side walls. I'm definitely glad I gave them a try.

...It rained yesterday heavy and these tires handled amazingly with no slipping! I was seriously shocked!...

These tires are excellent! I live in housotn tx, and the roads here are bumpy and we do have some food turns and these tires shine flawlessly! It rained yesterday heavy and these tires handled amazingly with no slipping! I was seriously shocked! But mind you i have put 900 miles on the tires. These tires really woke up my 2015 civic si in the handling department and braking! If you have a honda civic si 9th geni recommend these tires!

I will revisit my rating once I have more driving experiences. I will say that they are a marked improvement over the OEM Pirelli P Zeros. The Pirellis would hop whenever I slowly backed out of a parking space and or turn sharply going forward when I exited a parallel parking spot. This behavior stopped with the new Kumos. The price point is exceptional compared to its competitors. So far, very happy with my purchase.

...These Kumho's have been phenomenal. I have 6,000 miles on them, and they haven't lost grip and still have as much grip as they did when new...

I put these on my 2008 Ford Mustang to replace the horrid, 400 treadware all-season P-zero Nero's.

All I can say is WOW. These Kumho's have been phenomenal. I have 6,000 miles on them, and they haven't lost grip and still have as much as grip as they did when new.

For comparisons sake, these tires DESTROY the BFG G-Force Sport Comp-2's that I had on my last mustang, and the Hankook Ventus V12's I have on my BMW. These Kumho's are better in literally every way (Grip, feel, longer lasting, etc.) AND are cheaper.

If you want to put long lasting performance tires on your vehicle for a decent price, I honestly think these Kumho's are hard to beat.

My only complaint is that they flat spot if you don't drive your car for a couple days, but driving the car for 3-4 miles gets the flat spot out. Besides that, these tires are absolutely awesome. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

...After deciding many different options looking at forums and friends' advice, I decided to go with the PS91's since its aggressive tread pattern looked grippy enough for the street (no track use at the moment)... So far I've just done about 1,000 miles on the tires, and after they got ran-in, the grip that started coming along was from another league when compared to the stock tires... I push my car a lot, and being FWD, the front tires show no signs of stress or wear so far...

I changed the stock Continental ContiSport tires on my A3 Sedan at around 2,000 miles since I was unhappy with the grip they had, the car would just wheelspin all the time, triggering traction control, and on turns the car would push excessively on corner entry. After deciding many different options looking at forums and friends' advice, I decided to go with the PS91's since it's aggressive tread pattern looked grippy enough for the street (no track use at the moment) and it barely rains here, so I don't have any issues with wet grip of hydroplaning. So far I've just done about 1,000 miles on the tires, and after they got ran-in, the grip that started coming along was from another league when compared to the stock tires (which I think ---- tbh). I push my car a lot, and being FWD, the front tires show no signs of stress or wear so far. I'm quite happy with my purchase and recommend them to A3/S3 owners, especially if tires are an important mod factor for you and are on a budget.

...They were comfortable, quiet, and responsive...

Replaced a set of Bridgestone S04s with these tires. While I quite enjoyed them, they simply didn't last anywhere near as long as the Pole Positions. Granted I was very impressed with the longevity of those tires as I got 20k miles out of them, including 2 track days.

I put a one track day on these tires early on in their life, and they didn't hold up nearly as well (lots of chunking). This most likely accelerated the wear process significantly as now, 6500 miles later one of the tires has had the the outer tread completely separate from the carcass, requiring that I replace them.

These tires were very good on the street, and I imagine I could have gone 10k miles if I hadn't tracked them. They were comfortable, quiet, and responsive. Considering the S04s aren't that much more though, and they lasted so much longer even with more abuse, I will most likely be purchasing those again.
