The Solus TA31 is Kumho's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of sporty coupes, sedans and crossover vehicles. It's used as Original Equipment on the Chrysler 200, Hyundai Sonata and Kia Soul urban crossover vehicles. Solus TA31 tires are designed to blend responsive handling, long wear and a comfortable ride with all-season traction, even in light snow.
Kumho's all-season tread compound is molded into a five-rib symmetric design featuring a continuous center rib flanked by notched intermediate ribs and large shoulder blocks to deliver predictable handling, year-round traction and even wear. Four circumferential grooves and lateral notches promote hydroplaning resistance by evacuating water from under the footprint while engineered sipes increase the number of biting edges needed to enhance wet road and wintertime traction.
The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon on top of a polyester cord casing to blend strength, durability and ride comfort.

...For a street tire in the rain they almost grab the road as good as my Rain tires...
I did not have Kumho's B4 so this was my first set. I could not believe how good they gripped the road. I have raced Road race cars and done high speed AX. For a street tire in the rain they almost grab the road as good as my Rain tires. On the dry they have very good corner grip. I would buy again. Ron

...The wet traction has been amazing and hugs corners perfectly!...
My OEM tires have been phenomenal since I bought the car 2 years ago. I drive mostly highway ( 90%) a little City (10%). By 60k, I did notice the road noise get a little annoying but I don't pay attention to it much. Never tried heavy snow driving, I am a southern driver, but during an light freeze last year, traction began to slip a little more. Again it was past its 60k warranty. Wet traction has been amazing and hugs corners perfectly! My tires are getting to 3 32nds so its time to replace. I would definitely buy these tires again! Kumho has my back!

...I was surprised how well they gripped in the dry during some spirited driving...
These were the OE tires on my car and I’ve been patiently waiting for them to need replacing. Overall it’s not a terrible tire but I can only describe it as decent. I was surprised how well they gripped in the dry during some spirited driving. However that’s about the only positive I have for them.
The road noise is way more than I like. Having previously used Falken and Yokahoma for years these were a shock to my ears at highway speeds. Of course after 40k miles you tend to set used to it, but I just know there’s better out there in that regard for the price.
Wet weather performance has never been great. In the city they’re fine and will grip from a stop, but on a wet interstate they can be scary. And now at 40k miles they’re just dangerous. I was out the other day and it was raining moderately I’d say. Not a storm and not flooding, but a steady rainfall. I couldn’t get above 60mph without my traction control heavily kicking in.
I will be very happy to move on from these tires.

Good dry road traction and turn in after a couple of thousand wear in miles...
Good all around warm weather use. Good dry road traction and turn in after a couple of thousand wear in miles. Decent, but not great wet road traction. Below average light snow traction. Any hill in snow becomes a serious problem. One of only two tires available in my OEM size that are not full Winter/Ice tires. ( 195/60/16). For an inexpensive tire it's probably worth considering, but don't expect Winter traction or very long tread wear. I'll be going 205/55/16 on same wheel diameter next time and get a huge amount of choices. That will be max on 6 in. width wheels.

...They are very stable in dry conditions, and the noise level is quite low to boot...
These tires have lasted 55k miles so far on a Kia soul! that my girlfriend and I both drive. The tires have been through daily work trips through traffic into downtown, and several road trips. They are magnificent quality and with rotations every 7k -ish miles, they have worn EXCELLENTLY, better than almost any other tire I've owned. We will be seeking these again for replacements. They are very stable in dry conditions, and the noise level is quite low to boot. I'm really impressed with these tires.

...Customers report impressive treadwear performance: "I had no idea what the warranty was, but around 40,000 I figured I'd need to look at replacement like any typical OEM. Tread depth at that point was still 7-8 so problem. Got to 60K, still at 4-5. I'm currently approaching 75K and it appears they may finally be getting to 2-3."...
These were OEM tires. Never heard of this brand before I got the Hyundai. Heading into my fourth decade as a drive I've tried a lot of tires on a lot of vehicles and these are by FAR the best tires I have ever owned. I had no idea what the warranty was, but around 40,000 I figured I'd need to look at replacement like any typical OEM. Tread depth at that point was still 7-8 to so problem. Got to 60K, still at 4-5. I'm currently approaching 75K and it appears they may finally be getting to 2-3. I have used almost every other brand and currently have high end Michelin's on another car of ours that my garage was telling me to replace after 10K because they had already worn to 3-4 in 12 months. Being as upset as I was with that, I have been very impressed with the Kumho wear.
I am very confused with the snow comments and the road noise. Live in the snow belt, so think Buffalo, NY levels of snow at times, we average well over 100 inches a year. While they are not perfect, it has been rare that I would complain about these tires. Not sure if other raters expect a tire to never spin or what, or if they drive too fast for conditions. Sure if I'm trying to go 60 on an unplowed road this tire will not handle that. That's not the tires problem, that's the driver not knowing how to drive in snow. If you drive appropriately I would say you'll love this time in snow. I have had to head to work on unplowed roads with over 6 inches and was doing fine. I do not find the road noise to be anything I even notice even at this late stage as the tire is getting to end of life. I am getting ready to order another set, which is why I was on Tire Rack, to check prices. Was totally surprised by the overall low scores for a tire that has been the most awesome set I have ever owned. Felt I needed to offer up a contrary viewpoint as this is a tire I never want to see go away. I'll likely buy it for any car it will fit for the rest of my life.

...Bad wet traction and no winter traction at all, even with the AWD...
i have had these tires for 10,000 miles now, i am not that impressed with them. Bad wet traction and no winter traction at all, even with the AWD. The ride and noise level are good for a tire of this price range and the dry traction and ware is just ok, with 10,000 miles on them they have worn down to 3/4 tread, i dont see them lasting longer then 40,000 miles. If you just need a cheep tire that rides well and has low noise this tire works but if you have any bad weather or if you need it to last i would look at something different.

These tires were the OEM tires on my 2016 Veloster with the optional 18 inch wheels. They are fine tires for dry and wet conditions , but, man, come snow season , "forget about it " . I realize the Veloster has very little ground clearance , and, that dragging the chassis through deep snow is asking a lot of any tire , but, they slip and spin even on a somewhat plowed road. I am seriously considering buying dedicated snow tires and using the OEM tires for spring -fall , now i just have to find good snow tires are a reasonable cost !!
