The Energy Saver A/S is Michelin North America's most fuel-efficient All-Season Passenger car tire developed for the drivers of hybrid and fuel-efficient passenger cars that want to exploit their vehicle's fuel economy without abandoning dry, wet and wintertime traction. Representing the forefront of Michelin Green X technology, Energy Saver A/S tires can enhance vehicle operating efficiency and environmental impact by reducing fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions while delivering year-round traction, even in light snow.

Expanding on the technologies of the Michelin Energy Saver summer tires introduced in Europe during 2007, the Energy Saver A/S All-Season Passenger car tire introduced in North America during 2009 offers exceptionally low rolling resistance at or below the levels offered by its European summer tire counterpart.

The Energy Saver A/S features Michelin's EnergySaver Construction combined with a unique silica-based tread rubber that helps improve engine fuel efficiency by keeping the tire cooler. This compound is molded into a symmetric design that features siped, independent tread blocks to combine predictable handling, no compromise stopping performance and all-season traction without trading fuel efficiency. Circumferential and lateral grooves direct water through the tread design to help resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction.

Michelin Comfort Control Technology uses computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing to reduce vibrations and road noise to keep the vehicle quiet. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped polyamide on top of a polyester cord casing to combine strength, efficiency and comfort.

*Specific sizes featuring Green X technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Michelin Reviews

Owners report excellent treadwear with many ratings in the 9-10 range, highlighting long-lasting performance ideal for year-round touring use. Comfort receives strong praise for smooth ride quality and low noise levels. Winter traction shows mixed results, with some customers noting struggles on ice and in deep snow despite the all-season designation. Wet traction scores consistently in the 7-10 range, with reliable hydroplaning resistance for rainy conditions. Dry handling earns positive feedback for responsive steering and stable cornering, though a few drivers mention slightly reduced grip during aggressive maneuvers. The tire's durability and refined ride make it a practical choice for everyday commuting.

...Both dry and wet traction are just adequate to put my foot down comfortably - even under the torrential downpour in TX, or 2-4 inches of fresh snow in OK, whereas the vehicle feels lighter for acceleration and gets easier to maintain its speed...

Well balanced all around tire which I was so glad to pick. As soon as the vehicle has worn this tire, the ride became softer and smoother, and best of all; the vehicle turned out very quiet regardless of any road surface. I must confess that I did not realize how much road noise was pronounced until I replaced old Yoko to this Michelin. Now, I neither raise my voice up to communicate with the person who sits next to me nor crank the volume up to listen to my favorite music. Both dry and wet traction are just adequate to put my foot down comfortably - even under the torrential downpour in TX, or 2-4 inches of fresh snow in OK, whereas the vehicle feels lighter for acceleration and gets easier to maintain its speed.

Sure, some people might feel scary due to the coasting nature of low road resistance tire; but, hey, this is definitely not one of the Ultra High Performance All-Season tires. So, let's face it. We cannot have a great mileage and highest grip at the same time. There should be a tradeoff and we must understand the name of the game in the first place. Thus, if you are looking for a tire which allows you to do maximum attack on each and every corner, there are bunch of great tire out there. Instead, if you are looking for a moderate, well balanced tire with the great mileage as a bonus, please try one of these and I believe you will not be disappointed.

FYI, here are some additional numbers from our recent cross-country trip.
35.2mpg (from Albuquerque to Amarillo; 325.5miles/9.25gal)
35.5mpg (from Amarillo to Oklahoma City; 258.6miles/7.28gal)
The vehicle having 5MT carried two adults with full load of cargo. All we did was topped off Shell regular gasoline, set the cruise control at 60mph (in another word, the engine rev was kept at 2,500rpm), and enjoyed the view during the road trip. As I am not a Mileage expert, in a similar condition, my previous tire Yokohama Avid H4S gave me barely up to 31mpg. Not a bad choice to improve fuel efficiency about 13%!

...When it rains, the tires behave as if the pavement was dry...

These tires are awesome!

I work in Milwaukee, WI and live in Huron, OH. I drive back and forth every week or so (400 miles and 6.5 hrs one-way) and drive about 3,000-4,000 miles per month. I've had these tires for about 10,000 miles and driven thru just about any kind of weather & road condition you can imagine. My Honda Civic is a 5-speed with a 1.7 liter engine. I bought the Energy Saver AS tires because I want high mileage and low gasoline cost.

First, the tires are "Low Rolling Resistance." The very first time I let the clutch out after the tires had been mounted on my car, the car accelerated with ease. It took less engine speed and effort to start rolling. It was absolutely amazing how easy it is to start the car moving with these LRR tires. On the highway I cruise at the same speeds as before, but the engine operates at 50-100 fewer rpm.

The tires are QUIET! I had gotten rid of noisy tires when I got the Michelins. The Energy Saver AS tires are so quiet, it feels and sounds like the car is floating on air. I could not believe how much less effort my driving takes with these quiet tires. I don't feel exhausted when I reach my destination each trip.

TireRack had published their study comparing LRR tires and rated the Energy Saver AS tires Number 1. The ratings suggest a 5% mileage advantage with Michelin. I believe I get at least 5% better mileage with these tires. I travel the same routes consistently and easily get up to 44 mpg depending on road and weather conditions. My car's EPA mileage rating is 38 mpg max.

Last, the tires handle great on good or sloppy road surfaces. When it rains, the tires behave as if the pavement was dry. They handle great in snow, or on ice.

These tires are amazing. I can't wait for this set to wear out, so I can buy another set of 4.

A lot, and I mean a lot of people dislike these tires on their Chevy Bolt. Nearly every review I've read bash this tire's traction and wear. Whelp, I'm here to be in the minority and say that these tires have lasted well over what anyone could fathom and have done pretty well in the category of traction (wet and dry) when you take into consideration the amount of torque you see from EVs. I have over 55,000 miles on these, I'm a little ashamed of myself to say this, but I've never rotated the tires either. I bought the car new, with 8 miles on it, and no one has driven the car but me. I drive it like it's a go kart with full pedal acceleration in most cases. I don't baby the car or the tires, or the brakes... I don't know how I'm getting the miles I'm getting out of these, but zero complaints here in these tires. I'm doing some tire research because I'm thinking I'll need tires in about 3 months or so, and it's honestly going to be a tough choice to go to another brand/tire given these have been so good to me.

These were OEM on '12 Camry hybrid. I currently have 55K on the tires and 5/32 tread remains. Mileage is consistently 39 highway and low 40's in town. They have gotten a little noisier with more miles but still have a good ride. Driving hard, I have yet to have the car under-steer at speeds in curves 25 - 35 over psl. All this being said, this is a good dry condition tire and I would consider them if I start to alternate between all season tires, and snow tires in the winter...

All in all, I think this is a good tire. They came stock on my 2016 ford fusion and I got 50,000 miles out of them. I could probably get another 10,000 miles on these tires, but we're heading into winter in Northeast Ohio and I just don't trust them in winter conditions anymore. In fact, I would say that they're not very good winter tires at all. Experienced some moments of sliding even when the tires only had 10,000 miles on them. At their current mileage, they have started to hydroplane a bit. All this being said, this is a good dry condition tire and I would consider them if I start to alternate between all season tires, and snow tires in the winter. In most conditions, the tires are quiet and reliable, and good on fuel economy.

I haven't had a chance to see how they perform in rain however their handling and response time is very good...

I had the Michelin pilot sport tires on my 2007 Lexus 460 and with 20,000 miles on them and they were getting down to 4 to 5000 miles left so I decided to replace them. After much study I decided to get the Michelin Energy Saver A/S. I only have a couple of hundred miles on them but here are my obversations so far. I haven't had a chance to see how they perform in rain however their handling and response time is very good. They balanced very well and I was pleasantly surprised that they are as quite as they are. I am not sure about the mileage yet but it appears that it will increase over the previous tires. The all weather feature and the added mileage I expect to get were factors in buying these tires. I might add they give a nice ride as well. So far I am very pleased and would certainly recommend them.

...The handling was amazing on these tires and the ride was comfortable and quiet...

These tires came standard on my 2001 Honda Accord. I LOVED THEM!!!!! These were some of the best tires I have ever owned. I swaped them out after 60,000 miles because the tires were getting up there in age, but they definately had a lot of life left in them. The handling was amazing on these tires and the ride was comfortable and quiet. These are an excellent tires. I highly recommend them.

I have nearly 57000 miles on the tires and they will easily make 60,000 before needing to be replaced... I'm not sure how you can beat getting 60,000 miles out of a quiet tire with no traction issues...

I have a 2013 Fusion Hybrid with the OEM Michelins. I have nearly 57000 miles on the tires and they will easily make 60,000 before needing to be replaced. I live in northern Utah, so I've driven in snow and had no trouble. These tires have been fantastic. I'm not sure how you can beat getting 60,000 miles out of a quiet tire with no traction issues. No, I don't race this car, or drive aggressively, it's a hybrid with a wimpy 2 liter motor. For what the car is, and what the tires are expected to do, I can't be happier with these tires.

These are the worst tires I've ever had in the snow, including speed rated BFG Comp T/A VR4's I had on an old Mustang GT. Other than that, it's a good tire on dry roads, and handles well in wet conditions as well. So if you live in the Deep South, it may be a nice tire. For those of us that live in the mountains and need something that will perform in a few light snow and ice storms a year, it is unacceptable.

...But where they really fall down is in winter. Snow and ice are problems and, of course, we have our share of that in Minnesota... The Michelin Energy Saver A/S is not the answer. They might be fine in a warmer climate, but they don't suit those areas that have snow and ice.

I got these tires as OEM on a 2018 Kia Niro. They seem to ride fine, if you keep the pressure around 33. 35 or higher they get very rough. Tire noise is not a problem. Traction in wet seems ok, but not up to the Pirellis on my other car. But where they really fall down is in winter. Snow and ice are problems and, of course, we have our share of that in Minnesota. I suspect that they rubber is a bit harder to get increased gas mileage on the hybrid Niro. I don't know how long they will last, as I only have 10k miles, but might have to consider something else for next winter. I really don't want the hassle of winter tires (no real place to store them), so have always looked for an all season tire that leans towards winter performance. The Michelin Energy Saver A/S is not the answer. They might be fine in a warmer climate, but they don't suit those areas that have snow and ice.
