The LTX A/T2 is Michelin's On-Road All-Terrain light truck tire developed to meet the needs of today's recreational and commercial pickup, van and SUV drivers. It was designed to provide even wear, low noise and good fuel efficiency, even in demanding commercial applications while delivering the year-round traction and durability expected from rugged off-road tires without forsaking the on-road comfort and handling expected of a Michelin tire.
The LTX A/T2 features an advanced light truck tread rubber compound molded into an independent tread block tread design featuring Michelin Biting Edges (notched blocks in the tread pattern) that enhance traction on dirt, mud, gravel, wet grass and snow. Michelin's Advanced MaxTouch Construction results in a unique tire footprint shape that allows for long-lasting, even treadwear while their Comfort Control Technology uses computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing to reduce vibrations and road noise to deliver a comfortable ride. The tire's internal structure includes two or three steel belts depending on the tire's Load Range and manufacturing location to enhance durability and tread puncture resistance.

...Driven in wet snow and tire provided good traction even when pushed... Wet traction is very good as well...
Opted for a wider tire and went with the 245's. The extra width does add to more confidence in straight line and cornering stability. Have not noticed a difference in my overall mpg. Driven in wet snow and tire provided good traction even when pushed. Dry performance is great and best to date that I have tried on my pilot. Wet traction is very good as well. Just hoping that I can achieve the promised mileage that this tire is supposed to get and that other reviewers say they experienced. I definitely recommend these tires. No more noisy than the Nokian Vatavias I had on proir to this set. Did get to drive them on a little ice in a parking lot and they are not as good as a dedicated winter tire. That is the only weakness I can say the tire has...but that is not its intended purpose. Will follow up after I get through the winter season.

Excellent wet/dry traction; light snow is very good if you adjust air pressure correctly...
Excellent ride and wet/dry traction; light snow is very good if you adjust air pressure correctly; ice/hard-packed snow requires 4WD, which is what I expected for a tire not dedicated to winter use (no siping)
Deep snow is better than expected for a relatively mild tread (4WD use is about the same as other A/T tires), I think the open tread/cut-out shoulder has a lot to do with it (previous tires were closed shoulder)
Noise is evident above 45MPH if the window is down, even then it's just a slight, high pitched whine. Cornering is surprisingly good considering the truck is a nose-heavy diesel with DRW. I'll be watching tread wear closely since rotating on a dually with aluminum wheels is a PIA.
As I read the rest of the reviews, it's pretty obvious people do not take the time to adjust pressure for winter driving, or load ENOUGH ballast in the bed of their trucks. With 245/75E17s, I'm currently running 60psi in the front and 50psi in the rear (4) with 1200lbs of ballast, there's about 12" of snow on the ground and most secondary roads are unplowed. It's also important to adjust pressures for empty/loaded driving (I only run MAX PSI when towing my trailer which has 7,000lbs of hitch weight)
So far, I would rate these 2-3 points above the BFG Rugged Trail that came on the truck new. I like BFG's more agressive tires (M/T & Baja), but needed something more street worthy for my current application, and the Rugged Trail wasn't cutting it.
I'll check back in when I get more miles on these (treadwear) and start towing my 18,000lb 5th wheel (heavy towing stability)

...Those things hydroplaned a lot, even when new. So the LTX A/T2's were like switching on a light. Outstanding traction. No more hydroplaning...
If you want a comprehensive experience with these tires, you've got it. I purchased these in mid 2007, with 58,000 miles on my Xterra. They have gone through mud, over rock, light and deep snow, shallow and deep water, downpours, some sand, and on gravel. I bought them to replace the crappy and dangerous LongTrail T/A's that came on the Xterra. Those things hydroplaned a lot, even when new. So the LTX A/T2's were like switching on a light. Outstanding traction. No more hydroplaning. They did well on ice, and even better with some deeper packed snow. Here's the kicker. They have 65,000 miles on them right now (2013), and have not hit the wear bars. However, they do seem to be prone to dry cracking on the tread, but not on the sidewalls, which is the important part. The dry cracking on the tread started about a year ago, but it seems to be only on the tread. At this point with the dry cracking, the tread has become a little harder, and with the wear, they are now (at 65,000) starting to slip a little on wet pavement. If it wasn't for the cracking and slipping, I could get another 10,000-15,000 out of them before they hit the wear bars. But I'm not waiting that long. I'm about to buy another set of them. Yes sir. They are worth every penny. 65,000 miles with 10,000-15,000 worth of tread left? How could I complain. And if I have to be totally honest, I am terrible about rotating my tires. I think I rotated them twice a year. It makes me wonder if it would have made much difference with these tires. I did read that one guy got 80,000 out of them. So there you have it. Honest experience with lots of miles, and over varying terrain. Here's another way to look at it. I've spent $500 on a set of tires and gotten 35,000 miles out of them. I spent $900 on these (including taxes and installation fees), and could get 75,000 out of them. The $500 set cost me $0.014 cents per mile (less than a penny and a half), and these cost me less overall at $0.012 cents per mile. Do the math.

Customers praise winter traction with most scores 9-10 for snow and ice performance. Some note lower ice traction (scores 0-6), indicating mixed results in severe icy conditions. High deep snow scores suggest strong capability in heavy snow, aligning with its on-road all-terrain design.

...Rides great, handles good, low tire noise and surprisingly good in light snow. Inspires confidence on snow packed highways...
Couldn't be more happy with this tire Rides great, handles good, low tire noise and surprisingly good in light snow. Inspires confidence on snow packed highways. Feel confident on trans dessert crossings on hot summer days with scorching asphalt. I recommend these tires to everybody!! Although they are expensive, they are well worth the price. I look forward to purchasing them again. (although it wont be anytime soon, they barely show wear at 16,000 miles)
The only negative is they are a little conservative looking. Not as cool looking as the BFG (all-terrain)

...Then home through a Noreaster. I know how to drive in snow and ice and normally run studded snows on all tires... No problems at all even in 2wd. In 3 inches of slush on the highway the vehicle switched lanes without pull or slipping. I was able to brake and accelerate w/o problems...
I put these tires on my 05 Suburban. I took a 5900 mile trip to TX, FL then home to NY. I was impressed at the reviews on these tires. I have had 3 Suburbans and many vehicles. We drive to TX with very little snow and got up to 19.6 MPG. Then from TX to FL with high winds and got 18.4MPG. Then home through a Noreaster. I know how to drive in snow and ice and normally run studded snows on all tires. I have to tell you these tires are very impressive. No problems at all even in 2wd. In 3 inches of slush on the highway in SC the vehicle switched lanes without pull or slipping. I was able to brake and accelerate w/o problems. Then in snow of 4" the vehicle moved through just fine. Next morning we had smooth ice on the highway. The vehicle stuck to the highway without slipping. The we where driving through 40-50 mph wind with rain. Again the vehicle stuck to the road and responded with no problem. I am very impressed with these tires and would recommend them to anyone. If you are carrying weight remember to get the tires that can be filled to 80psi. I was concerned when I got these tires that the aggressive look to the tire would cut down on MPG and or cause road noise. They did not do either. I am sold on these and will continue to run them on all my suburbans. I will post after I run them in deep snow and after 20k in mileage. I also had my tires pull to one side when installed. I did a 4 wheel alignment and corrected the problem. I rotated the tires 2 times so far and have no signs of wear. Also though the storm I got 15.7MPG. Not bad for the start stop and conditions.

Traded the BFGoodrich Rugged Trail that came on my 2014 Tacoma Off Road in on a set of the A/T2's. Night and day difference between the tires. The difference in the snow and ice is remarkable with these tires. Nothing but Michelin tires for me.

...These work even better on the big truck. the extra weight really helps keep them planted on the slick stuff...
I had a set of these put on my 08 Escape, and was quite impressed, so whe I got my F150, I specified this tire as well. These work even better on the big truck. the extra weight really helps keep them planted on the slick stuff. The only time I use 4wd is in freezing rain, and the occaisional 2-3ft snowfalls. Otherwise they work quite well in just 2wd. 20% of my driving is farm & off road, and they have done very well under those conditions.

...These have been the best tires I have ever purchased for a 3/4 truck. Ride quality is unmatched...
I put these tires on my truck on 11/11/08 and have put over 40k on them. Jugding by my tread depth, I have at least another 10k to 15k miles if not more. These have been the best tires I have ever purchased for a 3/4 truck. Ride quality is unmatched. I rotate every 6k. I don't have any uneven wear issues at all. I will definitly buy these again and would recommend anyone who is on the fence about this tire, don't be!! you will not be disappointed.

...3 years later and over 40000 miles these tires still deliver! I'm amazed that they are in such good shape. They show some wear, but have tons of rubber left...
I consider myself an unusual soul in that I LOVE to buy and shop for tires. I was dissatisfied with the OEM tires due to the size (245-75-16), but was determined to get as many miles out of them as possible - another tire obsession I have I got 53000!!!.
My first upgrade was to the Bridgestone Revo 2 285-75-16. It was a load range D tire that had decent characteristics, but I was barely able to get 40k out of them. Bought a second set of the same and they were fine until I reached about 40k and tried to stretch 'em. I tow heavy (14K lbs - 70' long) and was on a trip only 250 miles from home, I had 3 tire failures on this trip! 1 on the way out, 2 on the way home. There was NO WAY I was going with the Revo 2 again!!!
I was hesitant to go with the Michelin due to cost, but decided I was willing to risk it after spending my Sunday afternoon finding pieces of rubber that could get me home instead of watching football; my truck doesn't carry 3 spares. Let me tell you... You meet some interesting people in the middle of no-where at tire shops...
3 years later and over 40000 miles these tires still deliver! I have a 2000+ mile trip into Mexico planned in a month and I'm not going to replace them! I'm amazed that they are in such good shape. They show some wear, but have tons of rubber left. I like the design because they have a couple different wear bars. Rather than only 1 to tell you they're done, there is a second that gives an idea of how much is worn and also shows if they're wearing even. There is a ton of rubber, so it would be tough to measure without it.
I guess it's worth telling how I use my truck. I tow 5th wheel's and boats ranging in weight from 3000 lbs to over 10,000. Mostly highway, some dirt roads and slippery launch ramps. I don't drive in the snow and very rarely off road.
As crazy as it sounds, I look forward to buying another set as soon as I get as many miles as possible out of these.
