Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The Pilot Alpin PA4 is Michelin's Performance Winter / Snow tire developed to meet the needs of enthusiasts who may encounter snow-covered roads when they drive their ultra high performance sports cars, sedans or coupes during freezing temperatures, snow and ice. In addition to utilizing eco-focused manufacturing methods and enhancing vehicle fuel economy through low rolling resistance, as designated by Michelin's Green X* branding, Pilot Alpin PA4 tires are designed to deliver secure driving year after year in cold, wet and wintry conditions.

Pilot Alpin PA4 tires feature a full silica-based, sunflower oil-enriched Helio Compound+ tread rubber that remains more flexible in low temperatures for better traction in cold conditions. This compound is molded into an asymmetric tread design that features a heavily grooved tread pattern, Michelin's high-density Stabiligrip 3D sipe technology and wrap-around shoulder designs to enhance acceleration, braking and handling.

The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by Michelin's FAZ technology that places spirally wound filaments of polyester cord under the tread to combine stable feel, confident handling and high-speed capability with ride comfort.

Pilot Alpin PA4 winter radials meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Note: Snow platform indicators (the equivalent of "snow wear bars") are molded into the Pilot Alpin PA4's tread grooves to inform the driver when ice and snow traction will be reduced as the tire's tread reaches the point where the remaining tread depth becomes less effective in deep snow.

Install Pilot Alpin PA4 tires in sets of four only.

Vehicles should always be equipped with equivalent tires at all wheel positions. These winter / snow tires, due to their exceptional snow and ice traction provided by their unique tread compounds, must be used in sets of four to help ensure proper vehicle control.

*Specific sizes featuring Green X technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required. To confirm what your vehicle needs, check our Original Equipment tire listing for your year, make and model or see your vehicle owner's manual.

...Additionally, these have been some of the best tires I've owned in the rain. They really almost refuse to hydroplane even in standing water on the highway.

Purchased these over a set of full blown snow tires for the improved wet traction, speed rating, and improved dry grip. Michelin seems to have forgotten to walk back the snow traction as these were nothing less than excellent. Easily controlled power induced slides with strong reserve traction made these a bunch of fun in heavy snowstorms. Additionally, these have been some of the best tires I’ve owned in the rain. They really almost refuse to hydroplane even in standing water on the highway.

Put these on stock rims, after I bought dedicated summer tires and rims. The traction in 40F rainy conditions is just spectacular. These tires actually just saved the life of me and my child today, so I thought it was time to write a review. On 32F cold pavement with just half a mile of warm up time, they were able to put all 400HP down on the road and get me out of the way of a distracted truck driver. Will buy again.

...The Pilot Alpin PA4s feel marginally better in cold, dry weather, but SIGNIFICANTLY better in the snow than the 3Ds. They just get better traction in the snow -- simple as that.

I've had these tires on my Audi S6 for two winter seasons now. Before these tires, I had Michelin Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds for winter. The Pilot Alpin PA4s feel marginally better in cold, dry weather, but SIGNIFICANTLY better in the snow than the 3Ds. They just get better traction in the snow -- simple as that.

Love this tire. Performs great around town and excels on winter highways headed skiing.
My only complaint is a visual one, that the asymmetrical tread design looks like you put the tires on wrong if you look at the car from the back.

...During one of the snowfalls, I tried to make them slip in an empty parking lot just to see how good they really were. I could barely lose grip. Even on ice these tires find a way to stop my car...

This is now my go to tire for New York winters. I just hit 10,000 miles on this set of tires and completed my second tire rotation. The front two tires show a bit more wear than the rear, mainly because they guide the car through steering. Only the outer sidewall show a slight sign of wear. Overall the tires look and drive like they are brand new.

Winter driving:
The PA4's truly are amazing. During one of the snowfalls, I tried to make them slip in an empty parking lot just to see how good they really were. I could barely lose grip. Even on ice these tires find a way to stop my car. The PA4's have definitely saved my life this winter numerous times. The overall design of the tire and thoughtful tread placements are very effective. These are the safest tires that I have driven on in bad weather.

Dry/Wet Road:
On dry roads I feel as if I have performance summer tires. Cornering responsiveness with these tires make the $400 stock Yoko's look like junk. Crisp steering and amazing grip, I have made moves with these tires that most dedicated summer tires would not be able to hold me. These tires are drivable all year round, although they shine brilliantly during winter conditions.

On wet roads, the large tread cuts through puddles and eliminates hydroplaning. They also provide more cushion when hitting potholes and bumps, and give a very secure feeling when doing so.

Currently, there is no better tire to fit on a performance car than these. Many people overlook the importance of good tires. Do not compromise your life by driving summer tires in the winter. Get a pair of PA4's and feel safe and secure.

...In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at their dry traction and performance in below freezing temperatures. While not nearly as sticky sweet as my Pilot Super Sports, these perform much better than no-season tires on previous vehicles...

This was my first set of winter tires for my Focus RS. I primarily use the tires around the coastal mountain roads in Northern California, bumpy and often wet from the morning dew or runoff from nearby steams. On the weekends, I (like all other Bay Area yuppies) drive up to Tahoe to ski. These tires perform well in both conditions. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at their dry traction and performance in below freezing temperatures. While not nearly as sticky sweet as my Pilot Super Sports, these perform much better than "no-season" tires on previous vehicles. All in all, a great tire that I recommend to someone looking for more dry condition performance than your typical winter tire.

...Dry grip and corning is crazy fun with these tires as well...

I bought these tire for my wife's BMW. She is currently assigned as a Principal in Germany. German law requires winter tire with the three peak symbol on them. As for the tires, we have driven in snow, ice and rain with these tires. The tires are amazing. And yes, they are Autobahn tested. Dry grip and corning is crazy fun with these tires as well. The car is now back in the U.S. I kept the winter tires on even though I no longer need them here in Alabama. The tires are just so good in heavy rain and dry conditions. They are worth every penny I paid for them. Sorry for the long review.

...In dry conditions the tires are performers. Excellent cornering, acceleration and nimble handling...

It's been a snowy winter. I installed Michelin Alpin 4 the first week in December. Overall these are fantastic snow tires. I have owned Dunlaps, Blizzacks, and others. The Alpin 4 are far superior in all snow conditions. I drive a manual M3, 420hp. I am an aggressive, performance oriented driver. I have driven in light snow, wet snow, deep snow, ice foundation and snow covered streets and the performance of these tires is exceptional. The real test was a snow covered 2% grade with an SUV next to me with 4 wheel drive. My M3 dug in and climbed. The Suv was all over the road and spinning. I have pushed the car through snow corners and it hangs. When it does start to lose traction I am impressed how quickly the tires grip and dig in. Do the tires slide, spin in the snow ? Of course they do but they recover quickly and off I go. In dry conditions the tires are performers. Excellent cornering, acceleration and nimble handling. We have had a number of below zero days and the tires do not seem harsh to me. They retain excellent grip and ride comfort. At high speeds 90+ I cannot tell the difference between the snows and my summer performance tires.
I highly recommend the alpine 4. Consumer report reviewed them in fall 13, and highly recommended them and I agree. Best snow tires I have owned and perfect for my hi performance M3, and performance driving.

Fun Tires!! I was able to drive in 4- 5 inches of snow and the traction is just amazing. It's hard to brake the tires loose. I had to find a empty parking lot and turn off traction control. The tires also feel great on the dry or wet roads. If your looking for a great high performance snow winter tire I would strongly recommend. Let it snow!

I bought these winter tires for my 2017 GTI, having never driven on winter tires before. Today was the first decent snow of the season (Chicago area), and these tires are incredible! First off, they handle, turn, and stop on dry pavement about the same as the OE Continentals I replaced. But those tires were scary in the ice & snow. These are fantastic. Would highly recommend them!

...When I first put them on it was much more common for my traction control to flash as I pulled into 2nd or cornered aggressively. Maybe break-in, but I still feel the performance loss. Definitely not running these in the summer...

C7 collectors edition, Daily driver, 100 miles round trip on freeway.
Pacific NW, so lots of rain. 4 days of snow this last year. YES, I drive my corvette in the snow!
Averaged about 4" per snow day and melts away fast. Tires handled excellent!
No traction loss. Real problems came from car being so low I was plowing the snow
and had to slow a little or risk splitter damage. Wish I would have turned on my PDR and
posted.
These tires are definitely different than OEM. Non-run flat so much softer/better ride.
When I first put them on it was much more common for my traction control to flash as
I pulled into 2nd or cornered aggressively. Maybe break-in, but I still feel the performance loss.
Definitely not running these in the summer. If your looking for a all year solution go with
all season. As for track days, these are not allowed at my closest.

...Tire life has been good. I am in my second winter with them, and they did not have as much wear as I expected during their first winter.

They work great as winter tires. I have not had any problems worrying about getting stuck in snow up to 6", and they do fine driving around in wet and dry. They are not as good as the OEM Pirelli PZero Corsas in the summer, but they are working well for a winter tire in the cold. Tire life has been good. I am in my second winter with them, and they did not have as much wear as I expected during their first winter.
