The Pilot Sport All Season 4 is Michelin's Ultra High Performance All-Season tire for drivers of high-end sports cars, sporty coupes, performance sedans, crossovers and SUVs looking to push the limits of all-season performance. Designed to offer high levels of dry and wet traction, combined with confidence in inclement weather, the Pilot Sport All Season 4 aims to control the moment no matter the condition, even in light snow.

Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 Callouts

Select sizes of the Pilot Sport All Season 4 are available with Michelin's Full Ring Velour Premium Touch sidewall treatment. This velvet-effect checkered sidewall is created using cutting-edge laser technology and is designed to enhance the vehicle's visual presence. These sizes are identified on the "Specs" page and in search results.

Featuring an advanced tread compound molded into an innovative asymmetric pattern, the Pilot Sport All Season 4 utilizes large reinforced outboard shoulder blocks that help deliver lateral grip. Dynamic Response Technology evens out the forces exerted on the contact patch during hard cornering, improving handling characteristics and tread wear. Wide circumferential channels combine with large rain grooves to evacuate heavy water from the contact patch, helping increase hydroplaning resistance. Wet traction and stability are further enhanced by the Extreme Silica Compound, along with dynamic biting edges from the distinctive 360 Degree Variable Sipes. These full-depth and interlocking sipes also complement wintertime traction and combine with biting edges molded into the sides of the circumferential grooves to enhance snow performance. The Pilot Sport All Season 4 employs Michelin's Helio Technology, which is derived from sunflower oil. This sustainable and biodegradable material helps the tread maintain its flexibility at lower temperatures, ensuring the Pilot Sport All Season 4's capabilities, even in colder climates.

The Pilot Sport All Season 4's internal construction features a two ply polyester casing, blending durability and performance handling characteristics. Two high strength steel belts are reinforced by single nylon cap ply, further promoting comfort and high speed stability.

excellent in wet... Really amazing in the wet and dry the only problem is you don't really know you limitations...

excellent in wet . Car had run flats that I hated when purchased. These tires are slightly different size but same OD. Jeep SRT handling is twitchy and somewhat soft but still firm, so not real predictable or linear in handling characteristics . Had a Trailblazer SS previously that was more predictable but less powerful so some of my comments about tires are related to SRT handling characteristics not necessarily the tire. Really amazing tire in the wet and dry the only problem is you don't really know you limitations. Drive mostly on country roads with high crown and off camber corners with bumps, so the SRT suspension tuned for smooth track like surfaces does not inspire a lot of confidence on this type of road with a 5000# car with almost 500 horsepower. Great tire though.

...One of the best in the rain as well. Never hydroplaned on me yet or lost traction, even through those big deep puddles you hit at night unexpectedly...

Bought these to replace the pilot sport summer tires that came in the car. Could notice a slight downgrade in dry cornering feel right after swapping them but still one of the best tires I’ve ever had. Had great grip during the light snow and handful of icy road drives last winter. One of the best in the rain as well. Never hydroplaned on me yet or lost traction, even through those big deep puddles you hit at night unexpectedly.

Most of my driving is on country back roads and interstates so the performance area of the tire I can’t really rate since I don’t get to push the car very often.

...Smooth-running, quiet, and good in the wet...

Not quite the same handling performance as a summer tire on this high-performance vehicle, but pleasantly surprising for day-in-day-out driving. Smooth-running, quiet, and good in the wet. Given that heavy winter snowfalls in the New York area of the Northeast have been next to non-existent in recent years, these tires would be a good alternative to winter tires for roughly 5-6 months of the year. An added benefit would be their ability to cope with unseasonable near-freezing temperatures such as we’ve had so far this Spring, conditions that would risk damaging soft summer tire compounds if the summers were installed too early.

...The mountains of Big Bear Ca where we were having a massive storm... Back to the Cayenne, we took that thing all the way up and down the mountain without chains and the tires did not slip once. No ice on the road but a ton of snow and those tires rocked.

Purchased these tires as my wife now drives the car and wanted something she could use all year. The first month I installed them we went to the snow. The mountains of Big Bear Ca where we were having a massive storm. We pulled over to the chain area and the installers said, 4 wheel drive, you don't need chains. However in Mammoth with my summer tires and chains, Audi Q7, we slid around and in fact couldn't get traction heading down a hill. It was a bit scary and I vowed to never drive with summer tires in the snow again. We got a dedicated set of winter tires for that vehicle.

Back to the Cayenne, we took that thing all the way up and down the mountain without chains and the tires did not slip once. No ice on the road but a ton of snow and those tires rocked.

...I've also tried them out in in about 3 inches of snow, fresh fall / packed, and was pleasantly surprised at their snow capabilities considering how well they do on dry roads...

The ONLY downside to these tires is the sidewall is so stiff Firestone was unable to install them, stating they were low-profile tires (245/40R18) which is not low profile in my opinion. Tire performance is exceptional though. I have been on several Mini car club runs along with a trip to Tail of the Dragon where I drive VERY spirited, typically doubling the "recommended" curve speed when with others and exceeding that when by myself. Tires stuck it every time. Wet performance is also top-notch, just keep in mind the roads are wet.... duhhhh. I've also tried them out in about 3 inches of snow, fresh fall / packed, and was pleasantly surprised at their snow capabilities considering how well they do on dry roads. The ride is a bit stiff but if you want the cornering you NEED stiff sidewalls so it's a give-and-take. All around great tire, I will be purchasing them again!

...Dry traction is fantastic! My car is stage 2 making around 500hp and just over 600ft/lbs of torque, and the grip upon full boost launch is awesome!! These tires bite into the road...

Even though these are all season tires, they outshine the summer tires that came on the car from the factory. They are better at smoothing out smaller cracks and bumps. The initial turn in is very quick and precise! Steering feel is nice and predictable. Good in wet and light snow! Dry traction is fantastic! My car is stage 2 making around 500hp and just over 600ft/lbs of torque, and the grip upon full boost launch is awesome!! These tires really bite into the road. Overall great tire. Definitely recommend!

...My wheel/tire package is wider and a larger diameter than stock for the Vibe, so I will avoid comparing handling vs stock, but for the purposes of my lighter weight small car, these tires have made it feel like a Go-Kart... Traction is excellent in all conditions I've encountered, very responsive cornering and lane changes...

I purchased these tires as part of a package along with some Sparco DAKAR wheels to update my Pontiac Vibe, but I didn't want to review until I had some miles on them. Now that I have a little over 3,500 miles and a tire rotation under their belt, I can say I am EXTREMELY happy with them! My wheel/tire package is wider and a larger diameter than stock for the Vibe, so I will avoid comparing handling vs stock, but for the purposes of my lighter weight small car, these tires have made it feel like a Go-Kart. I have had the tires for about 6 months so far and have driven in conditions ranging from hot and dry to torrential summer thunderstorms, and now wet rainy autumn. I cannot speak to winter ice or snow conditions yet, but thankfully where I live I typically don't have more than a couple weeks of that anyway. Traction is excellent in all conditions I've encountered, very responsive cornering and lane changes. Braking traction, especially in wet conditions is almost scary good (keeping in mind my vehicle is less than 3,000lbs) it stops on a dime. After one rotation and checking tire wear, there is very little difference I can measure from brand new. Obviously driving habits and car weight will cause this to change drasitcally, so take that as you will. My driving is both city and highway, with a good amount of twisty mountain road leasure driving in between. Tire noise is minimal, but I will call it "strange" for lack of a better word; With all my windows down, in dry conditions at low speed, it somehow sounds like I am driving through a puddle. Like when you have wet tires after a car wash, but constantly. After 40mph this sound goes away and a normal "hum" is all, but it really is weird. Overall I strongly recommend these tires for anyone needing a performance style tire with multi-season traction, and if you have a smaller car like mine it will feel like a totally different ride.

...Comfort levels are very high considering the quality of the local roads and a 40-series sidewall. It's close to some grand touring tires I've had from Pirelli and Continental. Noise levels are very good as well, though they have gotten louder in 20,000 miles, but not uncomfortably so...

I bought these in summer 2022 and now have exactly 20,000 miles. Most of my driving is in the city in stop and go conditions from 55 or 65 mph to zero for about 10-15 miles each way every day. And then on the weekend some twisty mountain roads.

These tires have exceeded my expectations in pretty much every regard. I've previously had the Pilot Sport 3 summer tire, and this tire has about 90% of the grip of that tire in good weather. Hydroplaning resistance is maybe a little bit less than the PS3 was. Comfort levels are also very high considering the quality of the local roads and a 40-series sidewall. It's close to some grand touring tires I've had from Pirelli and Continental. Noise levels are very good as well, though they have gotten louder in 20,000 miles, but not uncomfortably so. The Hankook UHP all seasons I had on before these were noticeably terrible at this point in their life.

Treadwear is very good so far I am at 6/32 to 7/32; I expect at least another 20,000 miles from these before they are too worn down to be safe for winter usage, which is pretty good for my driving style.

They do very well so far in light to moderate snowfall. They are certainly not on the same level as a dedicated winter tire, or even CrossClimates that I've had on a RWD Mercedes, but they work well in my city, which usually does a good job clearing the roads. In ice, they are about the same as every all season. If you are in a humid winter environment where there is ice, you really should be running winter tires.

I would definitely recommend these to almost anyone. I would buy them again if I were not a tire nerd who has to try out something new every time I get tires :D

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! Hands down the best tires for the Tesla Model Y (all trims). It’s been a year and i’ve put about 20K miles on these and they have performed well all year round! We had a rainy season few months ago and the tires handled the puddles and wet roads like a champ. The comfort of driving has also increased, i noticed the difference, immediately, after switching out the old set.

I will buy these again 10000%!

The expectations of these performance tires was that they would be multi-purposed and they are. The features for a daily driver tire are great, dry, wet and colder with a little snow. After several track days on an autocross and the track, the wear was much greater than was expected. Small Pieces and little chunks would fragment off of some of the trend. The cars alignment has been right on and overall wear is Ok. The handling has remained consistent and the tires will continue to wear with more track days. I believe the tread wear is related to track surface temperatures and tire pressure. OEM tire pressures are as recommended, maybe 1 PSI higher for colder environments as the car seldom goes out in winter unless the road is clear of road treatments. The car is not a daily drive, just mostly to track days. For me, it appears on track, hot temps should target around 34 - 36 PSI. The tires grip is wonderful, just expect that the tires characteristics and performance will be based upon your driving style, vehicle and set up.

Breaking Down Tire Performance Categories - 2024 Special Test With Winter Update (26:05)

We understand that tire performance categories can be confusing. You want an all-season tire, but there are several all-season categories; how do you know which one is right for you? You want a summer tire, but again, which summer category? In this special demonstration, we took six all-season tires from three all-season categories and three summer tires from two summer categories to lay it out for you. Category-leading tires from the Standard Touring All-Season, Grand Touring All-Season, Ultra High Performance All-Season, Max Performance Summer, and Extreme Performance Summer categories are tested so you can see exactly what each "step up" gets you as a driver and what trade-offs were made along the way.
