Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The Premier LTX is Michelin's Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season light truck tire developed for the drivers of crossovers, sport utility vehicles, light-duty vans and pickup trucks looking for tires that deliver category-leading wet grip when new and when worn. And even when worn, Premier LTX tires are designed to stop shorter on wet roads than leading competitors' brand-new tires, as well as provide all-season traction on wintry roads, even in light snow.

The Premier LTX is a Michelin Total Performance tire that utilizes innovative technologies to bring multiple performances together. Combining stopping power, driving control, promised weather appropriateness and enhanced fuel efficiency, Michelin Total Performance tires reduce the influence of traditional trade-offs normally associated with tires. Michelin Total Performance is a promise of Michelin tire excellence.

Premier LTX tires use an extreme silica and sunflower oil enhanced tread compound to increase traction in wet and cold temperatures. This compound is molded into a light-truck-size-tuned symmetric tread design featuring a continuous center rib flanked by notched intermediate ribs and linked shoulder blocks to combine straight-line tracking with responsive dry-road handling. Michelin EverGrip Technology adds Expanding Rain Grooves around the tire's circumference and Emerging Grooves across its shoulders. As the tire wears, the Expanding Rain Grooves widen while Emerging Grooves open up across each shoulder block to help retain more traction in wet and wintry conditions.

Premier LTX tires marked "DT" feature an updated compound and additional molded tread depth to help improve wear life. These tires are identified in search results and on the Specs page, and "DT" is branded on the sidewall of the tire.

The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide cord on top of a polyester casing ply to blend handling and durability with ride uniformity and comfort.

*Specific sizes utilizing Michelin Total Performance eco-focused manufacturing methods are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Customers Say

Ratings highlight excellence in comfort with smooth, quiet rides (8-10 scores) and strong dry traction praised for responsive handling. Treadwear raises concerns, with many scores below 5 noting premature wear. Winter traction earns praise in snow (7-10) but shows mixed results on ice (3-7). Wet performance stands out with reliable grip and hydroplaning resistance (8-10), though a few note limits in heavy standing water. Dry traction consistently impresses (8-10), with stable cornering and confident steering. Ideal for all-season crossover/SUV use, but tread longevity may disappoint drivers prioritizing durability.

...They run quiet, they are GREAT on rainy highways at speed, and they're nice on dry pavement... Massive wet traction upgrade and I expect same in snow/ice.

I bought these based on TireRack reviews. We replaced a set of Yoko's we really liked. These are better. These might be the best tires I've ever purchased. They run quiet, they are GREAT on rainy highways at speed, and they're nice on dry pavement. I haven't driven off road with these and we haven't encountered snow yet, but so far so great. I am buying a second set for my other car. Massive wet traction upgrade and I expect same in snow/ice.

...They provide confidence when driving in wet conditions with no hydroplaning at highway speeds, and provide a superior ride quality with low road noise...

30 days and 1,500 miles in and these tires have already started to exceed expectations. They provide confidence when driving in
wet conditions with no hydroplaning at highway speeds, and provide a superior ride quality with low road noise. The ride almost makes me forget I am driving a truck! I am very happy with the performance with these tires and will continue to provide additional feedback as I put on more miles.

...The runflat Latitude Tour HP ZP was causing the X5 to slip and slide horrendously in the snow compared to the outgoing Latitude Tour HP nonrunflat. However, the Michelin Premier LTX tires size 255/50R19 107H that I put on recently made the X5d ride so smooth without any hint of vibration or noise...

All I can say is WOW, these are by far the best set of tires let alone Michelins I have ever bought for my cars or SUV! I am very picky and demand the best from my cars and tires and I did not like the Michelin runflats that came with my X5 last month. The runflat Latitude Tour HP ZP was causing the X5 to slip and slide horrendously in the snow compared to the outgoing Latitude Tour HP nonrunflat. However, the Michelin Premier LTX tires size 255/50R19 107H that I put on recently made the X5d ride so smooth without any hint of vibration or noise. All tires road force balanced in the single digits which means they are truly very well rounded tires, a testament of Michelin high quality. The ride is glass smooth and the handling/steering input is very direct and communicative. The body roll is better and the car tracks much more stable on the highways. I find these tires to be a HUGE improvement over the outgoing Michelin Latitude Tour HP that we had on our prior 2013 Ml350. I am very impressed and look forward to trying these tires in the snow in a few weeks.

...Living in new England I need good performance in snow and ice and got it...

After 3000 miles I am very pleased with the handling and noise level of these tires. Replaced a set of OEM Dunlops. Got 30k on these tires but the overall handling performance of the tire is no comparison. These tires are one of the best I have ever driven. Living in new England I need good performance in snow and ice and got it. These LTX Premier's have exceeded my expectations. I am concerned about wear after reading all of the posts with mostly negative results. I have not seen any detrimental affect to gas mileage. Not enough miles to assess wear at this point. We all understand that AWD vehicles chew up tires. If I can get at least 30+k miles I will be extremely happy. So far I would highly recommend these tires as one of the best I have ever driven. Jury is still out on the longevity. I will report back after I have some significant miles to check wear.

...My last set of tires on my 09 sorento LX where Michelin touring and although they get poor rating for snow i made it through some serious stuff with four wheel high only.

So I been looking for new tires for my LX V6 AWD Kia Sorento. So far i driven a 1,000 miles and I must say i always loved Michelin tires and now i remember why. They are so quite, smooth, rolling when foot is off gas pedal is great. I will keep track of mileage as times goes on to see if i get better or the same. Tonight is when we get rain and straight through till tomorrow so i can put down how i feel about traction and hydroplaning as well for an update. Also it seems my car stops better too as well with these on them. I had Yokohama geolanders H/T tires and they just flat out were horrible. No traction slide in rain with braking, snow and ice were a joke! My last set of tires on my 09 sorento LX where Michelin touring and although they get poor rating for snow i made it through some serious stuff with no issues with four wheel high only.

I am very impressed with the dry traction, wet traction, and cornering ability...

I really love this tire. It came on the truck in the oem 265/65/17 and it never got stuck in any weather. Now I'm using it with a 22-inch size and although the vehicle doesn't see much snow I have full confidence that the tire will rise to that occasion. In every way it exceeds oem LTX. I am very impressed with the dry traction, wet traction, and cornering ability. They did get some duty on water logged muddy grass with a trailer on the tow-hitch. The tires performed flawless and moved the vehicle without any slip.

Replaced OEM Yokohama Geolander tires at 9,000 miles. They were only moderately worn but were noisy, bumpy and provided vague steering feedback. While I have not had this tire for many miles, it is the best tire I've run yet on my XC. The turn in response is crisp, being H rated. I have the tendency to enjoy the off ramps, and this tire is confidence inspiring. I have not had a hydroplaning situation to date, and I have driven in some significant summer rain. The wet pavement traction rivals the performance summer tires I previously ran. The ride quality is good, with this tire absorbing pavement imperfections. The tire doesn't tend to have the floating feeling associated with their ride quality, you always tend to feel connected to the road. On asphalt the tires are very quiet. There is a bit of tread noise on concrete, but most tires have the same issue. I am impressed so far.

This is the best of tires and the worst of tires. This tire rides very smooth and quiet on the highway and in the city. It does not dampen harsh bumps as well as other tires, but give it a smooth road and you'll settle in to some real comfort. Grooved highways tend to make it feel jerky or loose as it is trying to follow the grooves but nothing dramatic. No problems with hydroplaning even in heavy rain and I never feel like I have to slow down dramatically because of it. With AWD, snow traction is excellent in light snow and deep snow it is respectable and holds the turns with out the rear end wanting to break away. This of course is true if you're not driving like you stole it. These are not snow tires so don't be shocked to find that they are indeed not snow tires. Ice traction is what you would expect on ice so taking it easy means coming home alive. In normal, everyday conditions this tire is an excellent performer if you do not expect it to perform miracles for bad driving. Always quiet...concrete highways there is a slight hum...but quiet, comfortable, and dependable.
HOWEVER...
The treadwear is a glaring flaw if you are a high-mileage driver. At 40,000 miles the tires are almost to their wear bars. I feel like I just got on the track and now I have to make another pit stop for some new tires....that is with a rotation every 5000 miles and checking air pressure periodically. As much as I really like this tire, tapping out after only 40,000 miles when it is supposed to last much longer is a deal breaker. Without the treadwear issue this tire is near perfect for the average driver. For the low-mileage driver it could be a great option. For most, however, there are better options available with similar features that will make your dollar stretch just a little further.

This is a great tire when new, makes the Honda van drive like an old school Cadillac, very comfortable ride, best tires I have ever had for ride and comfort. But that is one short ride, the tires only lasted 24,000 miles before totally wearing out, two tires may have 1/32 left and the other two may have 2/32 left.

Very disappointed, I spoke to a Michelin representative and they advised me to go to a Michelin authorized retailer to have the tires evaluated and after the inspection to have the retailer report back to Michelin and they may be able to offer me a prorated refund for a replacement set of tires. Lets see what happens, if the tires are prorated and they provide me a credit I will most likely try the Michelin Defender T+H (they see to have much better tread life reviews) if not then I am going to stay away from Michelin and go for the top rated tire on this site for my application which is the Continental, TrueContact Tour.

Popped these on my Q5 3.0 when the OEM Conti's wore out. They were very highly rated by CR. For a while, they were a decent tire, but they wore out super quick (only 24K). Car alignment was well maintained; tires wore evenly (no excessive shoulder or center rib wear). Snow traction was particularly bad. Changed out for Blizzak's over the winter and now replaced with Pilot Sport A/S 3+. Never had a tire wear out so fast. Q5 was still fun to drive (can't kill that).

Great tire for the first 20k miles. We have rotated consistently and have had alignment checks. at 30k tires are almost completely bald. No joke, one is smooth the others are almost not tread at all, Loved them but they don't last. Had them rotated about the new year and was told there might be 15k left in them. It has only been 5k since that rotation and the tech was surprised we actually drove in the wi snow with them because they are so bad. Great tire for someone who puts 30 miles a week on the car they might last you a few years with great performance. Like grandma going to church and the store. Otherwise, stay away.

...Well after 20,000 miles I'm down to 4/32 on the tires which is less than half the tread life and the tires now seem to slip a little in the dry and the wet. That's just not good enough, but thankfully they come with a warranty so I'll be swapping to the Defender now to see if they perform any better...

Overall I think the tires were pretty good, but the tread wear is not. Having had a set of Goodyear Eagle RS/A rapidly wear down after about 10,000 (with NO tread life warranty) I wanted to go with some well-reviewed Michelins. I debated between the Defender and the Premier LTX which are fairly similar overall, but the Premier seemed to look better on the rim and that was my deciding factor. They were smooth and quiet and the grip seemed great so I thought I could set it and forget it. Well after 20,000 miles I'm down to 4/32" on the tires which is less that half the tread life and the tires now seem to slip a little in the dry and the wet. That's just not good enough, but thankfully they come with a warranty so I'll be swapping to the Defender now to see if they perform any better. The Defender actually starts off with a slightly deeper tread than the Premier, so hopefully I'll get better wear. I don't do more than about 10,000 miles annually here in sunny, southern California. Mostly dry weather conditions year round and I don't drive in any snow. My driving style is average (I have small kids) so the Explorer sees a pretty equal mix of city/hwy driving so there's just no reason that these tires should wear that quickly, other than the obvious fact that with 20" rims that leaves a lot of rubber touching the road on a heavy vehicle, but if manufacturers are going to recommend their tires for specific vehicles, then the tread life should meet expectations under normal driving conditions and with the Premier, they simply didn't on this vehicle
