The Primacy MXM4 is Michelin's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for luxury sedan and coupe drivers looking to combine all-weather handling and traction with good noise and ride comfort. Most Primacy MXM4 tires meet Michelin's Green X standard* for eco-focused manufacturing and low rolling resistance, and confirms the tire's contribution to reducing vehicle fuel consumption, emission of CO2 gases and improving sustainability through conservation of natural resources. The Primacy MXM4 is designed to blend a quiet, comfortable ride, responsive handling and enhanced fuel efficiency with year-round all-season traction, even in light snow.

The Primacy MXM4 features Michelin's first use of their patented sunflower oil-enriched Helio Compound technology in an all-season tire to increase traction at low temperatures for improved braking and handling in the wet, as well as better overall performance in the snow. The Helio Compound is molded into an asymmetric tread design featuring a European handling profile with rounder shoulders that are designed to provide progressive, predictable cornering. Circumferential grooves evacuate water out from under the tire's footprint to reduce hydroplaning while Michelin's 3-D Variable Thickness Sipe Technology provides additional biting edges to enhance wet and wintertime traction.

The Primacy MXM4 was developed with Michelin Comfort Control Technology using computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing methods to reduce vibration and road noise. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by Michelin's BAZ (Banded At Zero) spiral-wrapped polyamide cord that stabilizes the tread area to enhance treadwear, handling and high-speed capability. The Primacy MXM4 features a polyester cord body to provide a smooth ride.

*Specific sizes featuring Green X technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Owners report excellent comfort with smooth ride quality and low noise levels, complemented by strong treadwear ratings that suggest long-lasting performance. Winter traction receives praise for light snow handling but shows mixed results on ice and deeper snow, aligning with typical all-season limitations. Wet traction scores highlight reliable grip and hydroplaning resistance, while dry conditions showcase confident cornering and responsive steering. The tire's balanced performance across these categories makes it a solid choice for drivers prioritizing year-round comfort and durability in non-extreme winter climates.

...Excellent in wet conditions, as good as any tire I have ever used...

Very happy with these tires. Probably a better tire than my Accord needs. Very quiet. Excellent in wet conditions, as good as any tire I have ever used. Very good in the few light snows we had this winter as well. Handles good but I do not push them.

...Great control on wet roads with a crisp ride on dry...

After having Pirelli's on my Volvo C70 that were horrible, I am exceedingly pleased with the MXM4's. The car rides like a new vehicle. Great control on wet roads with a crisp and comfy ride on dry. Very quiet too. My husband did not like to drive the car before because the Pirelli's were a rough ride. Now he loves my car! Cannot recommend these tires enough - 5 Stars! Complements also to Tire Rack as the service online and over the phone was superb. Second time happy customer that will be back!

...Thus far my MXM4 almost silent & slice huge rain puddles like knife through butter...

After much research for extremely quiet, smooth AND slightly performance oriented tires, I chose MXM4. Very happy with MXM4! Declined Michelin Premier due to low tread depth (8.5) & noise on certain surfaces. Superbly quiet & smooth Pirelli Cinturato + an obvious option, but recent reviews poor in rain bothered me due to heavy rains in FL & they're not reviewed as at all athletic. (Would like to try later as v. quiet; I guess recent rain weakness due to small change in manufacturing) So what did that leave in terms of VERY quiet, smooth but athletic, enjoyable tire? Experience of many decades taught me not to trust continental. They make some good tires (DWs06) - but often weak sidewalls & sometimes noise are issues. (Germans make great cars & dogs; but tires?) So I bought Goodyear Assurance comfort + for my other MB (classic S class V12) and they are fantastic (tirerack isn't always best on older tires) but on concrete highways & generally they're not quite as quiet as my previous Primacy MXV4. Also GY hydroplaning resistance not as perfect as MXM4. GY still a fantastic v. quiet & long lasting tire: For a heavy V12 I never have to think about them any more: Solid; job done! So for E320? Almost swayed by Bridgestone Turanza Serenity +, but a recent rental car with them showed they're good but not as good as Michelin. Some TR advisors advised modern (harder) tires, one TR advisor nailed it: MXM4 = extremely quiet, smooth but ALSO bit more athletic. Thus far my MXM4 almost silent & slice huge rain puddles like knife through butter. Ride is smooth but likely not as comfortable as Pirelli? Premier may be softer ride. Older car owners may not realise how worn their suspension is. Before buying my E320 I planned to replace ALL rear suspension. At 500 AA A: good handling but not harsh sport tire. Benz no longer feels like wagon! Pilot Exalto PE2 another poss. sleeper? Thus far MXM4 are near silent with good handling & perfect rain control. Research pays: MXM4 just awesome!

This tire combined with thie Acura RDX vehicle is one of the reason for my high ratings of this tire. Living in the Northeast, I drive in all types of weather, rain, snow and sleet and I have never felt unsafe driving in any of these conditions. Keeping in mind also that my weekly average mileage is just over 700 miles and 85% of these are highway with an average 28 MPG combined highway/cityThe above and the 55000 miles that I have
already driven on them will be another reasons that I will purchase these tires again.

...In the snow, you can feel that the tires remain pliable, and that keeps traction even for a tire that does not have very aggressive sipes or grooves for snow. You get very little wheelspin in snow, and letting up on the go pedal or going easy on the clutch keeps the car moving in bad weather...

Wow. This tire tread looks to be fairly aggressive, and looks like it would probably not be good for the cold and snow. However, that sunflower oil in the compound really keeps this rubber pliable in the cold. In the warmer weather, this tire is smooth, responsive, fairly quiet, with just the slightest hint of vagueness on-center - you really have to be paying attention to notice it. In the snow, you can feel that the tires remain pliable, and that keeps traction even for a tire that does not have very aggressive sipes or grooves for snow. You get very little wheelspin in snow, and letting up on the go pedal or going easy on the clutch keeps the car moving in bad weather. Impressive.

For grand touring tires, these do well on the grand touring front, and respectably well in the cold. Even when it has been in the single digit temps recently, they are still pliable and grip in the slop. Pricey tires, but worth it.

...I live in Wisconsin which requires tires suitable for just about anything so I opted to replace sooner rather than later... wet and snow traction very good...

Always been more of a Bridgestone fan personally, however, these tires came OE with the 2018 Dodge Charger GT Plus. While I only got about 26,000 miles on them before deciding to replace with the same tires, they did not NEED to be replaced. I live in Wisconsin which requires tires suitable for just about anything so I opted to replace sooner rather than later. The noise level is very low, wet and snow traction very good, and just about everything else is good. Only thing bad is that after about 26,000 miles and my somewhat at times ‘spirited’ driving style, I’ve noticed that I can’t quite push the limits like before. For example, spirited turns and cornering capabilities have diminished and the outer tread has certainly declined. Overall, great tire and I would recommend

...The traction is outstanding. Almost feels like a Z-rated summer tire on dry roads...

I own a 2008 G35xS (AWD, sport package with 18" tires) and live in Indianapolis. The OEM Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tire treads wore out after less than 30,000 miles on my car. They never ran straight, despite two separate 4 wheel alignments. The traction was relatively poor even when I drove the car off the lot, and I was not happy with the Dunlops. Did some research on this website, along with a few other car magazines. People didn't like the Bridgestones, so I went with this new Primacy tire from Michelin, as my family has always had good luck with Michelins in the past.

I must say that I am very impressed by the new Primacy MXM4 tire. Over the past 3000 miles this winter, it's like I have a new car. The traction is outstanding. Almost feels like a Z-rated summer tire on dry roads, and the wet performance in heavy rain is very good. On the highway, I get no sense of any hydroplaning even in the rain. Of course, it is not, nor ever will be a snow tire, but it performs well enough in Indiana's snow the past few months to get by just fine. I feel very safe flying down the highway at 75 mph with these tires, and I feel that the traction I have with these tires is many times better than the OEM Dunlops. I would seek out Michelin Primacys on any new car my family purchases over other brands for that reason alone. For an all season tire, they're outstanding.

Car from stock either comes with Bridgestone's or Michelin's. Mine came with Michelin's but the MXV4's. I deceided i wanted better handling. So went from V to M. What a huge difference. The car hugs the road now and sits on it. It also rides so quit and smooth. But the handling is like night and day from the other Michelins. Don't know whay they don't put them on stock. Hightly reccomnend.

...Extremely quiet, comfortable smooth ride, even at high highway speeds, with almost no noise or vibration from the tire...

A very well behaved tire that you can really count on. Extremely quiet, comfortable smooth ride, even at high highway speeds, with almost no noise or vibration from the tire. Able to take the the entrance/exit cloverleafs at good speed with no concern, and very well be haved for fast lane changes/unexpected evasive maneuvers -- won't let you down. Rain performance is really excellent - the tire has never gotten squirrely on me, even in a good downpour.

My only gripe with the tire is it is not a very aggressive looking tread and side wall design, but that's just cosmetic.

These tires came OEM on my Lexus. Very happy with them throughout their life. 34k miles brought them down to 4/32nds, and they were getting a little louder on coarse pavement and a little squirrelly in the rain so it was time to replace them in my opinion, someone else may have gotten another 10k miles out of them before they were at the wear bars. Very smooth and quiet, yet surefooted and sporty. Would definitely buy again, what kept them off the car as replacements was price. Always balanced perfectly and held the balance well. Only fault really is that they're expensive...
