Pirelli pushes the performance envelope with the P6000. A totally innovative, freshly patented "new wave" tread design which incorporates an almost continuous, and therefore exceptionally stable, tread block running from the center to the shoulder of the tire, separated by elliptical water clearing channels running across the tread area. Born in CAD/CAM experiments, this unique tread design combines tread block stability with wet weather safety while minimizing noise generation. Pirelli's warranty does not cover tires that develop compound cracking due to use in ambient temperatures below 45° Fahrenheit (7° Celsius), so the P6000, like all summer tires, is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

With the latest generation of silica based compounds, Pirelli technologists have solved the problem of mixing silica and black fillers with synthetic polymers to provide exceptional low rolling resistance and high wet grip.

The "unseen invention" of Pirelli, the P6000 casing has been specifically designed to reduce weight and to amplify the attributes of the new tread pattern and compound combination. Reduced unsprung masses, reduced rolling resistance, enhanced comfort and up to 186 mph (300 km/hr) performance in one technological package.

Pirelli P6000 Reviews

Customers think the Pirelli P6000 delivers excellent dry traction (8-10 scores dominate) and generally reliable wet performance, though some note hydroplaning risks in heavy rain. Ride comfort receives mixed feedback, with many praising smooth handling but others criticizing inconsistent noise levels. Treadwear is a key concern, with numerous low scores (0-5 range) highlighting premature wear despite the tire's summer-focused design. High-performance drivers appreciate its confident cornering and responsive steering, aligning with its summer tire strengths, but durability issues may deter those prioritizing long-term value.

...the grip / handling is superb even in the wet.

I ve been using these tires for a few years now, and the grip / handling is superb even in the wet. Previous tires on this car were PZeros and the P6000 are just as good.

I rated threadwear N/A because as high performance tires, longevity doesn’t matter… I always pick tires with lowest possible threadwear ratings.

I really hope Pirelli doesn’t discontinue them !

The Pirelli P6000 has been an excellent tire from the time of first purchase. The tires have been quiet and comfortable as well as grippy in the dry and particularly in the wet! While driving in the rain, the tires grip the road as if it was dry inspiring great confidence!!

An excellent tire and they are wearing extremely well with plenty of tread left at 20,000 miles even though I drive aggressively!

I would highly recommend this excellent tire to anyone!!

...Very good tire in the wet as well...

This is my second set of P6000 and I love them. In the past I used PZeros on this car but they were no longer available in 15 size. Excellent grip and terrific handling make them perfect for spirited driving.

Very good tire in the wet as well

When looking for tires I always go for the lowest threadwear to maximize grip. Yes the P6000 isnt cheap and being softer they wont last much over 10k miles but the tires are the only part of my car which touches the road...

...Great tires for agressive driving. Love them...

My fourth or fifth set of P6000. Great tires for agressive driving. Love them. With pretty much the lowest thread wear rating for road tires, they don’t last very long, I usually get 7-8000 miles out of them. But well worth it.

...far most the best performance tires Ive bought so far...

Ive had these tires on my car for 2500 miles I am a more than spirited driver, I race my car at the local tracks, always speeding in the city, i ride them pretty hard, but these tires are not for those who want to ride them 30k miles or more there a treadwear of 180 meaning "High-Performance" meaning there not meant to be driven all year round you pay what you get for (Performance) Think its expensive its a reasonable price, but far most the best performance tires Ive bought so far. And for most of those who end up having bad tire wear you should check your cars allignment, cambers for those who lower your cars, especially weekly check the tire pressure, and rotate these every 5k miles for those who have fun with them and you should be able to get the most out of these tires. ...The ride is suprisingly comfortable on the highway and around town...

Good set of performance tires for the money. They will handle great through cornering at high speeds. With the AWD they just hold the road while boost is running. I had these on for the first snow storm in 2004 and the traction wasnt there but what can you expect from a performance tire in the snow? The ride is suprisingly comfortable on the highway and around town. Good all around performance tire for the slightly aggressive driver.

These tires have been a nice surprise -- a nice compromise of handling and comfort -- with no significant downsides and a reasonable price. Ive heard people say that the BMW E39 5-Series is not kind to its tires, but at least so far, no problems with these Pirellis.

This is my second Saab that has been delivered with a set of Pirelli tires. My first Saab was a 9-3 Arc. The first set of Pirellis lasted less than 10,000 miles before wearing out. I was advised a manufacturing defect existed, but since Pirelli did not provide a treadwear warranty, they refused to correct the matter. Fortunately, Saab stood behind their vehicle and replaced the tires with another brand, even though there was no requirement to do so.

The P6000s on my 9-5 have less than 15,000 miles and 9 months on them and already need to be replaced (I use Goodyear snow tires on the car in the winter) even though I have them rotated by the dealer every 5,000 miles and check the air pressure weekly.

Because of my experience with Pirelli treadwear on my first Saab, I almost refused delivery of my Aero 9-5 when I saw the P6000s on it. I finally accepted delivery of the vehicle (reluctantly) and, as I feared, my second experience has been almost as bad as the first. Of course, I anticipate Pirelli will do nothing to correct this matter either.

The road noise from the P6000s is unbearable, especially on rough roads. My Goodyear winter snow tires make less noise. Also, the ride is very harsh and I was not impressed with the traction on rainy days (the poor tread life may have contributed to this).

The Pirellis were fairly good in terms of responsiveness and cornering stability, although I have found other less expensive tires to be better in this area.

In conclusion, I would not recommend these tires or brand name. This also includes any OEM new car deliveries as well. If you can specify another brand, you should consider this option.
