The G-MAX AS-07 hones over a century of General Tire's development into an Ultra High Performance All-Season tire designed for the driving needs of sporty sedans, crossovers, SUVs and light trucks looking for a tire that delivers the fine handling characteristics they expect and can also handle a myriad of weather conditions, even light snow.
Building on the success of their previous innovations, the G-MAX AS-07 features a performance-focused compound molded into a new asymmetric tread pattern for adaptable year-round performance. A strong center rib provides responsive steering and solid on-center feel, while the wide outboard tread blocks put more rubber on the road to maintain grip under hard, high-speed cornering. A trio of circumferential grooves starting from the inboard shoulder join a fourth, staggered outboard groove to resist hydroplaning, directing water from the contact patch when the road turns wet. The G-MAX AS-07 was intended to withstand the cold too, with an all-season compound and siping to ensure the biting edges necessary for snow traction are there for every revolution of the wheel.
Internally, the G-MAX AS-07 features a polyester body casing extended into a high turn-up in the sidewall for additional reinforcement and stability at high speeds. Twin steel belts capped with a dual-layer polyamide reinforcement cap support the tread for uniform handling and durability.

I am very pleased with these tires meeting my needs for ice and wet traction conditions. I replace the OEM tires which had 7500 miles because they were "All-Weather" which meant they were not best for any weather.

...I bought these pirelli's to resolve the problem, and the difference between the summer and this are night and day when it comes to low temperature, snow, or ice driving. I feel 0 hesitation in the car when I drive on snow or ice, and in freezing rain conditions it works perfectly...
Due to blizzard conditions and a severe lack of snow removal or mitigation infrastructure in the city, the streets near my housing complex remained unplowed for weeks on end. Desperate, I needed a set of winter tires to replace the summer tires that came on my car so that I could safely navigate my way out without the risk of crashing the new car. I bought these pirelli's to resolve the problem, and the difference between the summer and this are night and day when it comes to low temperature, snow, or ice driving. I feel 0 hesitation in the car when I drive on snow or ice, and in freezing rain conditions it works perfectly. Of course if I did full ice driving I would want to have studded tires but these would do in a pinch. I no longer feel trepidation or worry when I drive in inclement winter conditions with these tires on the S5. As with any winter tire, they do seem to feel mushy when the temperature increases, and now that spring is on the way I will certainly move back to the summers, but will keep these in stock for future winters to come!
Ps. The inclination to drive in snow conditions and the excitement about doing so with these tires is marvelous.

...These have climbed every time, every slick surface. And with 1800 total miles, the computer says my avg (2 mos) MPG is 36.4 not bad for cold temps, new engine break-in and a heavy (4950#), powerful hybrid sedan. I'll add that I don't push the traction envelope as much as I used to, and especially not on winter tires with who-knows-what ice around the curve, but these tires perform very stably and quietly...
Oscar, my friendly TR agent researched, found the unlisted size and resurrected this order 45 days after my first deal fell through. Being Porsche NO-certified and using 18" wheels (normal 20" Turbo wheels) and shipping from CT to Albany NY, made this a "perfect fit" for my new Panamera S E-Hybrid...virtually next day service just in time for our first Noreaster. I've got only 1000 miles on these SottoZero Series II tires, but notice they are even quieter than the OEM Pirellis (all season) that came with the car and they perform VERY well. I live at sea level on the Hudson River and EVERYWHERE is uphill from here...that's made even more challenging by our city plow team; These have climbed every time, every slick surface. And with 1800 total miles, the computer says my avg (2 mos) MPG is 36.4 not bad for cold temps, new engine break-in and a heavy (4950#), powerful hybrid sedan. I'll add that I don't push the traction envelope as much as I used to, and especially not on winter tires with who-knows-what ice around the curve, but these tires perform very stably and quietly...and they don't even look like chunky M&S tread. Many thanks to Oscar and the TR team for 20 years of high-performance (BMW 5 series) tires.

...My driving impressions are good comfort, excellent dry traction, excellent wet traction, cornering, and also low noise...
Given this is one of the few non-summer tire choices for my 997.2 Carrera it’s been a nice surprise. These tires allow for a cold weather jaunt on a sunny day. My driving impressions are good comfort, excellent dry and wet traction, cornering, and also low noise … and they are quite a bit more comfortable than the Pilot Sport summer tires I took off. May end up keeping them on year round even though they probably will only last 10k mi or so,

These are definitely the best driving snow tires I’ve ever owned on dry and wet roads. Feel barely different from my ultra high performance summer tires. Which is nice in November where I live but as it gets farther into winter they weren’t the best I’ve ever owned in snow. In deeper snow they performed pretty well, could keep traction never got stuck. But in slush and ice they were not as good as I hoped they would be. Definitely quite a bit of slipping in slush and braking on ice was worse than I had seen from Blizzaks or Nokian tires, had ABS and traction control kick in at times. Especially when going uphill. Still acceptable but just not great. I’d recommend for a place where you get a lot of light powder and not a ton of ice or slush, if you are going to be driving 70/30 in dry/wet roads and not as much snow I’d go for them because they are much better for that than any snow tires I’ve ever owned. I’m going to use them for one more winter because I couldn’t justify buying new tires with only one season on these. But next winter I’ll be getting a more pure snow tire such as a Blizzak.

...Most amazing thing about this tire is its comfort, period. It's the most comfortable winter tire I've ever had, in 20 years of driving on all sorts of dedicated winter tires on all sorts of vehicles. Magic carpet smooth and quiet in 12 degrees F or even in 50 degrees F...
Got this for the New England winters for the 911 991.2 Base. Haven't had snow or even ice to drive in yet this winter but plenty of driving in cold subzero temps, as well as above 45 degree warmer weather as well. Also auto-crossed the tire at a winter PCA event. My impressions so far: Most amazing thing about this tire is its comfort, period. It's the most comfortable winter tire I've ever had, in 20 years of driving on all sorts of dedicated winter tires on all sorts of vehicles. Magic carpet smooth and quiet in 12 degrees F or even in 50 degrees F. Yet, they still perform to support my hard-driven 911. Despite their comfort, I want for no other tire when it's colder than 40 F degrees or so. At 30 degrees F, they harden really nicely and are even trackable, capable of supporting Hooningan driving. Above 45 F, they start to get soft and mushy like most winter tires, and you have to dial back hard braking, lest you'll invoke some ABS. In the colder temps where they shine, dynamic driving is well supported on HWY, local roads and under extreme pre-corner braking. I couldn't be happier with these tires and I don't care that Pirelli since came out with a Sottozero 3. These are all I need for dry winter driving, hard.
As for snow and ice, and tread-wear, I'll get back to you on that when I have the experience to report. If you're wondering whether to pick these up on clearance deals or what have you, don't hesitate. These tires way exceeded my expectations. If you need a tire to give you summertime performance in the dead of winter cold, look no further. If you need snow capability, I defer to others who may have tested that.

...It is quieter than the Blizzak and more comfortable.
This set was a replacement of the Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 as it was getting too old. As compared to the Blizzak when both were new, the Sottozero has noticeably less traction in snow and ice. Traction control was triggered more frequently. It is quieter than the Blizzak and more comfortable.

Customers praise the Pirelli Winter Sottozero Serie II's treadwear, with most scoring 9s and 10s for excellent durability in winter conditions. High ratings highlight reliable performance across snow and ice, though a few note lower scores (5-7) in extended seasonal use.

This tire has good tread quality. I've used this winter tire for two snow seasons and still the tread looks like new. But I'm not satisfied with the grip it has even on cold dry road. When doing a hard acceleration, traction control light turns on immediately and the car keep fish tailing until I let go off the accelerator. But overall, this is a good tire. Just that it's not an apt tire for a rear wheel drive CTS-V
