The Encounter AT2 is Sumitomo's Off-Road All-Terrain tire developed for drivers of pickup trucks, crossovers and SUVs who want off-pavement capability and durable construction combined with confident all-season traction. The Encounter AT2 has sufficient light snow traction to meet the tire industry's severe snow service requirements and earn the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Using a rugged, all-terrain compound molded into a 4-rib symmetric, high-void pattern, the Encounter AT2 is designed to perform on any surface. The open tread design features an optimized pattern to reduce noise and smooth out the on-road experience, while the variable-width shoulder lugs move sand, rocks and other debris out of the tread for strong off-road grip. Circumferential grooves evacuate water from the contact patch for confident grip where standing water is present. Winter-focused 3D Wave Sipes in the shoulders work together with the independent tread blocks to provide the biting edges needed for snow traction.

The Encounter AT2's internal construction consists of a two-ply polyester casing beneath two wide steel belts. A jointless polyamide reinforcement adds increased support for enhanced stability and smooth handling.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.
