The HTR A/S P03 is Sumitomo's Ultra High Performance All-Season tire developed for drivers of sports cars, sporty coupes and powerful sedans, looking to capture the performance they crave from their vehicles. Combining Sumitomo's advanced technologies, the HTR A/S P03 is designed to blend dry, wet and wintertime traction for a combination of high performance handling and stability, even in light snow.

A silica-enhanced, all-season compound is molded into the HTR A/S P03's asymmetric tread pattern which is optimized to reduce profile deformation while cornering, improving handling and stability. A solid, high-tension bead apex promotes sidewall rigidity while cornering, increasing steering feel and response. The advanced "fin" design molded into the outboard intermediate rib feeds water evacuation channels that continue to the outboard shoulder, reducing hydroplaning for increased stability in wet conditions. Inclement weather traction is further enhanced by the HTR A/S P03's "Miura-Ori" sipes molded into the outboard rib, helping the tire maintain its connection to the road surface in wet and wintertime conditions. Cross-design grooves and sipes built into the inboard ribs further enhance road contact, with a focus on maximizing winter traction.

The HTR A/S P03 features a robust, two-ply polyester casing designed to increase durability and maintain ride comfort. A twin-reinforced steel belt package further enhances reliability and is wrapped with a full-width nylon reinforcement to help maintain high speed integrity and stability.

Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 Reviews

Feedback consistently shows the Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 delivers excellent dry traction (9-10 scores dominate) and strong wet performance with reliable hydroplaning resistance, aligning well with its Ultra High Performance All-Season design. Winter traction earns praise from most users for snowy conditions (7-8 range common), though a few note reduced confidence on ice. Comfort receives high marks for smoothness and low noise, while treadwear ratings (7-9) suggest durable performance for all-season use. While a small subset reported lower winter scores (3-5), the tire's balanced handling and year-round capability satisfy drivers prioritizing confident dry/wet grip and refined ride quality.

...I've never had any issues with traction in heavy rain with these tires...

I needed new tires after going from 15” to 17” wheels, and I bought these mainly based on price and previous experience with other Sumitomo tires. So far, they’ve exceeded my expectations. I’ve never had any issues with traction in heavy rain with these tires, and despite not being ideal for winter weather, they were acceptable in light snow/slush.

The ride quality is better than I was expecting and was not a noticeable downgrade from that of the Continental ControlContact Tour A/S tires that were on the previous set of 15” wheels. The noise level is higher, though. It’s not bad at all on my car, but on something with poor sound deadening, this could be a problem.

The noise level and the somewhat dull, heavy on-center steering feel are my only two minor knocks against this tire. As a UHP tire with a relatively low treadwear rating, the wear is not going to be amazing, but so far, the tires aren’t wearing excessively.

Overall, I’m very pleased with these tires. The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus would have been my preferred choice, but at the time of purchase, these were so much less expensive that it made more sense to go with these even though they’re not quite as good. So far, I have no regrets with that decision.

...its water-channeling and resistance to aquaplaning were impressive during torrential downpours, even in water-pooled tire tracks on well-worn highways...

I've always preferred quiet tires, but more so with my electric cars. It's too soon/new to tell if they will stay quiet as they wear.

The car came with 40-series Continentals. I changed to 55-series Sumitomo HTR's on smaller diameter wheels.
Whereas the handling isn't as crisp, the ride is much more comfortable and even quieter by 4 to 5dB on the same road. I use my watch to measure sound level, so it's not very scientific but at least somewhat empirical.

It's too early to give any details on snow and ice, but its water-channeling and resistance to aquaplaning were impressive during torrential downpours, even in water-pooled tire tracks on well-worn highways – however keeping in mind that it's a near-5000 lb vehicle, with a very low CG.

...Even in the snow they grip well...

The tire does not roll into a corner. It grips firmly in and out of corners. Reacts when you need to make evasive decisions. Breaking is on the money. I would say the same thing during wet weather conditions. Even in the snow they grip well. All around tire. Try it for yourself.

...One night before a flight it snowed about 6 inches... The deep snow didn't stop us. We have AWD and with the Sumitomos we were unstoppable...

I live in the Denver Metro area. Where I live we get more snow then downtown. One night before a flight it snowed about 6 inches. My wife was worried about missing the flight. I told her we'll be fine. We were. The deep snow didn't stop us. We have AWD and with the Sumitomos we were unstoppable. On the way to the airport, its about a 40 min drive going 80, we saw many cars, trucks and SUVs that were stuck. We made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare. I ran a set of Blizzaks before buying the Sumitomos and although the traction was marginally better the Blizzaks were VERY loud on dry roads. I'll definitely buy these again.

...They feel planted during heavy rain and responsive during highway merges...

Review: Sumitomo Tires - One Year Later
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’m writing this review after a full year of driving on these Sumitomo tires, and I have to say, they have exceeded my expectations for a mid-tier tire. I purchased these from Tire Rack, and the experience from delivery to performance has been seamless.

The Highlights:
Ride Quality: Even after 12 months, the ride remains quiet and smooth. They absorbed road vibrations much better than the previous set I had.
Wet & Dry Traction: Living in a climate with varying weather, I’ve found the grip to be reliable. They feel planted during heavy rain and responsive during highway merges.
Tread Wear: I’ve checked the tread depth recently, and they are wearing very evenly. For the price point, the longevity is impressive.
Value: These are arguably the best "bang for your buck" tires on Tire Rack. You get premium-leaning performance without the "big brand" markup.
Final Verdict:
If you're looking for a dependable workhorse tire that doesn't compromise on safety or comfort, I highly recommend Sumitomo. After a year of daily driving, I’d definitely buy these again.

So far I am pleased with this tire. They have very good hydroplane resistance and very good dry grip. I have dedicated snow tires, therefore I can not verify their performance in snow. The tires are quiet at highway at speeds.

The ride has been smooth and quiet this past year...

The ride has been smooth and quiet this past year. Initially one of the tires was difficult to balance. (Using a road force balancer) They were a good purchase in my opinion.
It feels like I’m getting more wheel spin on hard acceleration now than when they were new, but that’s a very “seat of the pants” assessment.

...I have to say what a good tire these are and the price especially is very cheap and you get a good name brand tire and a 65,000 milage rating. You cant beat that!...

Update: After having these tires several thousand miles and for over a year I must say they are a great tire. In general I always purchased Vredestein tires for my new vehicles when removing the junk OEM tires. This time I wanted to try another brand for the heck of it and after a ton of research I went with the Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 and am glad I did. They have done everything the several sets of Vredestein tires I have owned did. The Sumitomo does great on wet roads and has great traction in heavy rains and feels very stable against hydroplaning and sticks to the road. It also does very well in the snow. We just had a snow storm that gave us around 9 inches of snow and it did amazing getting me to work and home each day and night while feeling safe and secure with no sliding or spinning. Sure a snow tire will do better and an all weather tire may do better in snow and ice. However after owning the Vredestein Quatrac, Quatrac 5, Quatrac Pro and the first generation Goodyear Weather ready these tires have done everything just as well for me in all driving conditions! Our driveway is in the rear of our house and you have to go up a steep alley to get to it. At the bottom you have to make a 90 degree turn and start up the hill and you can get no speed up for the hill and this tire went up it fine and my Kicks is front wheel drive only. I was impressed. Also our alley regularly gets ice as water flows down it all the time it seems and then it freezes. These tires have really strong grip on ice for some reason and I was surprised at that. I have to say what a good tire these are and the price especially is very cheap and you get a good name brand tire and a 65,000 milage rating. You cant beat that! They also have a very stable and solid ride with a smooth ride quality and road noise is low. So if you are looking at these Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 tires because they are affordable go for it they are a very good tire for the money and perform excellent
