Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus (Original Equipment) Reviews

User experiences show the Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus delivers excellent comfort and quiet ride, with many scores hitting 9-10 in these categories. Treadwear receives mixed feedback, with some customers noting concerns about uneven wear or shorter lifespan despite high mileage claims. Winter traction scores (often 0-3) reveal significant struggles in snow and ice, a notable weakness for an all-season tire. Wet traction shows split results (5-8 range), with some drivers reporting hydroplaning risks or reduced confidence in heavy rain. Dry traction earns consistent praise (7-10), with customers highlighting responsive handling and stable cornering for daily driving. While strong in comfort and dry performance, winter capability and tread durability may disappoint some users.

...I haven't noticed any traction or performance issues under any circumstances...

These Bridgestone Ecopias came from the factory on my new 2023 Durango. I thought about changing them for my preferred Michelins, but decided to run them for awhile. They haver performed very well and ride smoothly on the highway. Snow performance has been OK, not as good as my Michelin Defenders on my previous Durango, but not bad. I haven't noticed any traction or performance issues under any circumstances. They are wearing very well at 2 years and 27,000 miles, so I see no reason to replace them for at least another year or two. Much better than expected given other reviewers' negative comments.

I am writing all this today to tell anyone reading this that if this tire were not $271 I would seriously consider putting them on the truck again...

I bought my 2022 Durango brand new and one of the first things I investigated was the tires. Mine has the 265/50-20s on it. The reviews were really bad bordering on scary, to the point that I almost replaced them within days of buying the truck. I was really worried that these tires were not safe for my wife to be driving on. I decided to keep them on a short leash and intentionally pushed them anytime we had foul weather early on. I drive 30k plus miles a year and drive hard, and when I say I pushed them what I really mean is I was looking for the limits. I wanted to know if they were safe or not. I am writing all this today to tell anyone reading this that if this tire were not $271 I would seriously consider putting them on the truck again. Currently they have about 42k on them and they are down to about 3/32. They are still as quiet and ride as well as they did the day I brought the truck home. I will say the reviews are pretty accurate about snow and ice, they're not great. With that said, many times now I've had them in filmy snow and light slush at highway speeds for hundreds of miles and never had them scare me or do anything unpredictable. So, to anyone as panicked as I was by some of these reviews, don't be, you might be surprised, these turned out to be a very good tire!

...This has to be the worst set of SUV tires I have ever driven...

I can't believe that Jeep would use these tires on a vehicle. This has to be the worst set of SUV tires I have ever driven. They do fine on smooth dry pavement. They perform average in wet weather, but require the driver to pay close attention to puddles at highway speed and they are downright dangerous in light snowy conditions. These might be suitable for a place where it rarely rains and never snows, but there is absolutely nothing about them that should be considered "All Season".

...In fall I noticed wet traction felt unsure/slippery, and in heavy rain felt like I was sliding or hydroplaning...

I got this tire as part of a new SUBARU Forester 2024 bought at the end of the model year as they were bringing in the 2025’s. The first winter it wasn’t great for very light snow traction, but the second year it was horrible. In fall I noticed wet traction felt unsure/slippery, and in heavy rain felt like I was sliding or hydroplaning. Once winter hit, it felt out right dangerous on even light snow, with only 20k miles. It provided bad traction on turns, and barely kept a straight line on highway snow.
I’m now getting them removed and in their place the Michelin x climate 2. If you drive any snow, this is not a good all season option. Apparently they’re good for roll resistance and gas mileage. The cost of the early new tires blew any savings I got on gas mileage.

...Everything but dry traction is also worse. As others have commented snow\ice traction is miserable. I've had multiple instances of sliding sideways on corners at very low speeds...

OE on my new CRV. The first year on these tires was decent for ride, traction, noise. After 20K things turned for the worse. Road noise is noticeable worse. Everything but dry traction is also worse. As others have commented snow\ice traction is miserable. I've had multiple instances of sliding sideways on corners at very low speeds. So dangerous in fact that these tires will likely need to be replaced by next winter with likely only 35K on them. I have not measured the tread but I'd say by just looking to get 40K out of them would be a lucky. I won't be seeing that.

With respect to them on the CRV, if you do have them be 100% sure to rotate them before the standard oil change light comes on. Amazingly I didn't get that light till approx. 18K miles if I'm remembering correctly. That is way way way too long for both a tire rotation and an oil change (on a 4 cylinder turbo I wouldn't go longer than 5K). I wasn't thinking and waited. After that first oil change I rotated and have even more excessive road noise. I suspect uneven wear although not really visible to the naked eye. Additionally don't expect the CRV traction control to bail you out. In the instances I've lost traction in snow I have failed to detect it even intervening.

Love Tire Rack. Made multiple purchases over the years. Love their standard warranty as well. If your buying low profile tires its well worth buying here just for that.

...Traction is ok in the dry and fair in the wet...

Factory OEM tire for my 2022 Toyota Venza. Horrible noisy tires that don’t last. Quit likely the worst tire that I have ever had. Especially when you factor in how much they cost. Traction is ok in the dry and fair in the wet. I have driven in very little snow with these tires, but they are not confidence inspiring.

...Forget any winter traction, AWD barely helps in this respect...

Original Equipment tires, car was bought brand new, we've put all but 8 miles on these tires. Forget any winter traction, AWD barely helps in this respect. Normal city driving is decent, average cornering under low to moderate load. Spirited cornering is not as stable as expected. Highway driving is fairly comfortable, but more road noise than expected. Wet traction is decent, but only under low to mid load. Tires rotated every 5k, at 25k miles tread depth is 3/32 for each tire, tires have worn evenly, about the only real positive.
For such an expensive tire off the rack, they are a horrible value.
Would only recommend these if they were free, and only needed to drive to get them replaced.

Highly upset with these tires, down to 3/32 after only 16k miles and being forced to shell out 1k on a set of decent tires a year after buying a new car. I really wish we had been given a choice on the tires when buying our car but it looks like OEM tires on many/most new cars are purposely chosen as the cheapest & worst available just to save a buck. No warranty available on OEM tires either

These are the worst garbage OEM tires I have ever owned! Treadwear is rated at 600, but they were shot at 22,000 with normal rotations & normal driving. They were great for the first 10,000 miles & then go downhill fast & become unsafe. I would advise if you're buying a new Lexus with these rubish tires, STOP & demand another brand. These tires are a total rip-off for this level of vehicle.
