The Solus TA71 is Kumho's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for sporty coupes and luxury performance sedans and the people who love to drive them. Designed to combine responsive handling with quiet comfort, Solus TA71 tires deliver all-weather traction, even in light snow.
Solus TA71 tires feature Kumho's advanced nano silica compound that is engineered to disperse heat for extended treadlife and traction in cold temperatures. This compound is molded into an asymmetric tread design to create a contact area that promotes grip and steering response in any weather. Four wide grooves evacuate water to promote wet traction and resist hydroplaning while precisely angled snow sipes create tiny gripping edges that are fine-tuned for traction on cold, slick surfaces.
Kumho's ESCOT Casing Technology optimizes sidewall cord tension distribution to promote steering response and treadlife. The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon to enhance high-speed stability. Use of jointless bead bundles help isolate bumps and vibration for a smoother, quieter ride.

I have been impressed with the wet traction and find they do not hydroplane like the others...
I now have 30,000 miles on these tires. I replaced a set of Yokohama tires with these. I have been impressed with the wet traction and find they do not hydroplane like the others. The wear appears to be good, but they are as noisy as the other tires. I think part of the problem may be due to car's suspension. This is a small price for the control and wear the tires are giving me at this time. I am happy with these and would put these on my list when I am ready to replace them.

...They provide a smooth, quiet, comfortable ride as well as excellent traction on wet roads...
I just had these tires installed a couple of weeks ago and I'm very happy with them so far. They provide a smooth, quiet, comfortable ride as well as excellent traction on wet roads. They cost a little more than the OEM tires, but so far they seem to be worth it. As an Uber driver, I have to keep keep an eye on operating costs, so I'm hoping they last longer than the OEM tires also. They also have a higher load rating than the OEM tires, providing extra peace of mind when my vehicle is loaded with passengers and their luggage. If these tires have a long life and continue to perform this well, I won't hesitate to buy them again.

Customers overwhelmingly rate dry traction highly, with most scores being 9s and 10s. The Kumho Solus TA71 delivers responsive handling and confident grip in dry conditions, performing excellently as a Grand Touring All-Season tire. A few 7-8 scores still reflect solid capability for everyday driving.

...The traction on dry pavement has been great...
I picked up a set of 4 of these Kumho's based on the reviews I read here. I was in desperate need of tires for my car as the Bridgestone tires that were on the car when I bought it were shot, they were extremely loud and stiff. The deal on these tires was really good and it got even better with a rebate from Kumho. Once I had the tires installed I almost couldn't believe I was driving the same car, the tires were so quiet I just couldn't get over how different the car felt on the road. The tires have been on my car now for about 2,500 miles and I am very pleased so far. I drive a decent amount of highway miles via the turnpike and the Kumho Solus have not disappointed me. They are very quiet, even at high speed and they are responsive in handling. The traction on dry pavement has been great and the performance in rain (sometimes heavy downpours) has been a pleasant surprise. I've been on the highway in some very heavy rain and I have not had any issues with traction or handling. Today was the first chance I've had to try the tires in the snow and I was not disappointed. The car was responsive in handling and traction, as good as you can expect in bad conditions. I was not driving at normal speeds due to the conditions but I also felt like I was in full control of the car without worrying about traction. I'm impressed with these tires at this point, I hope they continue to perform well and I can get some mileage out of them. I like them so much I may pick them up for my other Infiniti.

...Regarding the handling, they don't turn-in quite as quick as I'd hope, but once in the turn they grip very well on dry. Feedback from the road is also very good...
I only have 100 miles or so on these tires, but wanted to post my initial impressions for anyone on the fence. I wanted a set of all seasons that offered a smooth ride and were quiet....all while being responsive enough for a sports sedan. So far the tires are very quiet and run very smoothly. Regarding the handling, they don't turn-in quite as quick as I'd hope, but once in the turn they seem to grip very well on dry. Feedback from the road is also very good. Haven't had any chance yet in the rain, but I'm guessing they'll do just fine. Overall I'm very pleased them, but time will tell how they act with mileage. First time purchasing this brand, so a bit of a gamble, but the price was right considering the current rebate offer.

...The good about them is that so far for an inexpensive Tire they hold to the road fairly well in wet or dry conditions...
I bought these tires because the price was right and they came with a good rebate incentive. The good about them is that so far for an inexpensive Tire they hold to the road fairly well in wet or dry conditions. The ride Comfort level is also quite good considering. The noise from these tires, however, is the worst I have ever heard from any level of quality set of tires. The old tires on my dad's 78 Chevy pickup are much quieter than these brand new ones on my Kia Optima. The noise level alone is what would make me never order these tires again.

Customers praise the Kumho Solus TA71's excellent ride quality, with most scoring 9s and 10s for comfort. High marks highlight smooth, quiet performance ideal for grand touring, though some mixed feedback exists on noise levels.

...Pleasant ride, handle the way a Mini should, quiet!...
Excellent tires. Replaced the nasty run flats the Mini came with. Those tires were no better than wooden cartwheels and they handled badly.
The Kumho (had them before) are just great. Pleasant ride, handle the way a Mini should, quiet! And surprisingly affordable. Will buy again!

Winter traction ratings show concerning inconsistency, with many scores between 0-5 for ice/snow performance. While some rate 7-8, frequent reports of slippery conditions and unstable handling suggest this all-season tire struggles in its intended winter use.

...This winter, in the lightest of snow, I have been unable to get out of my driveway because I have NO traction. I had to back into my dry garage and get a running start to get through 3 inches of snow up a slight incline...ridiculous...
I bought these tires in September 2016. They have less then 15,000 miles on them, they were rotated twice and they have unacceptable and excessive treadware. This winter, in the lightest of snow , I have been unable to get out of my driveway because I have NO traction. I had to back into my dry garage and get a running start to get through 3 inches of snow up a slight incline....ridiculous. So, less then 2 years and <20,000 miles I have to replace them. I read the other reviews before I purchased these and am now totally confused by their comments "Good in the snow." "Long treadlife." What a waste of money.

...Avoid the road noise and poor wet / snowy condition traction and go with another tire.
I wold not recommend these tires. Experienced significant cupping after 15K miles, and very limited tread remaining at 30K. Tire was fairly well recommended on this site at time of purchase (July 2016); reviews have declined since. Avoid the road noise and poor wet / snowy condition traction and go with another tire.

While some customers rate treadwear highly (9s/10s), a concerning number report premature wear and dissatisfaction. Scores between 0-6 highlight rapid wear, excessive wear, and early replacements-disappointing for a Grand Touring All-Season tire.

...But the treadlife is a joke. I have 45,000 miles on these tires & they are almost bald! What a joke!...
The handling isn¿t bad. The wet & dry traction is decent. But the treadlife is a joke. I have 45,000 miles on these tires & they are almost bald! What a joke! Sure I can get them pro rated IF I buy another set of Kumo¿s. But why would I want another set of terrible Kumo¿s?? I definitely would not buy this brand again. I do not recommend Kumo. Move on to something else. Im about to buy some Bridgestones. Hopefully I have better luck.

...However, by 10,000 miles the tires became quite noisy and with 14,000 miles on them I would estimate that they will be good for no more than 30-35,000 miles This is mostly highway driving, and easy at that...
These tires replaced OEM Michelins that had 65,000 miles on them with some life left. The TA-71s were initially equal to the OEM tires in every way, including road noise, which was actually better. However, by 10,000 miles the tires became quite noisy and with 14,000 miles on them I would estimate that they will be good for no more than 30-35,000 miles This is mostly highway driving, and easy at that. Overall I am disappointed, and regardless of the lower price based on my experience with many other tires from Tire Rack, Contis or Yokos would have been a better choice and a better value overall. I note too that the customer ratings are lower now than they were when I bought the tires, which seems to reflect my experience as the tires were newly released at the time of purchase.

Will the Kumho Solus TA71 Move to the Head of This Grand Touring All-Season Class? - Winter Update(02:31)
Remember the guy in high school who seemed to be good at everything? Grand Touring All-Season Tires are expected to be that guy. But tires from this category are not specialized enough to be the best in any one subject. So to be a success, they need to at least stand out across the board (including in winter's snow, slush and ice).
Is one of the four tires in this test the perfect fit?
