The Blizzak LM-60 RFT is Bridgestone's Performance Winter / Snow run-flat tire developed exclusively for Mini Cooper, Mazda MX-5 and Lexus IS coupe and convertible models, as well as for BMW X5 sport activity vehicle and BMW X6 sport activity coupe drivers looking to combine winter driving traction on dry, wet and snow-covered roads with temporary extended mobility for a distance of 50 miles at up to 50 mph even after a puncture has allowed complete air pressure loss. The Blizzak LM-60 RFT is designed to combine the basic tread design of the Blizzak WS60 with a high silica tread compound to blend high-speed durability and dry road, cold weather handling with snow traction.

Since the current Multicell tread compounds used on Blizzak winter / snow tires are not designed to support run-flat operation, the Blizzak LM-60 RFT uses a high silica content winter / snow tread compound molded into a directional tread design that features independent tread blocks with 3-D zigzag sipes to disperse water away from the tire's contact patch, further enhancing grip. The combination provides hydroplaning resistance and greater driving and braking force on snow-covered roads.

Featuring Bridgestone's UNI-T Technology, the Blizzak LM-60 RFT's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wound nylon to provide the desired high-speed durability and ride characteristics. The internal structure has been specifically tuned on a size by size basis for the vehicles listed above and features Bridgestone Side Support Run-Flat technology reinforced sidewalls to support the vehicle after a puncture causes a loss of air pressure.

Blizzak LM-60 RFT winter / snow tires meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Install Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 RFT tires in sets of four only.

Due to the traction capabilities of the Blizzak, Bridgestone recommends using Blizzaks only in sets of four to provide the best handling characteristics and tire performance.

...Provides near wet road traction in all snowy or icy conditions and provides lots of confidence that you're going to make it to where you're going...

This tire really makes a difference for winter driving. Provides near wet road traction in all snowy or icy conditions and provides lots of confidence that you're going to make it to where you're going. The thick rubber tread also provides for smooth driving on dry roads. I'll buy them again!

...So, during the brief drive I tried many spirited maneuvers and was surprised by well these winter/ice tires responded. The harsh ride and high noise of the Potenzas disappeared without sacrifice to responsiveness in corning, braking and straight-line handling...

I just had this tire/wheel combination installed and then drove a few miles to put my car in storage. Tire/wheels these replaced are Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position on factory rims, so my comparison here is to "summer" non-RFT tires on "staggered" factory rims. So, during the brief drive I tried many "spirited" maneuvers and was surprised by well these "winter/ice" tires responded. The harsh ride and high noise of the Potenzas disappeared without sacrifice to responsiveness in corning, braking and straight-line handling. I've use Blizzaks on every car I've owned for the past 20 years, so I'm biased, but this is my first very low profile application and I am once mort surprised by how these tires keep improving. The Potenzas are going into storage and I'm going to run these Blizzaks year-around. What a great tire!

I will update this review when I've racked up some serious miles. Stay tuned!

...Good tread wear and pretty good handling on dry roads...

great traction tire for snow, ice and dirt offroad. Good tread wear and pretty good handling on dry roads. Although these are winter tires, I leave them on year round in Seattle to handle our rain and the dirt roads in the mountains. One of the very few run-flat snow tires.

...You do give up a tiny bit of responsiveness on dry roads on warmer days but nothing drastic...

Purchased these along with a set of wheels for my 2012 MINI Cooper S (went down a size to 16" as was recommended). Got them on in time for the latest nor'easter that just came through our area. I have to say that I'd never imagined how secure the car would feel on the road in conditions ranging from freezing rain to about 4 inches of snow on the ground. These tires are all that you read about and more. I've had all wheel drive cars (still do) with all seasons on and the handling in bad wet/snowy conditions doesn't come close in comparison to the Blizzaks. You do give up a tiny bit of responsiveness on dry roads on warmer days but nothing drastic. Set your expectations correctly, no winter tire is going to give you the same performance as your summer/all-seasons. Definitely would recommend these to anyone looking for a set of winters. Also, dealing with TireRack was a pleasure. Would not go anyplace else.

...The only thing I am slightly disappointed with is the tread wear. I have less than 10000 miles on these tires and they are already about half gone...

I drive mostly highway mainly because where I live on the WA/ID border that is what it is. I bought these tires because I heard horror stories about the winters here and I would be commuting 40 miles one way to work everyday. Apparently, this last winter '16-'17, was one of the stormiest and snowiest in many years(I recently moved here from Colorado so I have no personal context to judge by) These tires performed awesome! I never had a problem with grip even in the deepest snow. I commuted early in the morning and one day got out before the plows. I was a bit nervous, I drive a Mini, after all, but my fears were forgotten within a few minutes as I was able to break trail through about 6 inches of fresh snow with no problem. My car did not slip or lose traction once and I was able to maintain a speed of around 45 MPH. Except for the speed, it felt like I was driving to work on any other day. That said, there were a few occasions under hard braking or cornering that I did experience some slipping or sliding but even then, my car did not slide a great distance; these tires stopped me quickly and I never got close to any other cars or going off the road. The only thing I am slightly disappointed with is the tread wear. I have less than 10000 miles on these tires and they are already about half gone. I would definitely buy them again and recommend them to anyone that has lots of snow to deal with.

...come this spring I had the car in the driveway with the wheels turned and the one front tire was BALD only in the middle 3-4 inches of the tire. The edges of the tire looks completely normal like there was no tread wear. I have never seen a tire wear that way and I have never had a tire wear out that quick...

I recent bought these because I had just bought my mini for winter. after my local store not being able to get adjustable tires we settled on these. I have had them 1 season and now have them off, roughly 10,000 miles as I commute to school every day. I live in the northeast, we get snow, ice, rain, bad road maintenance, etc. I was very please with these all season, they were grippy, felt good, and although not the greatest with steering and such, they are what you expect out of a snow/ice tire. I live on a steep dirt road that doesn't get plowed well, these tires made it up all but one night, but it was so icy that night that I couldn't even walk up the hill. I consider myself decent at looking after my car and basically every fill up, every car clean, etc. I would check tire pressure and have a quick glance at tread. that being said I always just looked at the side of the tire when the wheels were straight, come this spring I had the car in the driveway with the wheels turned and the one front tire was BALD only in the middle 3-4 inches of the tire. The edges of the tire looks completely normal like there was no tread wear. I have never seen a tire wear that way and I have never had a tire wear out that quick. I'm sorry but I am not willing to spend $400 a season to buy 2 more tires, my front tires would not even pass inspection. I will most likely not be buying these again

I only get 15000-20000 miles on each set of runflat tires...

I run winter tires from October through April each year. The Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 RFT provides a good balance of wear and performance. The all-around performance of this tire obliterates the other "soft compound" winter tires I have used on this car; Continental ContiContact, and Pirelli Winter Sottozero. I also used non-runflat Michelin winter tires, which only lasted about 18000, with limited improvements in ride quality. I only get 15000-20000 miles on each set of runflat tires, but I think these are the best runflat winter tire available for the MINI Cooper S.
