Special Offers

Highway All-Season tires are for drivers who want a combination of pleasant on-road characteristics, long wear and all-season versatility, including traction in light snow. Highway All-Season tires branded with the M+S symbol are often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on 2WD and 4WD, light- and medium-duty vans, trucks and pickups, as well as crossover and sport utility vehicles.

O.E. Highway All-Season tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle's original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires' performance category and specifications.

Bridgestone Reviews

Feedback demonstrates the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400 excels in comfort with smooth ride quality and noise reduction scoring 7-10. Dry traction receives strong praise (7-10) for reliable grip and stability. However, treadwear shows significant inconsistency, with many ratings below 5 indicating premature wear concerns. Winter traction (common scores 0-5) and wet performance (frequent 3-6 ratings) reveal notable limitations in slippery conditions. While suitable for highway use in fair weather, drivers needing all-season versatility may find its cold-weather and wet capabilities fall short of typical all-season expectations.

...Dry performance is good/great. Quiet and somewhat responsive...

These tires came standard on our FWD CX-9 (Touring) model. We've had no issues with these tires at all with surprisingly little maintenance. I think the only thing I have done to the tires is inflate last winter. No Rotations, No Balancing, nothing. Its only now that I have noticed the front 2 tires need replaced since they have very little tread left on them (front wheel drive). The rears are still functional.

Snow performance is awful. Ice performance, likewise. Try climbing a hill that's got a little snow and forget it, even with all the weight of the CX9.

Dry performance is good/great. Quiet and somewhat responsive.

Wet performance is average as we have had no slippage and live in Dayton, OH where some storms can be severe at times.

All in all these tires aren't bad unless I have not yet realized what another tires quality on the CX9 may bring...Miles per gallon were right on Govt Standards, so tires weren't bad on mileage either.

I will be replacing the front 2 tires soon. I will likely try another set since the ratings these tires get is so low.

My SUV is pretty heavy but it corners beautifully on these tires... Dry traction has been very good, wet traction has been excellent (no aquaplaning ever) and braking is very good...

My current set of H/Ls have just reached the end of their life and I've been reading a lot of reviews trying to figure out what tires to get next. After comparing the reviews here with my personal experience, I'm starting to believe that not only should one look for a good tire but one should also make sure the tire works well with the vehicle; case in point the appalling reviews for the 400 H/L here vs my personal experience.

The 400 H/Ls were OEM equipment on my Audi Q7 and I found them to be excellent. I have driven 32K miles on them, both around town and on long journeys (including driving across one arm of hurricane Andrew, over what looked/felt like several inches of standing water; this was on a trip from California to Texas and back). I have driven the H/L-equipped Q7 in the snow in Nevada (soft/wet snow on the freeway and hard/frozen around the ski resorts). I have never driven it on a properly iced road and I can't comment much on performance in deeper snow but over slush and light snow the car tracks like it's on rails. It's possible that a lot of my positive perception comes from running them on a Quattro-equipped vehicle vs. the "real-time" AWD of vehicles referenced in many reviews here, so take my opinion with a grain of salt unless you drive a Q7, Q5, X5, Cayenne, Subaru or such.

My SUV is pretty heavy but it corners beautifully on these tires. The tires have worn evenly, and I don't think they were ever rotated (not much need to with the rear-biased quattro). I've been running them at or above 45 psi all around. Dry traction has been very good, wet traction has been excellent (no aquaplaning ever) and braking is very good.

I did not find the tire to get noisier with time which is not what I can say for other tires I've had (most notably the Pirellis on my Volvo).

I got 32K miles on them with a very heavy SUV. I'd say for a wear rating of 300 that's spot on.

...Good traction in all wet and dry conditions, but live in florida, so don't know about snow yet...

This tire is firm riding as most commenters mention about the run flats. Not having the noise or excessive tire wear reported by X5 owners, though. These were OEM on my 2010 rav4 sport with sport appearance package. Forty-four thousand miles and still plenty of treadware. Good traction in all wet and dry conditions, but live in florida, so don't know about snow yet. May go north for skiing this winter, will see about traction in snow if so. I had one repaired at local-yokel tire service store when it had a small leak. They plugged it, no problem. Not sure what the nonsense is about some thinking they are nonrepairable. Still not sure I would buy another set though due to high cost and harsh ride.

live in upstate ny / wny. Need a tire that is good in every situation. This tire is good in no situation. It wore out very fast, doesnt corner well at all and simply scary in the inclement weather. The only positive is that the road noise is low and the ride comfort is good. Please do yourself a favor and do not buy this tire.

...They're quiet, ride well, and are lasting longer than I was expecting - given the sorry reviews...

Thumbs up. On my Lexus 450h(ybrid), at 20K miles (in on year) the tires still have 7/32" left. They're quiet, ride well, and are lasting longer than I was expecting - given the sorry reviews. They performed admirably during last winter's extreme low temperatures and snow. Full-throttle starts in rain (295HP AWD) results in traction-control activation. I haven't experienced any hydroplaning nor have I needed to panic stop - so using the 110 ranking above is merely my unscientific comparison against the crappy tires on my truck and the exceedingly performance-oriented summer tires on my German roadster. These tires perform well, are lasting longer than I had been led to believe, and are quiet enough to be unnoticed in my exceptionally-quiet car. I'll consider them against whatever is the "hot new tire" as replacements in another 20K+ miles. Thumbs up.

...The tire was still quiet, comfortable and controlled on dry, wet and gravel trails...

This is a followup to a previous post about my CRV with the Dueler 400 HL. At 3700 miles I noticed no difference in any performance statistic. The tire was still quiet, comfortable and controlled on dry, wet and gravel trails. You still have to remember this is a SUV so its not going to handle like a Corvette. Still very good on highway, city, suburbs, and country roads in dry and heavy rain. I didnt notice any tread wear. Most tires need softer rubber tires like the Michelin Pilot for instance to be replaced at 35,000 miles or so. I'm seeing a lot of angry people that are talking about doing that, but thats normal with a softer tire. Now I also had a chance to drive the CRV in wet roads with wet leaves being that its fall and no problems, no hydroplaning etc. I'm not looking forward to snow, but what to know how it handles in the snow, but I'm willing to bet it will do just fine. We have pretty harsh winters in my area with wind chills down to 25-30 below and wind whipped snow and ice storms sometimes as deep as 12-16" as a moderate storm. Plowing and sanding take place but not always in the capacity you'd like. I'll post that asap and by that time I'll have around 5500 miles on the tires too. I'm seeing people having problems with highlanders and duelers, maybe its the car and not the tires. Time will tell.

These were worse when driving on wet roads during heavy rains in Maryland. I don't feel confident AT ALL with these mounted...

These came stock with the 2014 Forester XT Touring and they're quite possibly the worse tires I've ever owned in rain and snow. Even the crappy, bouncy General UHP tires were more sure-footed. I've owned Subarus before and couldn't believe that Subaru would put these on a brand new vehicle. I noticed how bad they were when I encountered fairly light snow at 35mph. I couldn't believe how easily the tires broke loose! My 2012 Legacy GT with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric A/S tires were so grippy in deep snow at 45-50mph through dead-of-winter Buffalo and Toronto.

These were even worse when driving on wet roads during heavy rains in Maryland. I don't feel confident AT ALL with these mounted. Can't wait to switch them out!

...They have zero traction on any amount of ice, hard packed snow or in slush...

These tires were on the Mazda CX-7 I purchased in February in Denver, CO.

They are, by far, the worst tire I have ever owned. They have zero traction on any amount of ice, hard packed snow or in slush. I can't even get the car up my driveway.

I will be contacting the Dealer to complain about putting such a poor set of tires on a car they KNEW would be driven in winter conditions.

...Incredibly harsh ride, crap for traction and abysmal in the snow...

I have been driving for over 40 years and this tire is without a doubt the worst piece of crap I have ever had the misfortune to experience. About the best that can be said is that it keeps the aluminum rims from being dented. Incredibly harsh ride, crap for traction and abysmal in the snow. They must pay Toyota to install this POS on the car!

This tire looks nice and sporty on my Endeavor SE and it handles nicely on dry pavement but that is the extent of the good comments! Being from SW Pennsylvania, I have driven in bad snow for a very long time and have NEVER had a problem with tire traction until now! I purchased this vehicle in September and then we had a very bad winter. For the first time in 24 years of driving, I was terrified every time I had to drive and it snowed....even just a little. These tires provide very little traction in snow, particularly if it is plowed or packed down! I slid all over the place at very low speeds, it was ridiculous! I have hydroplaned on wet pavement, again at low speeds. I agree with others that this tire is absolutely NOT an all-season! They are incredibly dangerous in the snow! This vehicle was in like-new condition and had clearly been taken care of so I know the tires were not abused. They had about 40,000 miles on them before showing the wear bars. Now I have to replace them and find something else that has the same performance/sporty look but will provide grip in the winter!
