Feedback demonstrates the Bridgestone Dueler H/T D684 II delivers strong dry traction (scores 8-10) and a comfortable ride (7-10), aligning well with its highway all-season purpose. However, treadwear raises concerns with inconsistent ratings (scores 0-10), including reports of premature wear. Winter traction struggles (scores 0-6), with limited grip in snow and ice, while wet traction shows mixed results (scores 0-8) and occasional hydroplaning risks. Good dry traction...
Good all-around tire if your needs are basic. Pros: Ride is comfortable. Tread noise is minimal. Good dry traction. Cons: Treadwear isn't good. I can't see getting more than 20k spirited miles out of a set. Wet traction is horrible. If the roads are even a little damp, these tires will put you into a slide real quick if you aren't careful.

This tire is unsatisfactory in almost every category except dry traction, road comfort and noise. It is a great example of a large automobile manufacturer putting cheap tires on new vehicles at the expense of degrading the vehicles performance. My Toyota 4 Runner only has fair dry pavement performance and otherwise poor performance across the board due to the lack of quality in this Bridgestone product. At only 25,500 miles of easy driving done mostly with no passenger or cargo load, the tread wear is over 65%.
Almost any tire would be a better choice than the Bridgestone Dueler HT.

...their dry and wet traction is confidence inspiring...
These are the OEM tires that came on my FJ Cruiser when purchased new. They have been an excellent all purpose tire for primarily road driving, and I would not hesitate to recommend them. On long road trips, I can get around 24mpg (really good for an FJ), and their dry and wet traction is confidence inspiring. They also handle light snow very well, no questions asked. Haven't had to deal with snow deeper than 6-7", but they'd probably get the job done without complaint.
There are some very negative reviews of these tires, but I've taken them from beach driving on the Outer Banks to off-road parks in the mountains, and dirt back roads from North Carolina to Newfoundland and Labrador. I'd buy them again, no questions asked.

Highway comfort receives strong ratings, with most scoring 8-10 for smooth ride and noise reduction. Some variability exists, but the Dueler H/T D684 II performs excellently in its all-season category.

...The highway ride is remarkably quiet and smooth although the steering is not very responsive. The cushy sidewalls provide great cushion over the terrible pavement in Buffalo...
Tires came factory on my 2017 Silverado double cab w/Max Trailer Pack. I read a lot of the negative reviews about this tire from other users on different trucks and I have to say, I did not experience ANY of the negative spots others have stated. This is a dedicated street tire, they haven't left the pavement. However, they did go through a Buffalo winter and I never really noticed how effective they were in the snow until I drove a Ram with Goodyear Wranglers. They never broke loose unprovoked, as long as I drove responsibly, they behaved properly. I drove through a snow storm from Buffalo to Washington DC at highway speed through winding back roads and with zero drama. The highway ride is remarkably quiet and smooth although the steering is not very responsive.
The cushy sidewalls provide great cushion over the terrible pavement in Buffalo. I would not hesitate to buy these tires if I found myself needing replacements.

...Highway & onroad comfort is also very acceptable for a 20 tire...
So bought this vehicle used from a family member so I know these are the original 684 II's that it came with new. This is a full time 4WD vehicle that is driven almost exclusively on city, county & highway. Snow gets cleared off roads pretty good around here so have only driven in light snow. 1"-2" of snow performance is ok, not great but ok. Take into consideration these tires have a little over 40,000 mi on them & are about half the tread is gone. For a full time 4WD SUV with factory 20" wheels , that's pretty good tread life. We go down to Deals Gap area on vacation quite often and I always make it a point to drive " The Dragon" in whatever vehicle I have at the time when we're down there. Two years ago drove this vehicle with these tires. On the dry roads of "The Dragon" , driving quite spiritedly , was very impressed at how well these tires preformed ! Down hill going into sharp turns only squawked tires once or twice. The wife normally has a death grip on the dash and grab handles at this time. Very impressed with handling performance . Highway noise is very minimal, could be a little better but I'm sure traction would suffer a bit if noise was suppressed . Highway & onroad comfort is also very acceptable for a 20" tire. Also had a 2000 Tundra with the first gen 684's then replaced with the 684 II's at about 60,000 mi so I have a long history liking these tires. Hope Bridgestone continues to manufacture the 684 or a new generation 648 III.

...They are quiet and surprisingly ride really well...
I was not a big fan of the tire when I purchased the vehicle but now that they are near the end of life I've changed my opinion. They are quiet and surprisingly ride really well, I couldn't wear them out no matter how hard I tried. I really can't say anything negative about them either, I never once had to have them balanced but I did rotate at every 5k.

While some customers rate wet traction highly (9s/10s), numerous scores between 0-5 highlight concerns. Reports mention slippery handling, hydroplaning tendency, and mediocre wet performance, disappointing for an all-season highway tire.

...Wet performance after around 20,000 or so has been abysmal.
OEM Tires. Near wear indicator at 44,000 miles. Wet performance after around 20,000 or so has been abysmal.

...Wet traction was very poor throughout the life of the tire, especially when turning and braking at the same time...
OEM tires.
The Good:
Quiet and smooth riding.
Pretty good in snow, drove in 4wd without issue in up to 8" / 20cm of powder, and up to about 5" / 13cm of heavy wet slush/snow; however in 2wd they will spin quite a bit starting out in wet snow, even with very light throttle.
The Neutral:
They were ok for dry conditions, but dry traction started progressively going away starting at around 45,000 miles. They eventually started squealing around almost every corner, despite speed.
The Bad:
Wet traction was very poor throughout the life of the tire, especially when turning and braking at the same time.
No tire is good on ice, but these tires were especially awful. Virtually no traction in some conditions.
The Verdict:
Cannot recommend these to anyone unless they're always in dry conditions.

Winter traction receives concerning scores (many 0-6), with customers reporting slippery conditions, loss of traction, and getting stuck. Some higher scores (7-10) don't offset poor snow/ice performance.

I think it's fair to describe this tire as dangerous in the snow. It is without exaggeration the worst tire in wintry conditions that I have ever experienced, and that includes the summer-specific tires I've had to run a few times under such conditions...
I rarely post reviews of anything but feel a duty to warn people away from this tire if it is to be used in wintry conditions. I think it's fair to describe this tire as dangerous in the snow. It is without exaggeration the worst tire in wintry conditions that I have ever experienced, and that includes the summer-specific tires I've had to run a few times under such conditions.
There really doesn't seem to be any aspect of this tire to recommend it -- not price, not performance in any category. But if you got stuck with them OEM, I'd say they are livable so long as it never gets cold in your region and you're not driving aggressively or doing more than light-duty off roading.

...I will say without a doubt I have never been more scared in my entire life then 2 weeks ago driving down from Powder Mountain Ski Resort with these tires on in a snow storm. These tires should not be sold and should be taken off the market... these garbage tires were nothing but sleds even in 4 low and 1st gear...
These Tires came with my 2021 4 Runner. I live in Utah and have all my life and I Ski every weekend in the winter....I am pretty good at driving in the snow, since I have my whole life in the high mountains. I will say without a doubt I have never been more scared in my entire life then 2 weeks ago driving down from Powder Mountain Ski Resort with these tires on in a snow storm. These tires should not be sold and should be taken off the market. Toyota should also quit using these for their OEM Tires. Why would a company put these tires on a body on frame SUV is beyond me. I have a Second Gen Xterra, that we gave our son, that has Toyo AT II's that never had an issue going up and down that mountain in any snow storm. Granted Powder Mountain Road is one of the steepest roads in America, but these garbage tires were nothing but sleds even in 4 low and 1st gear. As others have said...DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES unless you want to nearly have a nervous breakdown on a snowy day and or get yourself killed. Will be swapping out for Falken Wildpeak at3w's.

Horrible in the rain, snow, and ice. Not acceptable at all. Bridgestone should be ashamed of themselves for this tire...
Horrible in the rain, snow, and ice. Not acceptable at all. Bridgestone should be ashamed of themselves for this tire (and Toyota for putting it on 4Runner's). Off-road the tires are useless. Even in dewed grass, they won't do anything. May be okay for a county maintained gravel road but for those of us that do any off-roading, they are unacceptable. The ride was jarring at best and just about uncontrollable at other times. Steer clear of all potholes because these tires will knock your fillings out. For the price these things cost, you'd be better off getting anything else. I really have nothing good to say about these tires.

Treadwear ratings reveal widespread dissatisfaction, with many scoring 0-5 citing premature wear, rapid tread decline, and early replacement. While some report 8-10 scores, inconsistent longevity plagues this highway all-season tire, leaving numerous customers disappointed in tread life.

Drove 50,000 miles on these tires on my 4 Runner Limited 4WD. I only had to replace all of them due to a flat (nail on the highway; could not be repaired). They still had 5/32 when they were replaced. Never had any issues on South Dakota summer and winter roads. Sure, I drive more careful in ice and snow conditions. Traction was always great though. Not once did the car slip. However, breaking became worse on snow after 40,000 miles.
