The Ecopia H/L 422 Plus is Bridgestone's environmentally conscious Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of crossovers, light trucks and SUVs who want to maximize their vehicle's fuel economy while minimizing its impact on the environment. The Ecopia H/L 422 Plus is designed to provide optimum comfort, long life and sure-footed traction in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even light snow.

The symmetric tread pattern of the Ecopia H/L 422 Plus features closely-spaced elements and has been optimized to resist irregular wear while delivering a smooth and quiet experience. The continuous center and intermediate ribs provide solid on-center feel, along with confident dry braking. Full-depth grooves help retain wet traction over the life of the tire, and the engineered block design aids braking in wet conditions. Four wide, circumferential grooves allow water to flow through the contact patch to resist hydroplaning, and multiple lateral notches and sipes create biting edges that deliver traction in low-grip conditions.

Construction of the Ecopia H/L 422 Plus features Bridgestone's environmentally-conscious, Ecopia technology, with a focus on sustainability through the reduced use of raw materials, low rolling resistance, long tire life and a reduction in vehicles' carbon dioxide emissions. The internal construction includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon on top of a polyester casing.

Customer feedback data reveals strong performance in comfort with smooth ride quality and low noise levels scoring 7-10. Treadwear receives praise for durability (many 9-10 ratings), though some report uneven wear patterns. Winter traction shows mixed results, with snow/ice scores often 3-5 raising concerns for severe conditions. Wet traction earns consistent 8-10 ratings for reliable grip and hydroplaning resistance. Dry traction stands out as exceptional, with near-perfect scores (9-10) for stability and responsiveness. Ideal for drivers prioritizing year-round comfort and dry/wet performance, but winter capabilities may require caution in harsh climates.

So far I am very impressed with these tires. We have been getting a lot of rain and these tires just shrug it off. No signs of hydroplaning and corning pretty much seems the same as dry corning so far. Tires are very quiet and do a good job of muting even noisy roads. Extremely smooth at all speeds. Have not gotten a chance to use them in the snow. Will update the review when the time comes. These tires also seem to live up to the "ecopia" name. MPG has not decreased vs the worn out tires. Which is impressive.

...I am pleased to say I am satisfied with the tire's performance in dry and wet conditions. The car handles very well...

This is an update to the tire review I submitted in October 2023. At that time, I had put on 5,000 miles (8,000 km) after purchasing them as (almost new) runoffs from a BMV SUV.

I have driven 21,200 miles (approximately 34,000 km) since I purchased them 12 months ago. I am pleased to say I am satisfied with the tire's performance in dry and wet conditions. The car handles very well. The tread wear is also good, with 8/32 remaining, per the latest Mazda dealership service report. Being a V-rated tire, I don't drive them in winter; neither did I with the OEM Dunlop SP5000. They both don't handle well in snow or ice. The tires have become slightly noisier, but not enough to bother me. Considering I saved almost C$1,000 by buying them as runoffs, I would purchase them again at the same price. They should be ok, I think, for another two years or 30,000 miles, about the same mileage I got from the Dunlops.

...Great in the snow, excellent wet traction, good in the corners...

Honda Element use, much better than the oem supplied tires. Lasted almost double the mileage that OEM did. Great in the snow, excellent wet traction, good in the corners. No complaints. I drove in the mountains and in the wine country and they were totally predictable. Compared to the next set of tires I bought: Michelin Premier Michelin’s had better traction all around and were better handling, but not by much. They only lasted as long as my OEM. So, by comparison the ecopias are a better bang for the buck. My third set I am on now are the Michelin LTX Defender because of the rave reviews. Handling on those is nowhere near as good as the Ecopia or Premier. They have really good traction as well and supposedly last much longer than the Premier. As for the LTX I have no complaints whatsoever besides handing.

Purchased these tires as runoffs from a BMW SUV to replace the OEM Dunlop SP 5000 on my 2015 Mazda 6 GT, and they had only been driven a few hundred km. I've put on 8,000 km (5,000 miles) and I am pleased with the tires' performance on both highway and city roads in all road conditions - wet and dry. Steering response and handling are as good as the Dunlops. I find the tires to be much less noisy than the Dunlop and I would consider purchasing them again provided I get around 60,000 kms over the coming 3-4 years. I have a set of dedicated winter tires that have not yet been mounted. Snow is expected this week, so let's see how they handle in whatever snow we get in the coming 48 hours. However I've no plans to use them in winter as I won't feel safe. The SP 5000 were not good in snow.

With scheduled tire rotations, I got 53000 miles on these tires when I was told within 3000 miles, I should look at replacing them due to current wear. Great tires with outstanding performance through all seasons. Will be buying them again for my 2nd set on my 2019 Equinox.

These tires have the best tread wear of any tire I’ve ever owned. They have 65000 miles on them now. I’m probably going with these tires again. The handle great, very sporty feel. I’ve never once hydroplaned or slid on wet roads. They go great in the snow. I recommend these to anyone.

These are the OEM tires on our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and have held up phenomenally. Road noise has always been quiet, performance great, and tread is still in tact after 6 years and 46,000 miles. Reading these reviews is making us excited for our next tire which rates much higher than this model. Only looking at new tires due to their age more than the mileage.

I get a lot of snow where I live, I bought my vehicle last March, so I did not drive much in snow. After we got our first snow I knew that these tires had to go. I almost went off the road twice and slid past a couple intersections. I got stuck leaving parking lot at a diner and had to get pulled out. I am a mailman, I drive in snow all the time. With only 5000 miles on these tires, I bought a set of Blizzak tires and replaced these. I don't know why Toyota puts a tire like this on a vehicle. There not all season tires, there every season but winter.

...They have zero traction in the snow which makes the AWD feature on my Equinox useless...

This is one of the worst tires I’ve owned. They came OEM on my 2020 Equinox LT AWD and they are terrible. They have zero traction in the snow which makes the AWD feature on my Equinox useless. They are VERY noisy, even when new, and have very little traction on wet roads. They sell a lot of Equinoxes with this crap tire. It’s too bad they don’t spec a better tire as it would make the vehicle so much better. I have to mention that these tires hydroplane in the slightest amount of water on the road which makes them very unsafe.
