The Potenza RE050A RFT (Run-Flat Tire) is Bridgestone's Max Performance Summer run-flat tire developed exclusively for specific BMW, Ferrari, Mazda and MINI vehicles. The Potenza RE050A RFT is designed to provide temporary extended mobility for a distance of 50 miles at up to 50 mph even after a puncture has allowed complete air pressure loss. The Potenza RE050A RFT was developed to provide good traction along with responsive and predictable dry and wet road handling. It is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
The Potenza RE050A RFT features a high-grip tread compound molded into an asymmetric tread design. Stable outboard shoulder elements, intermediate tread blocks and a continuous center rib provide responsive handling, high-speed stability and traction on dry roads, while circumferential and lateral tread grooves pump water out from under the tire's footprint to minimize hydroplaning and aid wet traction. A continuous rib adjacent to the inboard shoulder promotes even wear and resists inside wear generated by suspensions that specify negative camber alignment settings.
The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spiral-wrapped nylon to stabilize the tread area and enhance handling, high-speed capability and ride quality. The structure of the Potenza RE050A RFT also features Bridgestone Side Support Run-Flat technology reinforced sidewalls to support the vehicle after a puncture causes a loss of air pressure.
Install Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT tires in sets of four only.
Due to the traction and handling capabilities of the Potenza RE050A RFT, Bridgestone recommends Potenza RE050A RFT tires be used in sets of four to provide the best handling characteristics and tire performance. Potenza RE050A RFT tires may NOT be mixed with other tire models, such as the Potenza RE050A I RFT or Potenza RE050A II RFT.
Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required. To confirm what your vehicle needs, check our Original Equipment tire listing for your year, make and model or see your vehicle owner's manual.

...They are also great in the wet. From full tread to 4/32nds, I never felt uneasy about their wet handling in Northwest downpours. At the limit (and that's really pushing) they have a progressive breakaway, and never felt edgy or twitchy...
I really love these tires, and I want to give the Pirelli P-ZERO PZ4 Runflats an honest review. I had a staggered set on my BMW X3 M40i for just shy of 20,000 miles, and they hadn't yet reached the wear bars - 4/32nds remaining. They were excellent. Since my staggered set can't be rotated front-to-rear, I expected one axle to wear faster, and instead, the wear was even and consistent all around. I've done some racing in the past and have a lot of seat time on a wide range of tires and compounds. These Pirelli's are superb in the dry with great steering response, grip and handling. They are also great in the wet. From full tread to 4/32nds, I never felt uneasy about their wet handling in Northwest downpours. At the limit (and that's really pushing) they have a progressive breakaway, and never felt edgy or twitchy. But equally impressive was the ride quality. Runflats are stiff - that's the reality. But I tried a set of Michelin Latitude 3 runflats back-to-back and there was no comparison. The ride quality on the Pirelli's is remarkable for a runflat. They are firm, but sport tire appropriate, with good compliance over bumps and seams. The Michelins felt like solid rubber, and actually made my interior panels rattle. They also felt heavy compared to the P-ZEROs. I felt like the car was working to get them rolling. I was super disappointed. I immediately went back to the P-ZEROs. Noise level is sport-tire moderate, and I had no quality problems with my P-ZERO set. I hit some really crappy pot holes that I thought would destroy a 40-series tire for sure - no issues. With so few options in this size/fitment, I'm really glad there's an option THIS good. I'm sold.

...The tires marry the car to the road. The grip feels like the car is glued to the road. They bite in the turns and don't let go...
These tires replaced a set of Sumitomos. What a world of difference! The tires marry the car to the road. The grip feels like the car is glued to the road. They bite in the turns and don’t let go. There is no sense of slip on the gravel or any grit on the road. Very nice set of shoes for this beast!

...The P-Zero made a huge difference... the road performance is superb. My beemer feels better than new; the car steering feels sharper...
The P-Zero PZ4 are a great replacement tires from the OEM Goodyears. The P-Zero made a huge difference; the ride quality is softer but proper, the road noise is less, however, the road performance is superb. My beemer feels better than new; the car steering feels sharper. the car drives as firm in rain as dry pavement. I put about 4,000 plus miles on the tires and they still look new. the P-Zero deliver on their promise of performance and quality. I am a very happy customer.

at first they were squishy not teeth shattering hard (like other run flats)... the run flat aspect is great !!...im not sure they are true RF tires !!...they feel like air (going over bumps)...
at first they were "squishy" not teeth shattering hard (like other run flats). the grip was low at moderate speeds. then after about 500 miles they stiffened up, traction was/is great !! wet weather/rain (florida showers) i laugh at !! 65-70 through standing water on the highway. folks behind me hate it-the rooster tails are HUGE over 45 mph. the comfort level is great......he car does push a bit in the corners (well exceeding the "speed limit") thats to be expected though. he run flat aspect is great !!...im not sure they are true RF tires !!...they feel like air (going over bumps). the tread wear is kinda high....but cmon man !! youre buyng a spot tire, onna fast car......you want 20K miles, buy a 500 rated unit. id buy these again, but i wanna try the pilots sprot s (whatever it is) ....the hype...if its real or just BS. good luck, drive hard, have fun !!

...They are as quiet and ride as well as the OEM tires and provide much better traction...
I have used this tire on my M3, M5, Hellcat and Tesla S. They are as as quiet and ride as well as the OEM tires and provide much better traction. I cannot compare treadware with OEM as I removed the OEM as soon as the vehicles were delivered. With alignment and tire rotation every 6 ,000 miles they last about 30,000 miles. They have to handle frequent heavy acceleration and heavy cornering at the tires limits. They have predictable gradual breakaway limits and emit some noise prior to break away. There are no surprises. They are also reasonably priced. I enjoy driving in mountain areas with no cell phone service. The run flats have saved me multiple times from having to walk home. On one occasion a road hazard damaged the side wall of two tires and I was able to keep driving for a few hundred miles until I received the replacements from tire rack several days later.

...These are BMW spec as well but have much greater tread wear and are much quieter, which is a big thing for run-flats...
This is my second set of these tires. I bought the first set to replace the original Michelin Run-flats that came as original equipment. These are BMW spec as well but have much greater tread wear and are much quieter, which is a big thing for run-flats. I great choice for owners of BMW X4M cars.
