Riken Raptor ZR

The Raptor ZR A/S is RIKEN's Ultra High Performance All-Season tire developed for the drivers of sporty coupes and sport sedans looking to combine responsive steering and performance-focused handling with capability in inclement weather, even in very light snow.

The Raptor ZR A/S molds an all-season compound into an aggressive, directional tread design focused on providing traction in dry and wet conditions. The arrow-shaped pattern utilizes wide lateral grooves for efficient water evacuation and improved hydroplaning resistance. The tire sidewalls feature a rigid compound to help improve handling and steering response, while a built-in rim protector helps prevent damage to wheels.

The tire's internal construction consists of a two-ply polyester casing supporting two wide, steel belts. A two-ply nylon reinforcement aids handling and provides high-speed durability.

Good tire for all purpose use excellent traction in both wet and dry...

Good tire for all purpose use excellent traction in both wet and dry; as you approach the limits sidewalk flexibility becomes noticeable; the tires communicate changes in traction well. Not a track or autocross dedicated tire but if you’re driving it 7/10 most of the time with occasional bursts to 8.5/10 these are your tires. Can’t be beaten in value for dollar.

To me it is the best tire out there for wet and dry traction without spending big money. I just wish the tread width was wider for track and mountain riding. I also keep a spare set mounted for the Polaris Slingshot. I use the best set (tread wear) for the vacation/mountain riding

...They are good in snow especially up to 4 inches...

I’ve been using Ripken Raptors for over 10 years now. I love the price. They are good in snow especially up to 4 inches. Rain is a little different and at times I have had them slip at red lights when stopping or accelerating. Overall, this tire is a great buy for me!

...Initially was going to use them for summer tires but they performed well enough for me in the snow...

I went with these tires for my golf r, mostly because of the affordability, but they actually surprised me how good they were. Initially was going to use them for summer tires but they performed well enough for me in the snow. I went with 235/40 18 instead of the recommended 225/40 18 to have more sidewall for spirited cornering on back roads and they have exceeded my expectations (for a wannabe rally driver). Very pleased with this purchase.

Tires are great. They look good, get very "grippy" when warmed from driving. Did several long road trips for college with them, never overheated. Would absolutely buy them again.

...They handle well on dry pavement...

I haven’t driven far enough on them to see how they are wearing. They handle well on dry pavement and I typically don’t use the car if it looks like rain.
Tire Rack was great to work with. They made the purchase simple and easy. I would buy from them again.

...I buy them for performance grip in the dry for a dirt cheap price... These are great handling tires with solid feedback, do not squall that bad when really pushed and wear reasonably well for being driven hard all the time...

I've had a few sets of these tires on Porsches and BMWs. I buy them for performance grip in the dry for a dirt cheap price. I go through a lot of tires each year with multiple performance street cars and race cars so I'm not dropping $2000 for a set of tires every time.

These are great handling tires with solid feedback, do not squall that bad when really pushed and wear reasonably well for being driven hard all the time. I drive my cars pretty hard.

They will not compete with top of the line tires but I'm not competing on these, so why burn another $1,000 on a set? Buy these and smile when you can afford those performance break pads, new intake or a set of headers :)

...I didn't buy them for long treadwear though they seem to be doing just fine.

Work great on my little c30 hatch. I drive mostly on the twisty Oregon coast roads and through the coast mountain range. I've also done a 1500 mile trip mostly on freeway. I'm quite happy with these tires wet and dry grip. I didn't buy them for long treadwear though they seem to be doing just fine.
