The AVID Ascend GT is Yokohama's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for drivers of sedans, coupes, crossovers and minivans who want a refined ride and noise comfort combined with long life and confident all-season traction. The AVID Ascend GT is designed to deliver grip in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even light snow.
Yokohama BluEarth branding is used to identify an ecologically friendly series of tires that are designed to deliver environmentally, human and socially friendly solutions for drivers and their vehicles. AVID Ascend GT tires branded with the BluEarth symbol are identified on their Sizes and Specs pages.
The asymmetric pattern of the AVID Ascend GT helps optimize grip in all weather conditions, and the tread profile is specifically engineered to create a stable contact patch for improved traction and wear. The tread pitch variation and Outside Adaptive Shoulder Blocks are designed with a focus on noise attenuation for a quiet driving experience. Four deep, circumferential grooves utilize asymmetric widths to aid standing water evacuation through the footprint, while the inside shoulder features open notches to allow water to pass through. Yokohama's TriBLEND Compound Technology all-season compound utilizes a low-Tg polymer and high silica content for grip in inclement weather, and the Triple 3-D Sipes and notched tread blocks create the biting edges needed for light snow traction.
Internally, a polyester casing aids ride comfort and supports two wide, steel belts. A full nylon cover works with the square profile shape to help resist deflection under cornering loads for more controlled, predictable handling in dry and wet conditions while also providing high-speed capability.

...These are fantastic in the wet, and that was my primary consideration... But mainly, I love the wet traction and performance in the rain! Best I've ever found in an all-season tire...
My quest to find a great wet weather all-season tire is done! These are fantastic in the wet, and that was my primary consideration. But they are also very good in the dry, with a very comfortable ride, and only moderate noise, primarily at highway speeds, but as good or better than most at lower speeds - very quiet (which is usually typical for a new set of tires anyway.) So far, I really like these tires, the price is very reasonable for this level of quality, they were delivered the next day, and a rebate was a nice bonus. But mainly, I love the wet traction and performance in the rain! Best I've ever found in an all-season tire. I would definitely buy again.

...Wet traction is superb, dry excellent as well. Confidence tires, simply. I'm not a tire engineer, but it's cool to look closely at the tread design - clearly made for rapid water evacuation while maintaining excellent road contact.
Do read Tire Racks Test Track reviews, folks, they were spot on this tire, I suspect they are on most. The Yokohomas are nearly a bargain at the price. Wet traction is superb, dry excellent as well. Confidence tires, simply. I'm not a tire engineer, but it's cool to look closely at the tread design - clearly made for rapid water evacuation while maintaining excellent road contact. I didn't wish to pay substantially more for Michelins, nor downgrade to something of lower quality. Only negative is that ride is a bit too firm for my tastes - so I just inflate at one or two PSI lower.
Drive safe and happy, everyone, especially now !

I just went through the 1st snow storm and they had excellent grip and control...
I am very impressed with this tire in the rain and the snow. I've pushed this tire in the rain and the hold is great. I just went through the 1st snow storm and they had excellent grip and control. On dry pavement, there is a little noise at highway speeds but nothing offensive. I am very happy with this tire and highly recommend it.

...I can not speak for snow performance yet but considering their excellent performance on wet roads I would expect them to do fine on the few light snows we get in our area...
After reading many reviews I picked these tires based on handling which was important to me. Also, wet traction was a very high priority as our previous Firestone's were very poor in this regard. On a wet road it was very common for the Firestone 741's to lose traction on take off. I have never been able to make these Yokohama tires slip on a wet road take off no matter how hard I have tried. The car handles very well with these tires and has a very good feel to the steering. They are in all regards superior to the 741's that came on the vehicle when new. Some have complained of excessive noise from these tires. I have not experienced this at all. Of course these are on a Honda Fit which is not a super quiet car to begin with so its not an issue for me at all. My priories were wet traction and general handling and this tire shines in both. I can not speak for snow performance yet but considering their excellent performance on wet roads I would expect them to do fine on the few light snows we get in our area. Considering handling, traction and "feel" my little Fit drives like a sports car with these tires. Over all I am very well pleased with the tires and will likely put them on my Acura RDX when it needs new tires.

...very good handling in dry and wet...
On center steering feel is vague. Less feedback than some other GT tires. Excellent noise, comfort and very good handling in dry and wet. Acceptable snow performance. A Good choice for typical Honda road noise.

...They provide great wet and dry traction, they handle well, and are very quiet and comfortable...
I have had these tires on my vehicle for about sixty days now and I have to say that they have totally exceeded my expectations! I have driven them in all weather conditions with the exception of snow and so far, I am totally impressed and pleased with these tires! They provide great wet and dry traction, they handle well, and are very quiet and comfortable. I can highly recommend these to anyone looking for a strong performer in the Grand Touring All-Season category as the Yokohama Ascend GT is worthy of serious consideration!

...I beat the -------- out of these tires, going like 60-70 around tight curves, accelerating quickly, stopping kind of hard in some instances etc and in dry/warm environments this tire really is a true blue...
For a tire in my particular situation - there aren't just a ton of good options for my 2015 Honda Fit - this, I have found to be the best of the best. I beat the -------- out of these tires, going like 60-70 around tight curves, accelerating quickly, stopping kind of hard in some instances etc and in dry/warm environments this tire really is a true blue.
So far as winter driving is concerned, I have truly driven through all different types of winter weather - rainy/icy, cold/blowing/dry, light snow, heavy snow and I trust these tires in those conditions as well. Obviously it's a Honda Fit - there will never really be a snowy day that I don't kind of dread driving in, in that car. However, out of all the different kind of tires I've driven in three different Fits, these are still the best. (*out of approximately 4-5 different tires).
In no category do these tires, I think, really earn a perfect 10 - but even so, I still think that out of the field of options for my particular car they still deserve a top rating and while there are a few that are actually a lot more expensive, they also get that expensive by way of having features that are totally inappropriate for the car e.g. V speed rating. Can I top out over the H rating? I guess - I would sincerely not recommend that in a Honda Fit to be honest.
I have some sort of Falken on there now for 2 of the tires after a sidewall hole left me stranded and I had no choices available except that tire. That was honestly one of the worst days of ownership I've had on this current vehicle. Every time I rotate them, I'm reminded - I have 2 good tires and 2 mid tires on my car. While normally fairly frugal, I really cannot wait until the day I get to replace all 4 with brand new set of these instead. Highly recommend (For a Honda Fit).

Really great all around tiring leaning towards performance. Was pleasantly surprised by just how comfortable they ride, and their responsiveness and traction in a lot of different weather and road conditions (I live in PA, we get it all).

...The treadwear is incredible... Putting them on at 30k i right now have 149k on them. They still have some life but im buying them now again because i dont want to push it more then the insane amount i have on them now...
A fantastic tire all around. The treadwear is incredible. I had them on my last car but put new ones anyway because i gave my daughter my car. For my car. when the garbage tires the dealership gives you were useless after 30k , I bought them for my car a Camry SE . Putting them on at the 30k i right now have 149k on them. They still have some life but im buying them now again because i dont want to push it more then the insane amount i have on them now. Of course I feel a differance now but for at least 80k they ride as smooth as can be, extremly quiet and handle all very good. i wouldnt have put them on my daughters car if i didnt fully trust them. Highly recommend them.

...I rotate every 5K - 7K and they are wearing very well. Still plenty of good tread left...
Bought these for my work car (Ford Fusion). At the time I had a highway/rural commute of almost 100 miles a day. I absolutely love these tires. One complaint I had with my previous set was hydroplaning. I live in an area that has lots of stone truck traffic that causes "Troughs" in the highway where rain water puddles. These tires handle it with no problems. They also handle light to moderate snow as well as ice very well. Very quiet and nice riding. I rotate every 5K - 7K and they are wearing very well. Still plenty of good tread left. My wife is wanting new tires for her 2018 Ford Explorer and I'm considering a set for it.

...At 60,000, it's like a new car ride under all conditions...
After suffering through a year of misery driving on expensive runflats that the previous owner bought, I FINALLY tossed them and it's like a brand new wagon with these normal tires. At 60,000, it's like a new car ride under all conditions. Get rid of your runflats, buy the deluxe AAA membership for insurance and enjoy your BMW again. Oh and by the way, the silly tire pressure monitoring system cost me $700 for replacement of all 4 of the 10 yr old sensors. Thanks US Gov for another nanny-state regulation.
