I cracked two OEM wheels on my for 2004 Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor with Sport Package (black 4-door sedan). I finally decided to get four OZ Superturismo GT 17x8 wheels (color: matte grey – a really nice light grey that looks great on a black sedan). My OEM wheels were staggered (17x7.5 front, 17x8.5 rear). To me the OZ Superturismo GT was the best looking 17" wheel that would fit my front brakes since I have a sport package with bigger brakes. The OZ Superturismo GT wheel has a rounded end of the lip on the inside flange (ie, facing the engine) to provide more metal thickness and circumferential area where the wheel is the weakest (that was exactly where my aluminum Mercedes-Benz OEM wheels cracked). Superturismo GT is a popular wheel used on 90% of the World Rally Championship competition vehicles (according to OZ Racing web-site). I was thinking Rally driving gets the most abuse from the real-life streets and roads conditions (not like F1 or Nascar where there are no potholes on the track at all).
The offset was the same as OEM. I cannot notice any difference in wheels sticking out or in relative to the fenders compared to my OEM wheels. Also, OZ Superturismo GT in matte grey looks really good, much better than I envisioned it by looking at online cars photos. I plan to post several photos taken in correct lighting conditions (matte grey does not have a bright silvery look like some photos online made it appear). Hopefully TireRack will accept all of my photos since I took several angles and close-ups.
The installation was very easy. The fitment was perfect. TireRack included OZ’s aluminum centering rings so no wobbling on the road whatsoever. The wheels are stable in turns. They are the same weight as my OEM wheels and I did not notice any difference while accelerating or breaking. I usually do not write reviews but I hope people will find this review helpful since it can cost a lot of money to buy four new OZ Superturismo GT wheels.
