The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 is Goodyear's Max Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of high performance sports cars, coupes and sedans. In addition to being designed to deliver improved handling and steering response, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 features Goodyear ActiveBraking Technology to enhance stopping performance on dry and wet roads. However, like all summer tires, it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Goodyear's warranty states: "Ultra high-performance summer tires are not recommended for winter use, and tread or shoulder cracking on those tires resulting from winter use will not be covered under our warranty."

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's tread compound combines Goodyear race traction resins for dry grip, high surface silica for wet traction and high molecular weight polymers to optimize tread stiffness. This compound is molded into an asymmetric tread design with a wide, solid outboard shoulder to increase cornering traction and continuous notched inboard ribs to improve high speed stability. Goodyear's ActiveBraking Technology 3-dimensional tread element designs increase surface contact with the road to reduce stopping distances during heavy braking, while its wide circumferential grooves disperse water from the tire footprint.

The internal structure of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 includes twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide cord to enhance tread stability and high-speed capability. Goodyear's lightweight, racing-derived construction lowers unsprung mass to increase performance while their crossed plies casing improves steering precision, handling and stopping power.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 Reviews

Customer ratings showcase the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 as a standout in its Max Performance Summer category, with exceptional dry traction (frequent 9-10 scores) and strong wet grip (mostly 8-10), aligning perfectly with its intended use. Drivers highlight precise steering and confident cornering, emphasizing its sporty handling. Comfort receives consistent praise for a smooth, quiet ride despite its performance focus. Treadwear ratings are generally positive (many 8-10 scores), though a few note reduced longevity under aggressive driving. While a small number report lower durability in high-stress scenarios, most users express high satisfaction, particularly praising its balanced blend of summer-focused performance and daily-driver refinement.

...It rains a lot where I live and wet traction is better than I thought...

These are a pretty decent set of tires. It rains a lot where I live and wet traction is better than I thought. Since our winters are mild, I run these year round. During the colder months these tires are hard as a brick until fully warmed up and create a bit of NVH. The grip and confidence I have in these tires offset any NVH in my option. I would definitely purchase these tires again.

...They have very solid wet performance with nearly no slippage.

OEM on my '18 Ford Focus ST; These tires take a bit of warming up before grip is available, but when warm, the grip is great. They're a tad noisy but are a comfortable ride for the type of car. They have very solid wet performance with nearly no slippage.

...Finally got some rain recently in SoCal. The wet traction on these tires puts the Michelins to shame... there is just no other way to put it...

Well, this might be the my new favorite tire for ISF.
I choose 245/35/19 front and 275/30/19 rear set.
Besides the outstanding price point, I must say I am very delighted with these tires.

1) Outstanding grip, it is much harder to let the car slide sideways than before. Noticeably less wheel spin on hard launches. It is almost weird to me.

2) No change in the steering feel vs. Michelins PSS. Great comfort level on these right from the start, it took me little while to get comfortable with the new set on PSSs before. Both tires great comfort wise.

3) Finally got some rain recently in SoCal. The wet traction on these tires puts the Michelins to shame...... there is just no other way to put it. (Not the big one for me, because it rains here 8x a year, but somewhere else this might be important.)

4) These tires are noticeably wider then the PSSs, the curb-rash protector on these tires is second to none. Anyone who has his girlfriend or wife driving their ISF will really appreciate this!!

By the way, these tires run noticeably wider than other tires in the same size!!

...The handling in both dry and wet weather is outstanding. The BMWer steers and brakes better with the F1 set...

I upgraded my old 1998 BMW 328 to larger 225 45 17 tires & wheels. I have now driven the Goodyear Eagle F1s about 1300 miles. Very glad that I selected these tires. The handling in both dry and wet weather is outstanding. The BMWer steers and brakes better with the F1 set. They are also quiet. Given the 300 tread wear rating I do not expect super long tire life. I mostly drive this car on weekends so the performance vs. long life trade-off is acceptable. Highly recommended.
Note: Goodyear states that the F1 is only for summer/warm weather use. I have snow tires on another set of wheels for Maryland winters.

...Every time I drive the G meter shows at least 1.2 g's with max of 1.31. The traction is excellent front and back to 5000 miles, then tire performance drops of dramatically...

I am on third set. Each lasts approximately 9000 miles, very aggressive open road driving in the extremely balanced and well behaved Cayman GTS. Every time I drive the G meter shows at least 1.2 g's with max of 1.31. The roads I drive very from smooth to rough, all very remote with corners from tight to medium mostly. The traction is excellent front and back to 5000 miles, then tire performance drops of dramatically. The tires are predictable however even once the performance drops off. Tire pressures make a huge difference and would keep as low as possible will still maintaining top speed rating. I would say the tires sweet spot is 60 to 85 degrees in the sun. Very balanced at all speeds, never a tracking problem. Probably my last set due to the Performance degration at only 5k. Most of the Performance is due to the car as it is a complete no brainer to drive especially compared to a 930 turbo. Sand, different pavement due to a bridge, or shaded wet areas, typically the car slides very balanced and neutral on all four corners of the car, and the cars electronics instantly readjust, so hard to say how much is car and how much is tire.

...They are very comfortable riding, even on fairly bad city streets...We have a ton of those...

When I bought the car this spring, I was disappointed that it did not come with Michelin 4S. Many of these do. From reviews, I think that's the tire to have for a car like this.

However, these aren't nearly the disappointment I'd anticipated. They are very comfortable riding, even on fairly bad city streets...We have a ton of those. They corner well although they don't have the same directness I've felt with Michelins on my old Cayman S.

Caymans are generally pretty easy on tires. Tires are big for a 3000 lb car and the weight is really perfectly balanced across the fronts and rears.

I had my first track weekend a few weeks ago and wanted to do a review while things were fresh in my head.

With no mods and using these stock N0 tires at a track that is notorious for eating them up (Putnam Park, IN), I got VERY good tire wear. Not only that, but the car was keeping a very good pace. I was dicing with A and Instructor cars from Windy City BMW club. Virtually the whole field was on R tires. The first few laps, I would lose everyone...until their R tires started getting up to temp and mine started also getting hot. By lap 3, the best of them were getting pointed by. By the end of the sessions, almost all of them passed me.

I expected the tires to be shreaded to a point where I'd be limping home. Nope. I'm driving on the same tires on weekends and doing errands. They look fine, don't have bad tread noise or anything.

I will say...1. These tires really howl when I get my cornering right. They make that "just before the accident" sort of sound. It's useful to determine under/oversteer. 2. Putnam was resurfaced this year. The smoother track may have helped longevity. 3. I already had 6K miles on the tires before they saw any track time. I think this also helps longevity...lower tread depth and molecular chains are longer..like having your R tires heat-cycled?

Anyway, good, comfy summer tires for street use!
