Yokohama Reviews
Drivers find the Yokohama ADVAN A048 delivers exceptional dry traction, with strong praise for its track-ready grip, precise steering response, and predictable handling during autocross, HPDE events, and timed laps. Wet performance receives mixed feedback-some note decent hydroplaning resistance in light rain, but most caution against pushing limits in standing water. Treadwear concerns dominate, with users reporting rapid wear (4-8 track days or 5,000-10,000 street miles) and grip degradation after heat cycles, though this is expected for R-compound tires. While praised for track-focused durability and dual-duty capability, its stiff sidewalls and noise make it less ideal for pure street use.

...The tire is aawsome tire for sport/race ride on dry conditions... Grip during acceleration/cornering on dry is awsome. Precision steering seems to be the best i ever had...
I just bought these tires , and the first impression is: The tire is aawsome tire for sport/race ride on dry conditions . Here on Brazil , streets tarmac are not very stable on irregularites ,tires seems to be a litte noisy , but this is aceptable on race tires . Grip during acceleration/cornering on dry is awsome. Precision steering seems to be the best i ever had. The car is front Wheel drive ,turbocharged with 300hp class. Overall handling has been improved besides my old tires ( Toyo´s T1 R ) on dry .
On wet , i drive real smooth ,resistance on hydroplaning is reduced by thread design . If you want to race on dry conditions , with all performance avaliable ,these are the best set avaliable. Hope it last more than people talks arround here.

A huge improvement over the All-Season I have been auto-crossing on, which is to be expected. The turn in and steering response you get from these is amazing. I had a huge smile on my face during my first run because of the massive amount of grip I had at my disposal. No more do I have to wait for the car to react to any of my inputs. If you are thinking of making the switch from all-seasons/summer tires to R-Comps, do it, you won't regret it.
If you don't plan on tracking/auto-crossing these tires, it is a waste of money. You have to fight the steering wheel to go in a straight line because these pull on every pothole and pavement seam you drive over, there is a pronounced tire hum, and the incredibly stiff sidewalls don't bode well for the ride quality or your wheels. Save the money and get some all-seasons/summer tires instead.

...The cornering traction was simply unbelievable. Braking distance greatly reduced...
I bought the AO48s for track use only, and they exceeded my expectations on the track in every way. The steering responsiveness was far better then any other tire Ive used. The cornering traction was simply unbelievable. Braking distance greatly reduced.
These tires are not for highway use. They are very, very loud at all speeds. I would recommend a harder compound for any extended lapping. I noted significant wear in four 25 minute sessions on the track. For autocross use they are ideal, and I would highly recommend them.

Customers report mediocre wet traction, with some noting a tendency to hydroplane in standing water and sliding around during wet autocross conditions. While a few found them acceptable in light rain, others were unimpressed by unpredictable grip and reduced hydroplaning resistance, particularly as tread depth decreased. Scores in this category reflect mixed results, with concerns over wet performance consistency.

...My experiences in the rain/cold with these havent been so great yet... 40-46 PSI in the cold and wet during autoX and I still slide around a bit...
This is my first time with R comps so I am still learning.
These are AWESOME when they warm up in the dry!!!!!
My experiences in the rain/cold with these havent been so great yet.
Most likely because I havent set them to the correct pressure.
I run about 32-38 PSI for DE/track events and that worked just fine.
40-46 PSI in the cold and wet during autoX and I still slide around a bit.
I am still quite pleased overall and I would most def. buy these again for my DE events!
AutoX wise, I cant really say yet because I am still learning which PSI setting works best for them.
GL with your purchase!

...It absolutely needs some heat in it before you can really lean on it; a cold A048 is a slippery A048...
The A048 is better suited to light-duty track use than aggressive street. It absolutely needs some heat in it before you can really lean on it; a cold A048 is a slippery A048. On the street, it tramlines like a Hoosier with similarly squishy steering response, however on the track the tire comes into focus and works quite nicely. Since this tire is as expensive as a Hoosier, I'm not sure why you'd buy this as a track tire. Since this tire has rather crappy street manners I'm not sure why you'd buy this as a street tire. It occupies a narrow market space for enthusiasts that want to drive to their HPDE and not change tires but still have as much grip as possible.

Customers report rapid wear and disappointed in tread life, with many noting the A048s wore quickly during track sessions and autocross use. Several reviews mention premature wear after just 4-8 track days, requiring early replacement despite the tire’s track focus. While some expected shorter lifespan, others cited less than expected mileage even for competition-oriented use, with grip dropping off significantly after heat cycles.
