Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 

I had the Bridgestone Potenzas before and they were extremely loud. The Michelins in my opinion are far superior, quiet and dont even budge in wet conditions. If you cant afford this tire then sell the car your driving that demands this level of performance.

I have a 330i that I have spent much time and money converting with the help of Dinan and Alpina of Germany to a realy hot little E46. It is as close to a B3 3.3 as one could get since they are not offered in the north american market. It has stage 3 software and all the usual upgrades intake, throttle body, and exhaust. Alpina like bored over with new rear end gearing. After having these tires for a while I have to say that these have to be the best in the max performance class. I have had the re050 and the original pilot and these edge all others that I have driven. Keep in mind I have driven friends cars with other performance tires and the only other one that has better wet traction is the goodyear. The benifit I have with these that helps is that I can rotate side to side with these ps2 where others are dedicated to one position. I have a staggered front and rear of course, and generally I have to discard my tires prematurely, for irregular tire wear, usually the center of the rears and the outside edge of the fronts. Redirecting the ps2s turns the wear pattern around and makes the tires last longer. The cost is a little more but the benefits are worth it. If price concerned me I wouldnt have a BMW and would have coopers for rubber. Cooper is a good tire and I could save not $50-100 but like $250. That would be some savings. I get a kick about reading people saying the dont want to spend extra money for michelin and they drive a M3, CLK 320 or an SL 500. Not to knock the Bridgestone, I may try the new pole position on my lexus the next set, however the bridgestones I have now are a little too soft for my taste. The tire wear is a little harsher than the michelins and they are harder to balance on a road force machine. I had my rims checked for irregularities and they were fine. Listen all max tires are good some are just better than others in some areas. The PS2 just gives an owner options on how they want to use them, where most others dont.

Great wet handling. Very good dry handling, except that braking performance decreased after switch from the previous Pilot Sports. Smooth transition at breakaway with easy recovery.Very predictable, but feels greasy as it nears its limits. Poor treadlife with uneven wear even with balanced chassis. Still, a very good tire if a bit overpriced compared w/ the competition. Main strength is superb wet handling.

I have these tires on my highly modified 330Ci. This car has never been driven in the rain, hence the "N/A" ratings on wet performance. This car is often driven in a spirited fashion. Dry traction is outstanding, especially after the tires have some heat in them. These tires are silent, even when slip angles are high (which is a nice stealth attribute). Considering how the car is driven I'm impressed with their tread wear. I also think the PS2's lightweight is a major benefit. Why put heavy tires on an expensive, lightweight set of wheels?!



I must mention I also have these tires on my wife's 2006 Mercedes C230 Sport Sedan. Performance-wise, all my comments remain unchanged. There is a big however - the MB absolutely kills the rear tires in about 10,000 miles. I've had two sets of PS2's on the MB and both sets of rears wore out very quickly. The car was bought new and has been aligned twice (both times it was in spec). Also, the tread wear is perfectly even, meaning that the entire tread width wears out evenly with no feathering, etc.



In summary, the PS2s are a fantastic performance tire but tread wear seems to vary wildly depending on the make of car. If money is no object buy PS2s, they're well worth it. If finances are tight I suggest you try something else.

By far, the best tire Ive owned. After many miles on the OEM Conti Sport Contact 2, the Michelin PS2s are excatly what my car needed. Handling in wet and dry conditions, stability, comfort and noise levels were a dramatic improvement over the Continentals. Although pricey, this tire is well worth it and I definitely will be purchasing them again, when the time comes.

I was rather slow in getting my review up for these tires, but since I have the new 335i Coupe on the way I figured Id check out what they came with and was disappointed it was not the PS2s. These are hands down the best handling performance tire I have ever driven on. The dry handling is stellar, but even more suprising is the wet weather traction. There was rarely any instances even at high speeds in the wettest of conditions that I felt the car was out of control. The cornering ability is unparalled, good stopping distance, and boy do these hold the road. My new BMW comews with run flats but i am already looking forward to my first replacement. The treadwear is pretty impressive as well, I cant say exactly hw many miles I have on them because of switching back and forth between my Blizzaks but even if the very litte tread left on the rear tires, the handling has no degraded at all. Definately would recommend and would buy again!

Tires are near-perfect for my purposes: comfortable cruising interspersed among autocross and quick back-country touring. They are on 19x9/10" rims, so they aren't eligible for rotation. I've really abused them, dry-traction-wise, on three different late-model Mustangs including the current GT/CS convertible, a 2009 GT/CS coupe, and the original beneficiary, a 2006 V6 convertible. I've tried other tire/wheel configurations, and it always comes back down to the wonderful ride comfort and cornering power without compromise. Great tires, and if I ever wear them out, I hope there will be new ones for purchase.

I have 245x35x19(f) 275x30x19(r) on AC Schnitzer wheels and they have been absolutely best tire I've ever owned. Amazing dry grip, exceptional ride (even w/19"), and an absolutely consistant performer. Never driven in snow and infrequently in the rain, probably 90% dry weather and 90% hwy & backroads. I have been pleasantly surprised with the wear after reading most of the owners getting 10k mi or less. I have almost 15k mi on them and still have 20% left on the rears and 25% on the fronts. Granted no burn outs and no track time but fairly aggressive hwy and mtn driving in the Smokys. Love them and will buy again. Expensive---yes, top quality---absolutely, performance---unquestionable, and all of this with a great and quiet ride!!!

I have owned Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Tires for over 30,000 miles with city, highway, and Porsche Club racing events. Some club racing like autocross, and putting down a few C-5 Corvettes every other weekend. The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Tires are excellent all around high performance sport tires. The PS2 Pilots will truly last longer than most other YR rated tires including the Potenza S-03 Pole Position which may very have a slight edge on dry traction over the Michelin PS2. But the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 will flat out perform all YR rated tires in the rain, city and highway overall performance. I have never experienced a defective issue with a tire. Granted I go through two rear sets a year, I have 360 plus HP with 101 octane fuel always on board. With a 220 tread ware the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Tires will out last the 180 or less tread ware rating of the fellow competitors. If you want own the road purchase the Pilot Sport Cup tires.

Replaced set of performance Kumhos that had less than 5000 miles w the Michelin Pilot Sports. Couldn't stand the noise and following every groove on the highway. The 911 isn't known for it's quiet highway ride but what a difference the Michelins proved to be. Don't buy anything else for the Porsche. You get what you pay for. The car is absolutely on rails and the dry and wet traction is impressive. The Kumhos were deadly once past 1000 miles of wear in rain. In dry but cool weather it was like riding on tires made of stone. I know summer performance tires are meant to be used in warm weather but 50 degrees is hardly cold. The Pilots are worth every penny and you will enjoy the performance of the car far more..
