The Continental CrossContact LX excels in wet traction, with most customers scoring 9-10. Highlighted for confident grip and hydroplaning resistance, it performs superbly in wet conditions as expected from an all-season touring tire. While a few lower scores exist, the majority report outstanding wet weather performance.

...The tires perform very well in rain and wet conditions, they are very quiet on highways, they have no trouble in stopping or corning grip...
I've only had the tires for about 2k miles, so not really long enough to give a fair analysis. So far I am very satisfied. The tires perform very well in rain and wet conditions, they are very quiet on highways, they have no trouble in stopping or corning grip. The tires run very smooth with no balancing problems as some have reported. They also have a nice appearance with a moderate agressive look from the side. The only negative comment is they initially felt a bit wiggly when making abrupt directional changes from left to right and back. This may be due to their very deep tread depth, which should give great milage in the end, and also due to my previous tires being worn right down to the tread bars making them handle better (stiffer) at least on the dry. I will have to report back as I put a few more miles on them and try them in snow, but so far I am quite happy with my decision over the OEM michelin energy tires.

Most customers report reliable winter traction with scores between 7-10, highlighting confident grip in snow. While a few lower scores exist, the CrossContact LX performs well as an all-season option for light to moderate winter conditions.

This tire has been outstanding in all conditions, both summer and winter. Smooth and quiet on the highway and no problems in any level of snow...
This is a follow up to a very positive previous review I wrote shortly after buying the Cross Contact LX tires last year.
This tire has been excellent for my type driving... mostly around town and on the highway in an area with frequent heavy snowfall (Central New York) in the winter. These tires have been outstanding in all conditions, both summer and winter. Smooth and quiet on the highway and no problems in any level of snow. Of course I do have 4WD, but almost never need to use it.
I have rotated these tires every 5-6K miles and had them rebalanced at 14K. They show no wear after 21K. While I have always been skeptical of Continental tires these have been a pleasant surprise. I have 95K miles on my Tahoe and the first 75K were on noisy Goodyear Wrangler A/Ts that chopped early on.
I highly recommend these tires and would definately buy them again.

...These tires were superb in light and heavy snow with very good snow braking... even good ice traction and breaking. Though I probably should not have driven in some of the conditions I did, but the tires performed none the less...
Purchased these tires as replacement for my Toyota Highlander - which mean a wheel change as well. Great decision!! So much better than Std Toyo or Bridgestones from OEM and much LESS in cost. Used Lexis 18" rims to replace 19" Toyotas. These tires were superb in light and heavy snow with very good snow braking... even good ice traction and breaking. Though I probably should not have driven in some of the conditions I did, but the tires performed none the less. Now at 35,000 miles they are close to need for replacement by measurement but with NO noticable need via performance, about 5/32" tread left. I expected more milage but the performance and price is so good I'll likely purchase another set.

...Up here in Michigan's upper peninsula we drive on ice and snow packed roads most of the winter. These tires do the job great. I always feel secure on the road and can drive without any worries...
I recently bought a used S10-Blazer with a set of old Cooper tires on it that still had tread left. I drove from Eastern U.P. Michigan to Tire-Rack on my way to Chicago to pick them up. The old tires never felt secure on wet payment and traction on light snow was scary. I had to stay behind slower vehicles throughout the entire trip. I noticed the difference immediately once the new tires where mounted. On the way home, I was driving in the left lane passing everyone on the freeway and roads in rain and snow. I felt secure the entire trip with a cruising speed that shorten my return trip by over 2 hours.
Up here in Michigan's upper peninsula we drive on ice and snow packed roads most of the winter. These tires do the job great. I always feel secure on the road and can drive without any worries. I though I was going to have to buy a set of winter tires for the snow season but I see no reason to now.
The tires look great on the vehicle. I particularly like the raised rubber edge around the tire bead area that protects my aluminum rims as well as the white lettering that is well done by Continental.
I did find, however, that the tire is somewhat limited in that when I'm driving in over 3-4 inches of snow, traction suffers as can be expected of an all-season tire. That is the only time I've ever had to put the vehicle in four-wheel drive except for when accelerating up moderate to steep hills.
With over 5,000 miles on these tires and driving in all types of weather conditions, I've yet to notice any tread wear and these tires have exceeded my expectations.

Customers rate the CrossContact LX's dry traction highly, with most scoring 9s and 10s. Strong performance in responsive handling and grip aligns well with its intended all-season use, delivering reliable dry-road confidence. A few lower scores (6-7) suggest occasional variability, but overwhelming positivity highlights its capability.

...After breakin, on a 3000 mile trip, we found the tires responsive, secure, and very capable on tight curves in hilly regions. The comfort and handling are excellent at 36 psi. The tire is more predictable than the Michelin OE tire...
The Cross Contact LX was purchased after a long search for something better than the Michelin MXV4 OE tire. The LX required a thousand or so miles for breakin. After breakin, on a 3000 mile trip, we found the tires responsive, secure, and very capable on tight curves in hilly regions. The comfort and handling are excellent at 36 psi. The tire is much more predictable than the Michelin OE tire. There is never any oversteer. The handling is slightly less crisp at 70 mph than at 50 mph, but much better than the Michelin. There is much more road feel. There is a slight grainy feel to the tire at some speeds on some surfaces, but that is expected since the tire has somewhat aggressive sipes. Noise was not noticeable. The Pacifica is a heavy vehicle, and the size I bought is "Extra Load" rated, so I do not think all of these comments would apply to use of this tire on a much lighter sedan. The tread belt (at least on this size) is six ply. I will endeavor to input again later after more experience with the tire.

...All tires should handle well in dry weather...
The tires are still new (less that 1000mi) but I have driven them in heavy downpours as well as dry surfaces and they handle perfectly at any speed. No hydroplaning or even a hint even at 65 to 70mph. I had to slam on my brakes this morning in the rain and they stopped as if I was on dry pavement!
These tires are remarkable! I was skeptical that a $535 out the door set of tires would be any good, but I could not have asked for more. My primary concerns were rain handling and smoothness with quiet ride. All tires should handle well in dry weather.
These are fantastic and I highly recommend them. This is my second post on these tires.

...So far with 7000+ miles driving starting in June, 2011 in dry, wet conditions the tires have been fine... Traction - wet or dry seems very good as is lack of tendency to hydroplane...
Did alot of soul searching on the Tire Rack site for what tire to get. Finally camedown to the Continental CrossContactLX. The reviews rated the tires from terrible to excellent as do the reviews for many of the other brands of tires. Made the decision tough. So far with 7000+ miles driving starting in June, 2011 in dry, wet conditions the tires have been fine. Tire noise is difficult to judge as our highways are in such bad repair that most stretches of highway produce different levels of noise depending on their surface conditions, repairs, expansion joints, etc. They don't see any better or worse than the OEM Michelins (went 65000+ miles down to the wear bars)on noise. Traction - wet or dry seems very good as is lack of tendency to hydroplane. Winter is yet to come so we will see how the Conti's perform then. So far overall, I am satisfied. Ordered the tires on a Wednesday AM and the installer called on Thursday that he had received the tires and I had them installed on Monday. The installer was Jessups Auto in LaGrange Park, IL who did a great job of mounting and balancing the tires/wheels without damaging the alloy wheels which damage to the finish would lead to serious rim leaks. Of course, Chicago is close to South Bend. On a Mercury Villager Van, I went through three sets of different generation Goodyear Aqua-Tred tires at thought they were the best all year tires I had ever had so now on a different and bigger van we'll see how the Conti's do.

Tire felt stiff and a little harsh after installation. After a month they felt better. Very quiet and comfortable ride; better then original tires. MPG improved only slightly and mostly on highway. City driving MPG is the same. I'm happy with the product and the deal.

...Much quieter than the Grabber's, smoother ride, less jouncing (transmission of jolts/bumps into the cabin)...probably due to a softer sidewall...but that's okay...we love the smooth ride...
Just replaced worn OEM General Grabber's on our Pathfinder with Continental CrossContact LX's. I am so impressed. Much quieter than the Grabber's, smoother ride, less jouncing (transmission of jolts/bumps into the cabin)...probably due to a softer sidewall...but that's okay...we love the smooth ride. Ours never goes off the road, so ride and towing characreristics are important. So far, LOVE THIS TIRE (my experiences with Continental on my SAAB's & Volvo's have been VERY good as well; really becoming a Continental fan); Also, used the tire rack dealer network here locally. Worked out like a charm. Good reputation for store, though they don't carry Continental. No hassles with installation. Great!

...I liked the Continental's smooth, comfortable feel. Also, they were very quiet until the tread started getting thin...
About to retire my Continental CrossContact LX all weather tires after 55,000 miles. There wasn't much left of them but I can't complain. I definetely got my money's worth. They replaced the original Goodyear Wrangler GT's which were complete garbage. My vehicle is a 2003 Grand Cherokee which I mostly drive around town and on highways.
I liked the Continental's smooth, comfortable feel. Also, they were very quiet until the tread started getting thin. I felt like they were sure-footed on dry pavement and okay on wet. Two winters ago we had 3 major snowstorms (over 12 inches) in the DC area. I never had any problems getting where I needed to go. This past winter we had one significant storm that hit during the evening rush hour. My Jeep handled it just fine while many other vehicles were getting ditched. The tires had just over 50K at the time.
Overall I feel like the Continental CrossContact LX's were an excellent value and I would buy them again. My only complaint is that they squealed loudly when cornering in parking garages when they were newer. Eventually that stopped.

...69,000 miles! Surpassed the OE Continental 4x4 Contact tires by over 30,000 miles... Just ensured proper tire pressure and rotated them at 12,000 mile intervals...
Excellent tires at 69,000 miles! Surpassed the OE Continental 4x4 Contact tires by over 30,000 miles. Tires were subject to all weather conditions given that I live in Cleveland, Ohio. Just ensured proper tire pressure and rotated them at 12,000 mile intervals. No other tire on this vehicle has come close to these. I was a little skeptical about the Standard 65,000 warranty, but the manufacture was right on. Thanks.

I've had these for 60k now and they are just about ready to be replaced in another 2k miles. I run 45k miles per year and on the highway average 70 mph for 3 hours per day when traveling. These have been the best tires I've ever owned on the last 4 cars and will buy them again.

...To give you an idea of the treadware, on my 6,000lbs truck, with the tires balanced properly and rotated every 6,000 miles, the Continental treads have worn just over 2/32in in 20,000 miles. Given that they continue to stay balanced and my front end aligned, I should easily get 75,000 miles out of these, which is exactly how long the Michelins lasted...
I went from Michelin XC LT4 to Continental CrossContact LX. The treadware, traction, steering response and cornering for the Continental is right on par with the previous Michelins. Ride comfort is a little reduced because the Continental rubber seems to be made out of a harder composite. As far as price, the Continentals are hard to beat. They were $300 cheaper than the Michelins and are basically the same in quality.
