Customers Say

Customer feedback data reveals strong dry traction performance (scores 8-10 dominate) with many users praising confident handling on paved roads. Wet traction shows split results-many report solid wet grip (7-9 range), but hydroplaning resistance occasionally dips into concerning 3-5 scores. Winter traction earns mixed praise, with rugged-condition users noting reliable snow capability (6-10) but inconsistent ice performance. Comfort divides opinions: some highlight smooth rides (7-10), while others criticize road noise and harshness (0-5 scores). Treadwear ratings cluster in the 6-10 range, though several 0-5 outliers suggest durability concerns under heavy use. Overall, it satisfies on-road all-terrain needs but shows variability in wet/winter refinement.

...The best part is wet weather on the hwy. Total control...

I wish I would have put these on sooner! The 255 just barely fits. The best part is wet weather on the hwy. Total control. I have had other Wranglers on other Jeeps but nothing has been like the AT/S. Good sidewall protection too. No complaints here.

...These tires are great on wet a dry pavement. When setting up and running rallys, there are many times when I pull off the road in various conditions ( mud, rocks, pebbles, grass, dirt). These tires have always pulled me out (in 4wd mode of course) without spinning the tires (and destroying my route measurements).

I use the S-10 and the tires mainly on road rallys and grass/dirt rallycrosses with the local SCCA folks. These tires are great on wet a dry pavement. When setting up and running rallys, there are many times when I pull off the road in various conditions (mud, rocks, pebbles, grass, dirt, etc). These tires have always pulled me out (in 4wd mode of course) without spinning the tires (and destroying my route measurements). In 4wd rallycrosses, the tires pull the vehicle through the course quite well without much effort. Tread wear is not great, but then I drive rather aggressive on back roads. That and 93 S-10s are known for weak front-ends that cause abnormal tire wear. Road noise? Who cares ... theyre great tires!

...These will be the only tire I buy for this truck, great dry traction, great wet traction, and great snow traction...

Great tire for the money, with almost 60,000 miles on the first set that the truck had on it when I purchesed it, and with the deal I got on the second set I couldent pass these up. These will be the only tire I buy for this truck, great dry traction, great wet traction, and great snow traction. Have been offroad many times and have never been stuck once were others have. Kinda loud for an A/T tire, but for the way the truck is drivin I can't complain. Will be buying again when the time comes!!!

Im curious about the very different responses folks have had to this tire. Ive had great satisfaction with these tires. They are oem, LT rated, and have done everything Ive asked them to do. Ive had them on glare, unsanded icey roads and gotten around amazingly well. Uphill to the ski slopes same thing. Was able to park in the "chains only lot at one resort after convincing the grouchy old guy directing traffic that Id have no problem while others were getting sideways climbing the icy road to it. Ive never been stuck in any situation with these tires including mud, sandy beaches, and wet grass. I work in house construction and recently backed up a 20 degree, muddy, offcamber hillside to get near the house I was working on and did fine even after the suface got "churned-up". My truck has the factory limited slip diff and the part time 4wd (manual shift) set-up. It weighs 5200 lbs empty. I tow a 5000 lb trailer in 100 degree weather aproximatly 500 miles a year. Ive rotated the tires at about 10k since new. Tey hav 43,000 miles and 1/4" tread depth in the middle with even wear. Im planning on buying a new set (even though they arent cheap) because Ive been so happy with them and because the spare is brand new, never used so Im only buying three. If I had to buy four I might be looking for a less expensive alternative but they would have to be as good as these tires that Ive come to be so confident in. Frankly I cant see why others are complaining about them so vigorously. I wonder if it could be that the LT (Light Truck) versions are a better quality or something. Or maybe they work best on heavy vehicles ( more than 5000 lb, not your avg Toyota or Explorer). Any way, this has been a long rave but its the real deal in my case.

...Handled very well in snow, rain, slush, or icy roads... This week with winter coming, I will be replacing these with the same skins again! Truly been an amazing tire...

These came as the originals for this truck and I am truly impressed! Towing, off-road, and highway all excellent! I rotated them every 5K and ran 45LBs unless towing, then bumped air to 50-55lbs. Handled very well in snow, rain, slush, or icy roads. Ran up and down ramps when unloading/loading the boats, a 19+ ft Ranger with full tank and a 16' Lund. Never had a problem, while others were spinning their wheels.

We have 1/2 mile rough logging road into our cabin and always got through without a hitch. Last week with 83,980 miles on these tires out in a wet cow pasture, I pulled a stuck bobcat out of a 3' sinkhole. Never spun the tires while having the truck in 4x4 low. Amazing! This week with winter coming, I will be replacing these with the same skins again! Truly been an amazing tire. Could probably go another 5K miles easily, but winter is coming and rather have the peace of mind instead of changing them out mid winter.

...On dry is where the tires do good as of my experience as well as on dirt and loose rocks with dirt...

Bought these tires early September of 2019 for my suburban the main reason I went with them was that these were the OE fitment of my vehicle. That aside I have put just shy over 9k miles on them as of February 2020. My experience so far with them have been mixed. They look good on the vehicle not too simple but not too aggressive either but on the vehicle it looks decent. On dry is where the tires do good as of my experience as well as on dirt and loose rocks with dirt. I drive mostly highway but I live in South Texas so it's impossible to not hit some off road areas every now and then. However they do poor on mud mainly I guess because of the thread pattern it cakes up fast and doesn't eject it out quite well that I can deal with since I try to avoid mud as much as possible with this vehicle and these tires but I am disappointed with their wet performance. When it rains I need to be extra careful with these tires as they tend to slide a lot easier when braking as well as when taking off from a complete stop I don't have these type of problems with the tires that I have on my two other vehicles which are Cooper AT3s 4S and Falken Wildpeak A/T AT3W. What I do really like so far is that it is wearing beautifully all 4 of them and so far no chips or cuts on them either. Despite this I will probably not buy again mostly because of the wet performance other than that they are good tires.

...Dry traction and cornering for this tire is slightly above average. I would rate the tire in that condition alone, a 6 out of 10...

I drive a Ford Explorer and I consider myself a capable driver. I only have about 500 mi on these tires and I will replace them ASAP. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE wet (rain) traction tire. These tires tend to lose their grip when a moderate amount of water is on the road; especially on the highway.

I havent rode on these tires in slush and snow...and Im not going to take the chance, either. If these tires are horrible wet traction tires in the rain, Im not going to risk it in slush, which is coming to this area very soon. In Cleveland, OH, we get a moderate to heavy amount of rain during the fall because of Lake Erie and the Midwest weather patterns. We also get a lot of slush during December, late February and March. I used these tires to replace the Michelins that I received because of the Ford tire recall. I got gyped. Take it from me fellas, STAY AWAY FROM THIS TIRE if you live in a area where you get fair amount of rain during spring and fall. Dry traction and cornering for this tire is slightly above average. I would rate the tire in that condition alone, a 6 out of 10.

I will be replacing these tires ASAP.

...In the end, I was satisfied with their traction, wear, comfort, and noise levels...

I've experienced good service with this tire. This tire has performed well in WA rain and snow storms and has maintained good traction throughout my ownership and in all weather conditions (in fact, very good traction in light snow and ice). The set of AT/S that I'm offering this review on were OEM optional equipment on my GMC truck. If someone were to ask me whether they should buy these tires; I'd have to say that I wouldn't be able to offer a reason as to why they shouldn't buy them, but I think there are probably better tires on the market. In the end, I was satisfied with their traction, wear, comfort, and noise levels. My set of AT/S has never left me feeling like I needed more tire in terms of performance or capability. If you engage in extreme or challenging off-road driving conditions; then the AT/S is probably not the tire for you. If you're looking for a sure-footed tire that performs well; then the AT/S seems to fill that bill. I would classify my driving style as average. Roads that I typically travel on are comprised of city, highway, logging trails, and fire breaks. My road weather conditions throughout the year consist of dry, lots of rain, light to medium snow, and occassional ice.

Additionally, I should note that I've recently changed tires. I've switched to a set of Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors. I switched tires because I wanted to move-up to 33's and not because of any issues with the AT/S. However, as I mentioned earlier, I think the Silent Armors are one of those tires that is simply a better tire than the AT/S. I'll offer a review of the Silent Armors once I get at least a full year of driving on them and in all weather conditions (mud, snow, ice, rain, and summer).

...For a off road tire it is very comfortable, and quiet...

I will tell you these tires have been through --------. On a dialy basis i pull trucks and other vehicles out of the mud or what ever they are stuck in. I also like do it myself though i have never gotten stuck. These trires have been slamed aginst solid rock at 30 mph, hit tree branches going 45 and alot more. It is amazing how well these tires do off road as well as on road. I took a trip with my family from Texas were we live to Ohio were some of our family is. It was winter time. The dry and wet tracyion are great. they do great on ice, and snow, well they have been through about 2 feet of the white stuff and no problem gripping it. The hydroplaing resistance is remarkable. Cornering stability and steering responce is outstanding. For a off road tire it is very comfortable, and quiet. The treatwear is unbelievable concibering i am off road most of my time. I will definatly get these tires again, if i even have two.

...Quiet, smooth and comfortable riding all the way up to 52,000 miles... These Wranglers where comfortable riding in cold temps...

These Wrangler AT/S's came as OEM equipment with my new GMC Sierra. After 3 and 1/2 years and 52,000 miles I just replaced them regrettably with the Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2's ( Read my recent review on the Dueler Revo 2's ). The Wrangler AT/S's are a great tire. Quiet, smooth and comfortable riding all the way up to 52,000 miles. Very good traction on pavement and off road. I got 2 to 3 mpg more with these Wranglers than I now get with the new Bridgstone Revo 2's. These Wranglers where comfortable riding in cold temps. and very good traction on icy and snowy roads. I would rotate them every 4 to 5K miles, and never had to re-balance them. I believe I could have put another 5k miles on them. But changed them in anticapation of a 2,500 mile trip to Minnesota in December. I would happily trade out of my new Revo 2's for another set of the Wrangler AT/S's.

Treadwear and noies on these tires is great compared to other all-terrain/off road tires Ive had. Had these for 25,000 miles now and the tread still looks great. This tire is a great compromise between being practicle for on-road and aggressive enough off road.

I have never had a tire wear as well as these ( 116,000 miles) and the traction is the best I have ever seen in all conditions...

I bought the tires based on a review in a hunting magazine. I absolutely love these tires and have rejected several different types to replace my current set to get the same ones. I have the AT/S LT 265-70-17 NOT the AT/S P265-70-17. Big difference in design. I have never had a tire wear as well as these (116,000 miles - NO JOKE!) and the traction is the best I have ever seen in all conditions. I drive alot of highway miles but require EXCELLENT traction because of where I live(Snow belt). The only thing I really didnt like about the tires is the road force. I fought this issue quite a bit when I first got them. They have always had the vibration but I am that satisfied with the tire performance and wear that I am getting a new set.

These tires were original equipment when I bought my truck. The treadwear is amazing. I tow a 10,000 fifth wheel and have had no problems. Rotated them every 5,000 miles. I still can't believe I got 71,000 miles out of them. Even though they have treated me well, I'm going to try a different tire this time around.
