The Tech R^A (with the "A" signifying advanced) is the latest Competition tire member of AVON Tyres' family of Tech performance tires. Developed and manufactured by Avon Tyres Racing* in Melksham, England, Tech R^A Competition tires were developed for the drivers of competition sports cars, coupes and sedans who participate in North American autocross, track and road racing events in dry conditions.**

Compared to the original Tech R tires, Tech R^A radials are further tuned to make the most of the narrower Original Equipment wheel sizes utilized in the Stock classes and are designed to reduce times by blending great dry traction with improved steering response and cornering stability without a reduction in treadwear.

On the outside, Tech R^A radials feature a more responsive, high grip racing tread compound molded into a symmetric tread design featuring a "slick" tread surface with two circumferential tread grooves. This maximizes their contact area with the track and allows them to be mounted on either side of the car. Beginning with a tread depth of 4/32", they will not require shaving for competition, however they will benefit from heat cycling before competition to enhance wear and provide more consistent performance.

On the inside, the Tech R^A radials feature a revised symmetric internal construction and casing profile that includes a deeper "rim recess" bead design. Tech R^A radials feature twin, lightweight steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon along with a carcass that adds an aramid- and steel-reinforced sidewall filler to three nylon cord plies to resist deformation at high speeds and when cornering.

The performance of Tech R^A radials is not compatible with the original Tech R tires and the two should never be mixed on the same vehicle.

NOTE: While the Tech R^A radials have an inflated shape with rounded shoulders to complement camber-challenged cars, they still benefit from vehicle alignments that offer significant negative camber.

**Caution: While Tech R^A radials meet U.S. DOT requirements, they are not intended for highway use as the expected miles of wear from their racing tread compounds is greatly reduced. The Tech R^A is not recommended for driving in wet conditions where there is the risk of hydroplaning. Drivers should drive cautiously at reduced speeds in these conditions.
