Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The Transforce AT is Firestone's Commercial All-Terrain light truck tire developed for the drivers of multipurpose full-sized pickups, vans, sport utility and commercial vehicles looking for heavy-duty light truck tires that can combine traction on the highway, as well as at work jobsites and recreation areas. The Transforce AT is designed to provide on- and off-road traction in dry, wet and wintry conditions, including snow.

Transforce AT radials feature a Long Link Carbon tread compound molded into a symmetric tread design that uses notched shoulders, independent intermediate tread blocks and multiple sipes to blend dry-road handling with poor weather traction. Wide circumferential grooves provide hydroplaning resistance while lateral grooves and multiple sipes provide the biting edges needed to enhance snow traction.

The tire's structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spiral-wrapped nylon to help maintain the tire's shape and enhance performance at highway speeds while a polyester cord body improves ride quality.

Firestone Reviews

Ratings data demonstrates the Firestone Transforce AT excels in dry traction (frequent 9-10 scores) and delivers a comfortable ride with low noise levels, aligning well with its all-terrain purpose. Wet traction shows mixed results (scores 4-8), with some customers noting reduced hydroplaning resistance in heavy rain. Winter performance raises concerns, particularly on ice (common 0-4 scores) and deep snow, highlighting limitations in severe conditions. Treadwear feedback varies widely (0-10 range), with some praising durability while others report premature wear. While not winter-focused, its rugged dry performance and comfort make it a solid choice for commercial/off-road use, though wet and winter conditions warrant cautious driving.

...road traction is great in all conditions and the wear has been even across all tires...

Great tires, I've driven in light to heavy snow was able to push and pull vehicles that were stuck, road traction is great in all conditions and the wear has been even across all tires. I've driven from Rhode Island to Florida with no problems. I noticed most of the complaints about these tires come from people who drive Dodge's is it the tire or the truck? I will definitely buy again.

...Very good handling tire - track well and corner very well...

Have about 88,000 miles of mostly highway driving on these ATs and they still have about 4/32 left. Will replace them with another set of TransForce tires in time for winter snows. This is an incredibly quiet tire despite the AT tread design. Very good handling tire - track well and corner very well. Ride on sharp bumps is harsher than softer P-rated tires - although I'm running with 41 pounds of air in the Transforce vs 32 for my vehicle's original equipment P-rated Goodyear tires. Deep snow traction is decent but not as good as some other AT tires having a more aggressive tread design - but many other ATs are way too noisy as a tradeoff. Very puncture resistant - drive regularly on gravel roads up near the Canadian border that do in many other tires on friend's trucks - no flats on the Transforce ATs so far.

...Wet/Dry/Snow is all good but just not as good as I remember the Michelin's being...

I am on my third set of these tires. Overall, I gave them high marks except for wear. On my previous truck (an '06 2500 version of this truck) I always ran Michelin tires and was extremely happy with the mileage I got out of them. Traded that truck on this one at 280K miles. This truck came with these and my first set was replaced prematurely due to alignment from the factory (discounted that set as no tire will last with 3/4" too much toe-in). Looked into Michelin's but the size was not available so I replaced them with another set of Transforce AT's after a good alignment. That set lasted about 50K miles. BUT...I need to mention that I run my tires longer than I should--past hitting the wear bars. Wet/Dry/Snow is all good but just not as good as I remember the Michelin's being. This truck weighs 1K pounds more than the '06 but on one set of Michelin's on that truck I got 117K miles. I'll probably get around 55K on this set and in the big picture that's not too bad but I will be trying a set of Michelin's on the next set to see if they last longer. They now make a 285/60R20 which is more of an on-road tread as well as a 275/65R20 that is a slightly wider and slightly taller tire size than what came on my truck.

...They are excellent on the road when not towing and are quiet and very smooth...

I tow a 12,500 lb. 36 ft Hitchhiker Fifth-wheel trailer up and down from Boston,Mass to the Florida Keys every winter for the past 7 years with my 2001 Chevy 2500 H D Duramax diesel truck and I have had Excellent luck with these tires. Never a blow out, never a flat, driving about 110,000 miles, and these are the second set of Firestone tires after the new original equipment tires lasted over 60,000 miles and still had a fair amount of thread left, probably 30 % They are excellent on the road when not towing and are quiet and very smooth. The Best tires I have owned in 40 years. Nice job Firestone!!!

...When I put the Transforce AT tires on it was like night and day difference. The ride was so much more comfortable, smooth, and quiet it felt like a completely different truck...

This must be the most underrated tire I've ever purchased. They were running a deal on these tires at a local store so I gave them a shot and I am so happy I did. The tires I had on before this set were the bfgoofrich rugged terrain which I now realize were absolutely horrible tires. I drive a 06 Chevy Silverado 2500HD ext cab 8 bed and the bfg tires made my truck ride like a dump truck which I thought was normal due to the 10ply rated tires and HD suspension. When I put the Transforce AT tires on it was like night and day difference. The ride was so much more comfortable, smooth, and quiet it felt like a completely different truck. I own a snow removal business and plow with my silverado. I wasn't expecting much from these tires in the snow due to the ratings on tire rack but I was totally blown away these tires were fantastic in the snow from light slippery roads to knee deep snow no problems at all anywhere plowing all day. I can't speak for longevity yet because I only have about 2500 miles on them so far I love them no complaints at all. I just can't seem to understand why these tires rate so bad on Tirerack, they may not be the best tire out there but so far they have been the best tires I've ever owned.

Driven on a diesel F250 4x4 supercab in northern New England (New Hampshire). I travel 45 miles one way to work. Purchased these from my Ford dealer of all places, and was pleased not only with price but all around performance. Getting through the nor'easter snow storms is critical, and these tires work so far. Nice ride quality, even with load range E. With 20,000 miles, they are hardly worn. Will buy these again.

...They drive alright on dry roads, but are absolutely dangerous on wet roads and especially in snow- even at slow speeds... The Firestones also hydroplane in any amount of rain- likely because there are no lateral grooves to evacuate water...

Absolutely the worst tire I have ever owned. These came as original equipment on my RAM 2500 truck. I am honestly shocked that RAM would put these tires on one of their vehicles. They drive alright on dry roads, but are absolutely dangerous on wet roads and especially in snow- even at slow speeds. If you look closely at the tire there are no lateral grooves/ blocks in the tread. The tread essentially consists of 4 vertical bands, with nothing lateral other than a small amount of sipes. I have nearly wrecked my truck several times- fortunately at low speeds in even a trace amount of snow. Even in 4wd low my truck often cannot make it up my mildly sloped driveway in snow-which is pitiful for a 4wd 3/4 ton truck, my wifes 2wd with all season tires never so much as slips. I have even slid off the road sideways at a complete stop on a crowned road. Today I made the mistake of trying to move my snowmobile trailer 30ft in my driveway in 1 inch of snow, the truck lost traction and it resulted in sliding backwards and jackknifing the trailer, causing damage to both my truck and my trailer. I have owned several trucks with other brands of tires and have never experienced anything as bad as this tire. My last truck had Goodyear Wrangler AT's with Kevlar and they were phenomenal and will be replacing these firestones ASAP. The Firestones also hydroplane in any amount of rain- likely because there are no lateral grooves to evacuate water. Wear is not terrible for an OE tire- I have about 40% tread left at 16000 miles. If you are considering this tire please choose something else if you ever drive in snow or even in a lot of rain as these tires aren't just poor but are dangerous.

...Although the tread is still ok, the traction on wet surfaces are scary and the first and only winter so far with these tires were really bad with traction in light snow...

These tires came as original equipment with my Ram 2500 4wd. I purchased the the Ram in September 2016 and its November 2017, I have 37000 miles and 85% is highway miles. Although the tread is still ok, the traction on wet surfaces are scary and the first and only winter so far with these tires were really bad with traction in light snow. Would not purchase these again. Very cheaply made in my opinion.

...Similar bad experience with winter driving here in Minnesota. Fishtails very easily, needed four-wheel drive to turn through a somewhat icy intersection in town yesterday...

There is nothing All Terrain about these tires. Hunting this fall, needed a tow up a small hill in a field that was slightly muddy. We had 6 trucks in that field and mine was the only one that couldn't navigate the hill. As one buddy commented, "Don't drive in fields with racing slicks." I was not amused. Similar bad experience with winter driving here in Minnesota. Fishtails very easily, needed four-wheel drive to turn through a somewhat icy intersection in town yesterday. Buying new tires today, enough is enough. RAM should not put these tires on the truck out of the factory.

...Treadwear is horrible! 20k miles and they are nearly worn out!...

My company purchases these tires exclusively for their trucks. Personally I'd find something else. Treadwear is horrible! 20k miles and they are nearly worn out! It's a good looking tire and when it's new it's relatively dependable. Predictable manners onroad with good traction off-road. But after 5k miles that goes away and you really have to be careful with traction. Maybe this GMC is overpowered or something but for me, I'll get something different for my pickup.

This set of tires came standard when I purchased my 2015 Ram. These are easily the worst set of OEM tires I've ever seen. I rotate tires on all my vehicles between 5 and 10 thousand miles and I don't drive like a maniac and yet these tires are already just a hair less than half worn. At this rate I'll be needing a new set within the next year, which is bad enough, but the tires also ---- in wet weather and snow. Even in 4wd, these tires will spin coming out of my driveway with just a trace of snow on the ground. That never happened in any of the tires I ran on my previous trucks. Firestone and Ram should be ashamed to put this kind of junk on any vehicle.

These were factory tires on the truck. Would never buy them. 14 moths and 18k miles and they are shot, I am one thousands off the wear indicator being flush with the tread, light off road on well established trails/road and chunks were taken out of the tires tread. Wear as indicated in the first part was horrible, no life in the tire, wear is even .5 thousands from inside to outside, rotated every 5k-6k when I needed an oil change. I would be worried about the life if I was towing anything. These saw small bumper pulls towing friends cars a couple of times short distances. Anything long haul with a heavy load I am worried they would wear out faster. Stay away don't walk run if you have any heft in your vehicle.
