Highway All-Season tires are for drivers who want a combination of pleasant on-road characteristics, long wear and all-season versatility, including traction in light snow. Highway All-Season tires branded with the M+S symbol are often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on 2WD and 4WD, light- and medium-duty vans, trucks and pickups, as well as crossover and sport utility vehicles.
O.E. Highway All-Season tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle's original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires' performance category and specifications.

Customers think the Goodyear Wrangler ST delivers strong dry traction (scores 8-10 frequently noted), with reliable cornering stability and steering responsiveness in highway conditions. However, treadwear receives mixed feedback, with some reporting rapid wear despite high-mileage claims. Comfort and noise levels show inconsistency, with a subset of ratings highlighting harshness or excessive road noise. Winter and wet traction raise concerns, as scores often fall below 5, indicating limited confidence in slippery conditions. While performing adequately for routine highway use, its all-season capabilities face skepticism-particularly in snow and heavy rain-with some customers suggesting it struggles beyond dry-road demands.

I had purchased my truck new with the OEM tires on it. Much to my suprise what I had thought to be good tires were TOTAL CRAP! As I was driving out of the new car lot; may I say very slowly because it was raining; I had lost total traction and crashed into a lane of oncoming traffic. I was O.K ; as for the truck the front end was replaced. The accident report said it was due to incliment weather but I know the truth it was the tires. So far I still havent replaced the tires yet after almost 2 1/2 years because I have been deployed. You can bet when I get back I will replace these tires, and take them to the closest Goodyear plant and burn them in the parking lot! Will I Purchase these tires again? ... probably not.

These tires came stock on my Jeep Liberty and I cannot stand them any longer. At 20,000 miles the wear is unacceptable even doing a five-tire rotation every 7,000 miles. They do everything poorly in dry weather, and in wet weather they are absolutely dangerous. They have almost caused two accidents on wet city streets and I have even asked my wife to not drive the vehicle with children in it on wet surfaces until I can get some new tires on. These should have been recalled and Jeep should be ashamed to have cut corners in a way that is dangerous like this.

...Let one drop of rain or dew appear, and they slide all over. They are positively DANGEROUS to have on the vehicle.
Ive owned about 25 different vehicles in my lifetime, and Ive driven easily a couple of million miles under all kinds of conditions all over the world. Ive had Michelins, Pirellis, Contis, Avons, Goodyears, Firestones, Coopers, Bridgestones, Kellys, and more. Ive had the best, and Ive had cheap-s**t when I couldnt afford better.
BUT: I have NEVER experienced any tires as bad as these. On bone dry pavement, they are "OK" (not the most directionally stable, though). Let one drop of rain or dew appear, and they slide all over hells half acre. They are positively DANGEROUS to have on the vehicle. Even with a little dusting of snow, Ill put the vehicle in 4WD -- its too risky to drive it in 2WD. Forget it altogether off-road. After one or two outings, Im positively afraid to take them on anything by a "surfaced" gravel road. Certainly not in the mud or rocks!
And! Ive rotated them each 6000 miles, but at 19,000 miles, theyre more than half gone. They will be history before 30,000. I CANT WAIT TO GET THEM OFF MY JEEP!!! Goodyear should be thoroughly ashamed -- if not sued -- for allowing such crap on the road.
I will NEVER buy anything from Goodyear again. Period.

Winter traction is unacceptable, with many customers scoring 0-5 in snow and ice conditions. Frequent reports of slippery performance, loss of traction, and being stuck highlight poor winter handling for an all-season tire. While some rate 7-8, most express dissatisfaction with sketchy traction and unstable behavior in winter.

...I turned out of my driveway in less than an inch of snow and the truck kept going straight towrds my neighbors fence. The only thing that stopped me from going through the fence was the curb!...
These tires came standard on my Silverado from the factory. I think drag slicks have better traction! I turned out of my driveway in less than an inch of snow and the truck kept going straight towrds my neighbors fence. The only thing that stopped me from going through the fence was the curb! This is a very scary tire which should not be put on anything you push, pull, steer, operate or otherwise ride on,in or beside. Ten speed bikes with skinny tires have more traction in the rain and snow. The tire does ride nice and is quiet on the road. That is as much praise as I could muster for this tire. Other than that it is worthless! Save yourself and your family get rid of them now!

I picked up a 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo a few weeks ago, and the dealer had put a new set of the Wrangler STs on. I have to say, through the recent snowstorms weve had here in Denver, I have been extremely UNimpressed with this tire. The rear tires constantly spin in slick/snowy conditions, and I must ALWAYS been in 4WD to get any type of traction. I feel slippage and hear the tires squeal if I take any corner with a decent amount of speed, which really reduces my confidence level in the tire.
I just sold my 1996 Explorer which I had used with BFGoodrich TA/KOs for the last 3 years, and even with 2-3" of snow on the ground, I rarely had to use 4WD. Im immediately selling these Wranglers and going back to the BFG.
STAY AWAY from the Wrangler ST if you do any driving in snow/ice, or ever go off-road. These tires are just atrocious. But if you live in a very dry place where you are only on roads - they should be just fine. And I will admit - they provide a VERY quiet ride when driving on pavement.

These tires came standard with my 2WD Jeep. I live in Washington where rain is very common. These tires are very dangerous in rain and snow. I had to replace these tires with Bridgestone Dueler ATs with only 20,000 miles. While highway driving I lost control of my vehicle many times due to poor traction with the Wrangler STs. I Cant believe Jeep allows their vehicles to leave with these tires! You couldnt pay me to put these tires back on my Jeep.

Dry traction scores reveal concerning inconsistency, with many ratings between 0-6 indicating dissatisfaction. While some drivers report adequate grip, frequent low scores highlight unreliable performance in this critical category for highway all-season tires.

...On dry pavement, they squeal when turning and when accelerating from a dead stop.
I have finally convinced my wife that I need new tires, and thought it appropriate to tell my 38,000 mile experience. I consider traction, ride comfort, noise level and treadwear as the criteria I use for tire selection. I am not an aggressive driver, and therefore am not interested in a tires cornering or steering responsiveness. Ill start with traction. These tires were OE on my truck when purchased 2 years ago. From the beginning, they were worthless on wet pavement...zero traction. On wet days (a foggy day I consider wet with these tires) I had to baby the gas pedal or else risk being all over the road. Additionally, their snow traction is equally poor. With snow on the road, the truck had to be in 4WD to get anywhere. On dry pavement, they squeal when turnning and when accelerating from a dead stop. The ride comfort and noise level are acceptable, but certainly not great. The treadwear does seem to be ok, at 38,000 miles I could probably go another 10,000. To summarize, I dont believe these tires provide the proper traction for safe driving. I do not recommend them.

...Dry traction results in alot of squealing especially while on take off around corners...
These tires were stock on my truck when I got them. I have not even made it to the wear indicator and am having to replace them. I listed myself as a spirited driver but even for the average driver these are not good tires to have. I have a large V8 in my truck and that might be part of the cause but I can not get traction to save my life. Dry traction results in alot of squealing especially while on take off around corners. Wet traction is vertualy non exsistant. I drive carefully during rainy conditions due to the increasing inability of other drivers in my reagion ability to drive declining and still am all over the place. Hills are terrible if it is wet out. Traction off road is also terrible. While off road I have had nothing but spinning on all 4 tires. I am origionaly from Illinois and am extreamly comfortable with icy and snowy conditions but with these tires I wont even make the drive to visit during winter months for fear of my life. Not quite sure how these tires can get a good rating but the deffinently do not and should not be used on a truck. The only good thing I can say about them is the noise level is very low until you try to turn into a parking spot or make a right hand turn up a hill from a light. Would not recomend these tires to anyone. I have just ordered new General Grabber AT2s and am looking forward to them. Excelent pricing even with shipping costs.

...The tire is mushy in both cornering and heavy braking - in having to stop short in traffic I can feel the tires squirm, and once or twice the vehicle has swerved to one side or the other; with the previous tires I did not have this problem, it has only begun since getting these tires so it's not the vehicle...
On dry roads, in easy driving situations, this tire is great. It rides smoothly and is quiet.
However when you push it, it shows poor quality. The tire is mushy in both cornering and heavy braking - in having to stop short in traffic I can feel the tires squirm, and once or twice the vehicle has swerved to one side or the other; with the previous tires I did not have this problem, it has only begun since getting these tires so it's not the vehicle.
Wet traction is not confidence inspiring. The previous tires would grip the road in any wet situation; these however leave you feeling as if the Jeep will be going off road soon; the vague handling makes you worry rather than just slowing down.
Speaking of off road, I know this is a street tire, but even in dry grass it doesn't have the traction you'd expect. We do some mild offroading from time to time, and these tires are a poor choice. Comparing to the previous tires again, extremely poor traction.
Haven't driven in snow with these yet, but will try to update and expect pretty much the same performance as everywhere else - poor.
Overall, I will not purchase this tire again. It will be either Michelins or Avons for the next time...previous tires were Avon/Cooper and served well.

Numerous low scores (0-6) highlight comfort issues like harsh ride and excessive noise. While some rate 9s/10s, frequent complaints cite poor ride quality and discomfort, indicating significant improvement needed for a highway-focused tire.

...The Goodyears have a very soft ride to the point of almost making you nauseous going over bumps...
These things came stock on my GMC Sierra. How can General Motors be comfortable putting these tires on their vehicles. Ive only put about 500 miles on them and I cant wait to get rid of them. Any moisture on the road and youll just sit there spinning your tires - no matter how easy you try to accelerate. Any time you corner, regardless of speed, the tires squeal like theres no tomorrow. Our crosswalks in town are solid paint (not slash marks) and the rear end of my truck has fishtailed around the corner - and I started from a stop since I had the red light! My last truck (2003 Chevy Silverado) came stock with Firestone Wilderness ATs. I thought those were horrible and replaced them with Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos (awesome tire) at 9000 miles. The Firestones cant hold a candle to the Goodyear Wrangler STs when it comes to a scary ride. The Goodyears have a very soft ride to the point of almost making you nauseous going over bumps. Anyway, these tires will be gone by the end of the month. Looking at the Firestone Destination ATs (they got great reviews). Id go with the Bridgestone Revos again, but with a price difference of $40 a tire, Ill give the Firestones a try. DONT BUY GOODYEAR WRANGLER ST TIRES!!!

...While treadwear, ride comfort, and noise level are adequate on dry pavement long distance interstate driving, in nearly all other ways Ive found them wanting...
I have a 05 Liberty CRD diesel. These tires would be better suited to passenger car service than trying to deal with the weight (4300 lbs) and low end engine torque of a diesel SUV. While treadwear, ride comfort, and noise level are adequate on dry pavement long distance interstate driving, in nearly all other ways Ive found them wanting. Wet road traction is nonexistent, directly resulting in an accident that reqired major front end repair, and some close friends with the same model vehicle and tires had the same experience, both accidents at speeds below 40 mph on wet level roads. Even at 35 mph with ABS on a level wet road, these tires slid like roller skates and were unable to stop my vehicle in 5 car lengths and t-boned a vehicle which had pulled out in front of me. These tires act as if theyre riding on slick glass on a wet road. The torque of the diesel engine will often break these tires loose even on dry pavement, especially with an upgraded torque converter and aftermarket ECM tune, in particular when making a right turn accelerating out into traffic. Cornering on winding secondary roads is dicey, vehicle often feeling as if its on the verge of tipping over, unless I significantly decelerate before entering a curve (often below the posted limit). Unless your vehicle is equipped with electronic traction control, stability control, and ABS, I would definitely not recommend these tires on a larger vehicle and/or in bad weather situations. In summary, these tires would do well for fair weather light duty passenger car service, but are way out of their league for light truck/SUV duty in bad conditions. Even with what looks to be the majority of their tread life still ahead of them at 25K miles, I will be replacing them prior to the onset of winter weather and/or another long trip.

Treadwear ratings show mixed results, with many scores between 0-6. Customers report premature wear, excessive tread loss, and needing replacement earlier than expected. While some rate durability highly (9s/10s), dissatisfaction dominates, citing rapid wear and lower-than-expected mileage for a highway all-season tire.

...But very disappointed that I only got 35,000 miles out of them... all 4 tires show very even wear ( 2/32 & 3/32) at 35,055...
These were OE tires from Jeep. I was very happy with them when they were new and throughout most of their life. But very disappointed that I only got 35,000 miles out of them. I have read the other reviews on this site and I dont understand why my mileage is so low. I average 15,000 miles a year. 65% is highway miles @ 65-70 MPH and the rest is all local driving. I do a lot of towing when Im driving on the highway, but my various trailers (small boat & ATV) are only between 1,000 lbs to 2,100 lbs. total tow weight. I keep an eye on the air pressure, I rotate them every other oil change (3,000 to 3,500 mi.). The wheel alignment is good, but all 4 tires show very even wear (2/32 & 3/32)at 35,055. I dont understand why?? I am in the process of replacing them with BF Goodrich Long trail T/A which seem to have a much better treadwear rating along with a better traction and temp rating of A/B.
