The BluEarth S34 is Yokohama’s ecologically oriented Grand Touring All-Season tire chosen as Original Equipment for Toyota Prius v five passenger, front-wheel drive crossover vehicles. Developed to combine year-round traction, handling and comfort with reduced environmental impact, BluEarth S34 tires feature Yokohama’s proprietary technology that uses renewable orange oil to reduce the use of petroleum. Designed to enhance vehicle fuel economy by reducing tire rolling resistance, the BluEarth S34 delivers year-round traction, even in light snow.
Yokohama BluEarth S34 tires feature an all-season tread compound that reduces energy loss while blending dry, wet and wintertime traction. This compound is molded into a symmetric tread design with tie-barred shoulders, intermediate ribs and center blocks for dry road tracking and traction. Four circumferential grooves help water flow from under the footprint to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction while numerous notches and sipes increase the edges that bite into light snow.
The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon on top of a polyester casing to blend ride comfort and durability.

El neumático BluEarth S34 de Yokohama posee una orientación ecológica y pertenece a la categoría: Gran Turismo Para Toda Estación. Fue escogido como equipo original (O.E., por sus siglas en inglés) para el utiliauto (crossover)Toyota Prius v de cinco pasajeros, con tracción delantera. Fue desarrollado para combinar tracción durante todo el año, maniobrabilidad y confort, con, un impacto reducido al medio ambiente. El neumático BlueEarth S34 utiliza la tecnología de Yokohama, que utiliza aceite de naranja renovable, para disminuir el uso de petróleo. Su diseño reduce el consumo de combustible, al reducir, la resistencia a rodar, además de, ofrece tracción durante todas las temporadas del año, inclusive en el invierno sobre superficies con poca nieve.
El neumático BluEarth posee un compuesto de caucho para toda estación, que reduce la perdida de energía, al mismo tiempo de combinar tracción sobre superficies secas, mojadas y durante el invierno. Este compuesto, es moldeado en una banda de rodamiento con diseño simétrico, que cuenta con tacos o bloques en los hombros similares a barras ubicadas muy cerca unas de las otras, segmentos intermedios de bloques y uno central para mejor tracción. Cuatro canales circunferenciales ayudan a que el agua fluya en el área de contacto con la carretera, para mejorar la tracción sobre agua y la resistencia al deslizamiento sobre agua (hydroplaning). Bloques con superficies cóncavas y pequeñas ranuras aumentan los bordes adherentes necesarios, para “morder” la nieve ligera y así mejorar la tracción.
La estructura interna del BluEarth S34 cuenta con correas gemelas de acero reforzadas con nailon envuelto en espiral, por encima de un armazón de poliéster, esto, para combinar confort y durabilidad.
