The Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia is one of Bridgestone's ecologically oriented Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tires developed for the drivers of small- and medium-sized crossover and sport utility vehicles looking to combine year-round traction, handling and comfort with reduced environmental impact. Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia tires are designed to enhance vehicle fuel economy by reducing tire rolling resistance* along with the vehicle's carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions while delivering year-round all-season traction, even in light snow.
The Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia uses an all-season tread compound featuring Bridgestone's unique NanoPro-Tech (Nanostructure-Oriented Properties Control Technology) to reduce rolling resistance and energy loss while maintaining dry, wet and wintertime traction.
This compound is molded into a symmetric tread design that combines notched shoulders and intermediate ribs with independent center blocks for dry road tracking and traction. Four circumferential grooves are designed to help water flow from under the footprint to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction while notches and sipes increase the edges that bite into light snow. The tire sidewalls feature Bridgestone's Fuel Saver compound to further increase efficiency.
The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon on top of a polyester casing to blend ride comfort and durability.
*Specific sizes featuring Ecopia technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

...Very low road noise, significantly improved traction and handling ( both dry and wet), and very good steering responsiveness...
Originally I was skeptical of fuel efficiency claims... however I am pleasantly surprised of the 1 MPG (or so) of improved gas mileage of combined Highway and City driving. Compared to the OEM Goodyear Fortera's, these Ecopia tires are outstanding. Very low road noise, significantly improved traction and handling (both dry and wet), and very good steering responsiveness. These tires have a very soft compound, I am interested to see how long they will last but the 65,000 mile warranty suggests they are designed to last. Overall outstanding tire so far, very pleased.

...Wet pavement is fine as long as Im not trying to drive like a maniac. I notice some low speed slippage if Im whipping around corners but for the most part I have yet to get unsettled. As far as hydroplaning and driving through deep puddles quickly, they do a great job...
I have never been a fan of Bridgestone tires. They Chop up all the time and never provided the best wear like Michelin, Pirelli and Dunlop. My Brother works for Bridgestone and I decided to try them out on my X5. I immediately noticed how smooth and quiet they are on my BMW X5 3.0l X-drive with adaptive drive, rear damper load level suspension and active steering. I drive my BMW like a BMW and I'm thoroughly pleased. The Mileage on this Boat anchor went up by 2.5mpg. I am not stroking my ego with my reference to BMW I drive a lot of rental cars (Infiniti, Lincoln, Cadi) and I still feel much safer and secure in my BMW, They are just better engineered.
Understand this is a highly sophisticated vehicle with an even more sophisticated suspension and AWD system. Dry pavement pretty good...I know the vehicle suspension and dynamic electronics of the vehicle helps immensely but overall it sticks nicely with either just me or 6 people in it. Wet pavement is fine as long as Im not trying to drive like a maniac. I notice some low speed slippage if Im whipping around corners but for the most part I have yet to get unsettled. As far as hydroplaning and driving through deep puddles quickly, they do a great job. I don't even notice the water. Speeds of 80mph in the pouring rain is not a problem, they do a great job of taking the water away. Once again this may be due to the fact that my truck is near 6000 pounds.
Snow & Ice. Snow Fine. Deep or Light Just Fine. Slush don't even notice it. Ice. Useless. I mean Useless. No Grip, all slide. It was just starting to sleet and I have never been more frightened in all my life. The X5 couldnt make heads or tails of what was going on. Once I stopped I immediately went home and ordered 4 Blizzaks. Not good on ice at all.
The tires are overall awesome. They are NEVER Rotated(Biggest Scam in History) and have served me well. They look to be at about Half Life right now. Tons of tread and not wavering. I am very very happy with them.

...Silent, smooth, responsive, good in wet and in snow...
I put these on my 1/2 Ton Chevy pickup and they are great. Silent, smooth, responsive, good in wet and snow. I get over 22 MPG on the highway in the winter and over 23 MPG in the summer at 65MPH on flat land. The tires barely show any wear at this point so I hope they last. I don't think I have ever been this impressed with a set of tires. Good job Bridgestone!

...Very good dry traction, acceptable traction in wet and snow conditions...
OEM tire on my 2017 Highlander. These tires give a comfortable ride with little noticeable road noise. Very good dry traction, acceptable traction in wet and snow conditions. After 21,000 miles noticeable tread wear probably will need to be changed by 30,000 but vehicle will be returned on lease before then.

I just returned from a 2500 mile trip from CA to Utah and Colorado and then back. I saw approximately 200 miles of blizzard and icy conditions on the way out, lots of in town snow/ice driving in Colorado, and another 100 miles of extremely snowy and icy conditions on the way home. These are the best all season tires I have ever used in the snow...
I purchased these to replace the stock dunlop Grand Trek's which were surprisingly good for an OE tire which I got 40K uneventful miles out of. This review compares these tires to the OE's and agaisnt similar tires I have had on other vehicles in the past, mainly the Continental Extremecontact DWS.
The Ecopias are the real deal. I have seen a 1mpg increase in city driving and a 2.5mpg increase on the highway. They are exceptionally quiet especially compared to the Grand Treks. They do thump a little harder over imperfections in the road but that is expected as they are a higher load rating tire. Being a low rolling resistance tire they do not corner as well as the OE's and they are a little bouncier, however the increased noise comfort and fuel economy more than make up for it.
Where these tires really shine is in inclement weather. These are the best all season tires I have ever used in the snow. While they are not as good as a full winter tire they handled the snow and ice with confidence. In the rain they are just as at home as on dry pavement.
If you are looking for a quiet capable and efficient tire, these are for you. Only time will tell how they stand up as the miles pile on but so far they are the quietest tire with the best all season snow performance of any tire I have ever used. The only car I have felt more confident in the snow in is my Subaru STi with Blizzak tires and that car is a veritable snowmobile with front and rear limited slip differentials and a locking center differential.

...dry and wet traction have been commendable and there have been no problems thus far...
So far, this tire has been great. Some minor road noise is noticeable, but it is very slight and is not a problem during highway cruising. Both dry and wet traction have been commendable and there have been no problems thus far. Seemed very stable driving in the pouring rain. Some light snow duty was handled easily. Only concern will be treadwear. And I haven't really noticed any increase in mpg. I would recommend this tire and would purchase again.

I only have about 1,000 miles on these tires so far, but I can say without a doubt that, of the three sets I've had on my car, these are the best. I'm coming off of a set of Yokohama Parada Spec-X that had good dry traction but were noisy, bad at cushioning impacts, and hydroplaned like crazy in the slightest bit of wet weather.
I wanted to wait until the winter to post a review, but I've actually experienced every condition so far except for deep snow since I put these tires on. I live in the New York City Metro area and commute heavily, so traffic and weather conditions can be as insane as they come.
On the whole, these tires are a pleasure to drive. Dry traction is excellent, wet traction is responsive and sturdy, and it handles light snow with no problems whatsoever. Road noise is pretty quiet (compared to the other tires I've had on this car, at least), and impacts are cushioned very nicely. Emergency responsiveness is very good as well. Don't have enough miles on them to rate treadwear, though.
Now, as far as the tire's claim of improved fuel consumption - I was more than a little skeptical that a tire could have any sort of impact on gas mileage, and I was right to have my doubts (in fact, I've actually seen my fuel efficiency go DOWN a little, if anything). 90% of my total driving is highways. Before these tires, I was averaging about 325 miles to the tank with predominantly highway driving and about 275 miles with mixed city/highway. Now my highway average is closer to 300 while my mixed average has remained unchanged.
All things considered, these tires are perfect for my needs. They're quiet, responsive, and stick to the road in all conditions. However, if you're buying them for improved fuel economy, you'll be disappointed (but really, that should be the last thing you concern yourself with when purchasing new tires). Would definitely purchase again and highly recommend.

...The tires are quiet on the highway, very respectable performance on rainy days, steering and cornering response are as good as the OEM tires if not better...
It would seem from reviews and reading I did before purchasing this tire that its performance varies greatly across size/load ratings. My purchase (235/65R17) are 108V XL rated with 50PSI max inflation - rated for 2205 lbs load rating. Other sizes are rated for as low as 1700lbs load rating at max 44psi. I drive these at 45PSI (as opposed to the 40psi the vehicle mfg recommends). My results have been stellar. 25,000 miles and only 1/32 wear thus far. Fuel economy is about 2mpg better than the Kumho Solus KL21 OEM tires (which are also considered a LRR tire) and about 5mpg better than my winter tires. I got 60,000 miles on the OEM Kumho tires - I don't see any reason I shouldn't get that or better from these tires based on the current wear. It took 10,000 miles for the tire injection mold nubbins to wear off. The tires are quiet on the highway, very respectable performance on rainy days, steering and cornering response are as good as the OEM tires if not better. People purchasing other size or rating versions of these tires, or running the tires at lower inflation pressures, may see different results.

...I got to drive on these and immediately noticed the improved comfort and the SILENCE! Oh, yeah! ... she said it was like driving on a cloud...
Husband researched, Wife approved!! The OEM tires on the wife's Volvo XC60 became unbearable with the road noise that progressively developed when the tires had about 50K mikes on them, so I started research on a replacement tire. The Volvo Forums had some XC60 owners post that they were happy with the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia so I pulled the trigger and ordered from TireRack. Wife was out of town when I had them installed from a TireRack approved shop. I got to drive on these and immediately noticed the improved comfort and the SILENCE! Oh, yeah!! So the wife comes back and takes a 200+ mile trip to visit her parents - and I get a call from her thanking me for the tires (I was fishing!) - she is 100% satisfied but said she was doing easily 20+ MPH over the speed limit because she said it was like "driving on a cloud." I cannot vouch for any MPG savings or longevity as they are new but I will report back at 20K. Thanks Bridgestone & TireRack!

...Definitely this is quite and comfort tire and I recommend for those who live at sunny states...
After putting 20,000 miles I think I can say about these tires. Definitely this is quite and comfort tire and I recommend for those who live at sunny states. Living at Northeast OH (experiencing last year winter, vortex, and winter storm last weekend), These tires perform terribly under wintry condition. I understand this is not winter tire but at least I expect it performs above average for tires on this price range. I am looking tires that can handle the unexpected situations (snow storm/sleet/down pouring rain) and yet sophisticate enough on dry and sunny condition

...They are smooth and incredibly quite on the highway...
I felt the difference with these tires as soon as I pulled out of tire shop. They are smooth and incredibly quite on the highway. Don't know about fuel economy improvement because with our type of driving is hard to keep track. I usually switch to a different set for winter, but I'm tempted to try these on the snow and ice next winter. If I do I will post an update. So far I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

I originally installed these tires on my Saturn Vue to replace the aged goodyears that were originally on there. 23,000 miles later these tires have barely shown any signs of wear. coupled with AWD they are phenomenal in the snow. all in all i would definately buy these tires again just based on the treadwear

This is an update. I previously reported results at 17,000 miles. The tread wear is currently around 47,000 and the depth of the tread is approximately 3/32. Not expected to reach 65,000 miles. The comfort level of the tires has decreased tremendously. They no longer feel secure, but are still quiet. I will replace them at 50,000 for safety reasons. No other problems encountered with these tires.
