The Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP (Zero Pressure) is Michelin's Streetable Track & Competition run-flat tire developed for Original Equipment use on Chevrolet Corvette C7 ZO6 & ZO7 sports cars. Designed to be suitable for the street along with faster circuit times and consistent performance on the track, Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP tires help these sports cars achieve their full potential in dry conditions.

WARNING: Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP radials meet DOT requirements; however, they are not recommended for driving in wet conditions where standing water is present and there is the risk of hydroplaning; drivers should drive cautiously at reduced speeds if they encounter these conditions. This is especially true of shaved or worn tires. And like other Streetable Track & Competition tires, these tires are not intended to be stored, serviced nor driven in near- or below freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP benefits from several generations of Michelin run-flat technology, which is especially efficient in enhancing race-tire performance characteristics. Michelin has turned the technology that enables a tire to run for a limited period without air pressure into an asset on the racetrack.

The Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP's tread molds Michelin's Bi-Compound technology into an asymmetric design. Massive outboard shoulders feature a tread rubber whose hardness has been specially designed to deliver maximum adherence and outstanding dry grip on curves, especially on tight corners.

Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP tires feature Michelin Variable Contact Patch 3.0, an innovation evolved from the Variable Contact Patch 2.0 technology integrated into Pilot Super Sport and Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires. Variable Contact Patch 3.0 maximizes the contact patch size and optimizes its footprint pressure so that more rubber remains in contact with the track when cornering, thereby ensuring superior grip in curves and tight corners.

The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wound polyamide cord that offers a lightweight, high-strength reinforcement above the steel belts to enhance high-speed durability, handling and wear. Michelin FAZ Technology (Filament At Zero degrees) winds the polyamide cord around the tire circumference, much the same way fishing line is wound onto fishing reels, to allow Michelin engineers to tune tension and strength. The polyamide is applied with variable tension between the shoulders and the center of the tire, and is tightened so firmly that it literally locks the tire structure into a practically inelastic belt. As a result, the tire's footprint remains constant and centrifugal force is effectively controlled, even at very high speeds.

Michelin's Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP features a rayon casing that combines ride comfort with responsive handling. Its bead region is 10% wider than that of traditional sports tires and is strengthened with a high modulus rubber compound that increases the tire's lateral stiffness and delivers sporty responsiveness, as well as precision steering.

A special mold tooling process has led to the development of Michelin Premium Touch Technology, a process that has made it possible to create more contrast on sections of the outer sidewall using micro-geometry techniques that absorb light. The geometry of the texture permits variable contrast to create shades of black that have the feel of velvet.

NOTE: Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP tires cannot be mixed with Pilot Sport Cup, Pilot Sport Cup + (Plus), Pilot Sport Cup N-Spec or Pilot Sport Cup ZP run-flat tires.

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP Reviews

Drivers find the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP delivers outstanding dry traction, with enthusiasts praising "magical" grip, precise turn-in, and consistent performance during track days, autocross, and HPDE events. Many report achieving 1.2+ lateral Gs and improved lap times, though proper heat management (33-37 psi hot) and alignment are critical for optimal results. Wet traction receives mixed feedback, with some noting hydroplaning risks and reduced confidence in rain or cool temps (<50 degF). Treadwear concerns are common, with most users getting 4-12 track days or 5,000-13,000 street miles before cords show, though this is expected for extreme-performance tires. Track-focused buyers accept the tradeoffs, emphasizing its role as a street-legal track tool rather than a daily driver.

  • 56 positive
  • 0 negative

Customers overwhelmingly praise the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP's exceptional dry traction, with many scoring 9-10 for track-focused performance. Reviews highlight "limitless" grip, precise cornering, and rapid heat cycling, delivering confidence during aggressive acceleration, braking, and high-G maneuvers. Enthusiasts note predictable behavior at the limit, with several reporting consistent lap times even as tread wears. While optimized for warm conditions, drivers emphasize quick warm-up times and linear feedback, making them a top choice for HPDE, autocross, and spirited track use.

...Very good dry traction.

1. Very good dry traction.
2. Very fast steering response due to tiff side wall. Zero Pressure construction.
3. Linear traction fall off characteristic at the limit.
4. Endures heat very well and grip fall off is linear. Based on 20minutes track session with 1670kg weight car.
5. Very good steering feed back.
6. As you can imagine, you do not purchase this type of tire for mileage.

I absolutely adore these tires. They came as standard equipment on the C7Z06/Z07. I use my car strictly for track events (HPDE, not racing) and as long as you keep them warm and in their ideal pressure range (36PSI hot for my 2015 car with stock wheels), they offer incredible stick and terrific steering and braking feel. You do have to get them warm. When they are cold or in street use, they can get very slippery versus the power on the Z06 and it will scare you in a hurry. If you let them get too hot (which is usually when you let them climb above ideal pressure), then they start to feel greasy. The good news is that when they're too hot, you can feel the difference but it's not dangerous - they don't just go shooting out from under you. You either pick up understeer or feel squirrely under heavy braking. The Corvette shows you individual tire pressures, so it's relatively easy to then check and see if they're too hot / too high pressure. When I see that, I pull into the pits and bleed them back down to my desired 36PSI and within a lap they are back to super sticky and confident. Tire Rack will heat cycle them for you before shipping, which I think is also money well spent. I'm not sure I'd choose them for a street tire. They are super sticky, so they pick up every pebble on the road and throw it into your wheel wells, making them very noisy. They're also scary when cold or wet, at least verus 650 lb/ft in the C7Z. Really the only time I have this car on the street is taking it for service, so other than that I can't say enough good things about the Sport Cup 2.

...Very little traction on wet pavement...

These tires are made for the track, but can be driven daily on the open road. They stick like glue when hot on dry pavement. Very little traction on wet pavement. Quite pleased with these tires on cornering and rapid acceleration. Best tires for aggressive driving.

...They have good wet weather traction unless under heavy throttle but hydroplane when rain is heavy on poorly drained roads...

OEM tires for ZTK package. Was pleasantly surprised with comfort and quietness of these tires even compared to Pilot Sport Zero Pressure. As a result when I replaced the original tires these were the choice. I do some track driving. They have good wet weather traction unless under heavy throttle but hydroplane when rain is heavy on poorly drained roads. They’re worth the trade-off!

This tire is amazing for summer driving or track driving. They are a bit noise on the road and not very friendly in the rain. The tread wear is excellent!!! The grip is insanely good for a street tire.

Customers report dissatisfaction with treadwear, noting rapid wear even within intended track use. Multiple reviews scoring 6 and below highlight cords showing after 5,000 miles, premature wear during HPDE events, and needing replacement after 7,000 street miles. While some accept short lifespan as trade-off for dry grip, many cite excessive wear rates as unacceptable for the price.

...Its the tread wear that it most concerning about this tire, as opposed to the factory tire for this vehicle... Pick your poison. Sticky track tires or concern for tread wear...

tire is not the factory tire for this vehicle. But the grip and handling during auto cross, drag racing and rally running has been good. Its the tread wear that it most concerning about this tire, as opposed to the factory tire for this vehicle. We take some road trips in the vehicle but enjoy auto cross a couple times per season and running the U.S. Mile in Texas.

Pick your poison. Sticky track tires or concern for tread wear. The price for the factory tire and the sup series tires are about dead even
