Looking to drop some weight from the MINI and in need of a new battery to replace the OEM BMW by Exide option, I went with this over the recommended Group 48 AGM which weighed significantly more than what was in the car. Ended up saving 15lbs and gaining cranking power but losing reserve capacity, which I accepted as a reality of the exercise. Installation was straightforward and simple with the included mounting kit which was is an additional cost with other retailers (thanks TireRack). Should my thoughts change, I’ll update this review but so far, aces.
These batteries are rated to last about two years. I am replacing mine after about 5 years, so they do well on that front. My standard car battery weight is about 80 pounds and with a 21 pound battery I can definitely feel the difference in the balance. The mounting kit will need some work to make it fit in the standard location as the battery itself is much smaller than stock. Terminals stay clean of corrosion and of the three I have purchased, none have shown any sign of leaks or damage.
Well, I needed a replacement battery for my 2011 BMW E90 M3. Why not try a light weight performance battery for less than OEM. The install was a bit tricky. It isn't an easy swap in 15 mins like on our Hondas. Had my mechanic friend help with the removal and install. He had to drill somewhere in the battery bay in order to install one of the included brackets that holds the battery in place. You'll be surprised how small the battery is compared the OEM.
