Data Engineer II

Responsibilities

Develops high performance distributed data warehouse, distributed analytic systems and cloud architecture under general supervision
Develops, tests and debugs batch and streaming, data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to populate databases and object stores from multiple disparate data sources; provides recommendations to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality under general supervision
Analyzes data calculations through data integration tools and scripting languages
Implements data quality metrics, standards, guidelines; automates data quality checks/routines as part of data processing frameworks; validates flow of information
Partners in ensuring that any Data Warehousing and Big Data systems meet business requirements and industry practices; including but not limited to, automation of system builds, security requirements, performance requirements and logging/monitoring requirements
Troubleshoots data and performance related issues; implements adjustments, documents root cause and corrective measure; provides recommendations to stakeholders
Develops technical specifications and participates with peers in design and code review sessions
Employ a variety of scripting languages and tools to integrate data from multiple disparate data sources
Stays current on the latest industry technologies, trends and strategies
Assists employees, vendors or other customers by answering questions related to Data Warehousing and Big Data processes, procedures and services
Completes work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field required
This position requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience
Ability and drive to assist end users as production issues arise
Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way, including a working knowledge of complex data visualization
Analytical and problem solving skills
Experience using statistical computer languages (Python, SQL) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
Working knowledge of office software, such as Microsoft Office
Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds

Vacation Days and Holidays

You will accrue PTO on the last day of each month, for a total of sixteen (16) days per calendar year. Additional days are earned after four years of full-time service per the policy outlined in our employee handbook (maximum 26 days).

You will receive one (1) business day of regular pay for each holiday for which the company closes. The company currently closes for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Insurance

You will be eligible for health insurance coverage on the first day following the completion of your first thirty (30) days of full-time employment.

Tire Rack also offers voluntary dental, vision, life and AD&D, and disability benefits, which you will be eligible to participate in after thirty (30) days of full-time employment.

401(k) Plan

You will also be eligible to participate in the company's 401(k) plan upon reaching age 21 and completing 1,000 hours of service within the 12-month time-period following your date of hire. Your entry date will be the first day of the month coinciding with or next following the date you satisfy both the age 21 and the hours-of-service eligibility requirements. The company will contribute $1.00 in your name for each $1.00 that you contribute to the Plan, up to a maximum of 6% of the employee's eligible compensation. The company's contribution fully vests after three years of full-time employment.
