The Blizzak LM005 is Bridgestone's Performance Winter/Snow tire designed for the drivers of sports cars, sporty coupes, performance sedans, and CUVs looking to maintain their vehicle's appearance, handling, and mobility during the winter months by providing optimum traction on dry, wet and snow-covered roads.

The Blizzak LM005 features an advanced rubber compound using Bridgestone's high-silica NanoPro-Tech™ technology, molded into a directional pattern, including 2D and 3D sipes for excellent surface adhesion and optimum dry grip and braking traction. The sipe configuration also provides for improved acceleration, shorter stopping distance, and increased lateral stability when cornering in various wet and wintry conditions. Strong lateral voids enhance the evacuation of water for hydroplaning resistance, while zig-zag grooves trap snow and provide biting edges for additional winter grip.

The tire's internal structure includes a single-ply polyester casing, two steel belts, and a nylon reinforcement for increased steering response & high-speed capability.

Blizzak LM005 winter tires meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

To help drivers know when it's time to replace their winter tires, Bridgestone molds Winter Wear Indicators (also known as Snow Platforms) into the Blizzak LM005's main tread grooves. The Snow Platforms identify when winter traction will be reduced due to the tire's tread wearing down to the point where the remaining depth becomes less effective at digging through snow, gripping icy roads or coping with slushy conditions.

Install Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 tires in sets of four only.

Due to the traction capabilities of the Blizzak LM005, Bridgestone recommends using Blizzak LM005 tires in sets of four to provide the best handling characteristics and tire performance.

Feedback consistently shows the Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 delivers excellent winter traction, with snow and deep snow performance scoring 9-10 consistently. Ice traction earns mostly 7-10 ratings, though a few users report challenges on sheer ice. Wet traction and hydroplaning resistance are strong (7-10), while dry handling receives praise for stability and responsiveness (7-10). Comfort and noise levels are generally well-regarded (7-10), with some noting minor road noise. Treadwear scores vary widely (0-10), with multiple users citing premature wear as a concern. Winter-focused drivers highlight its confidence-inspiring grip, but tread longevity may disappoint those expecting extended seasonal use.

...Initially, they delivered everything I expected from a premium winter tire - excellent traction on snow and ice, a smooth and quiet ride, and solid handling in wet and slushy conditions...

I am base in Utah and do a lot of driving to ski - early mornings and in the evenings - generally when road conditions are not ideal. I had high hopes for the Bridgestone Blizzak tires when I first bought them. Initially, they delivered everything I expected from a premium winter tire — excellent traction on snow and ice, a smooth and quiet ride, and solid handling in wet and slushy conditions. I felt confident driving in harsh winter weather, and they performed exceptionally well for the first couple of months.

However, after just around 5,000 miles, I noticed a significant decline in performance. The tread wore down much faster than I anticipated, and the grip on snow and ice wasn’t nearly as reliable as it was initially.

If you’re looking for short-term winter performance, the Blizzaks are fantastic. But if durability and longevity are important, you might want to explore other options. I wish they had lasted longer because they performed so well at the start, but the rapid wear makes them hard to justify for the cost.

...Without these tires my Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody would be parked during icy and snowy weather, but not anymore!...

I am extremely happy with the winter performance of the Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 285/40R20 tires which are mounted on aftermarket 20 x 10.5 wheels with a -9 mm offset. Without these tires my Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody would be parked during icy and snowy weather, but not anymore!

My comparison is the night-and-day difference in performance between these Blizzaks and the 305/35R20 Pirelli P Zero or Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 All Seasons which were or are currently mounted on the OEM 20 x 11.0 wheels.

Best winter tire I have owned. We spend much of the winter in Tahoe at 6,800 ft elevation and we get a lot of snow most winters. The Blizzak is the best winter tire I have had including Pirelli Scorpions, Goodyear ICE and Michelin Pilot Alpin 5. The tire loves deep snow around the house as well as light snow on the freeway in and out of town. Ice, it does as well, or better, than the others (Scorpion was an excellent ice tire) tires I have had.

Dry weather, traction is good but I take it easier on them as I know they are not going to wear as well and I change them out every year in the fall and spring. Overall, highly recommend this tire for anyone in snow country. I only wish they made this tire for my Cayenne Turbo.

...But on dry, cold conditions, it was as good as the summer tires that came with the car. Slightly noisier, but great performance accelerating, cornering, and braking.

I ended up trading the car a few weeks after replacing the tires so I have limited experience with them, and none in snow/ice. But in dry, cold conditions, it was as good as the summer tires that came with the car. Slightly noisier, but great performance accelerating, cornering, and braking.

Best operated with traction control on all the time, but overall a great option for those who need a snow tire but don’t want to sacrifice their driving experience.

...So far, after just 500 miles, I'm not finding anything about these tires on the Lexus to disappoint... the tires are smooth, stable and perform well with ice and snow.

I have a lot of experience with Blizzaks on several vehicles, so when I got this Lexus NX 350h AWD recently I had no doubt I would have Blizzaks installed for winter driving. So far, after just 500 miles, I'm not finding anything about these tires on the Lexus to disappoint. Will update later with more miles driven, but so far, the tires are smooth, stable and perform well with ice and snow.

...The standard 245/45R19 all season have a bit more rubber and thus a smoother ride but less performance.

Still need to drive them for longer and more to know for sure. They are not technically rated for my vehicle but they hand better on it due to less rubber. The standard 245/45R19 all season have a bit more rubber and thus a smoother ride but less performance.

...They were more than acceptable in the snow for a low profile 255 width tire, but the treadwear is horrible. I blew through close to half the tread with less than 5K miles of city/hwy driving.

I had been happily running Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds for years on a M3 and a few RS4s, and always got at least 3 winter seasons of use. They were no longer available so I tried these. They were more than acceptable in the snow for a low profile 255 width tire, but the treadwear is horrible. I blew through close to half the tread with less than 5K miles of city/hwy driving. I mounted them this season on a 2021 S4 and they are probably the loudest tires I've ever had. I will be trashing them after this season..

These tires wore down way too quickly, compared to 4 other sets (Michelin X Ice and Bridgestone Blizzak) I have had over the past 15 years. The front tire shoulders wore down to bald after just over 5,000 miles. Granted, this is my first EV, so it''s about 200 lbs heavier than the heaviest car I have owned. This is also the first set of "performance" winter tires I have had. The other winter tires all fared well after at least 5 winters.

However, I have not changed my driving style much over the past 15 years of driving in New England. If anything, I am slowing down a lot as I get older. I would assume that "performance" winter tires would not wear any faster than regular winter tires. If anything, they should wear slower because they are a less soft compound. This is only a sample size of 1 set, but the tire wear is atrocious. It seems like the other reviewer with the A6 Allroad found similarly quick wear.
