Highway All-Season tires are for drivers who want a combination of pleasant on-road characteristics, long wear and all-season versatility, including traction in light snow. Highway All-Season tires branded with the M+S symbol are often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on 2WD and 4WD, light- and medium-duty vans, trucks and pickups, as well as crossover and sport utility vehicles.
O.E. Highway All-Season tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle's original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires' performance category and specifications.

Feedback analysis shows the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400 delivers strong dry traction (scores 7-10) and a comfortable ride, with many customers praising its smooth handling on highways. However, treadwear receives mixed feedback, with numerous reports of rapid wear and lower-than-expected tread life. Winter traction and wet performance raise concerns, as scores frequently dip below 5, highlighting limitations in snowy or rainy conditions. While the tire excels in its intended all-season highway role for dry stability and comfort, its weaker winter/wet grip and inconsistent tread durability may disappoint drivers prioritizing year-round versatility or long-term value.

...Only complaint is that the soft sidewalls, which are good for snow, are not so hot for hard cornering in the dry...
Living in NYC and keeping the car out of potholes is the main concern for these tires. However, reading through the posts here, I would have to disagree with a lot of the negative feedback.
Due to the wheel size of tire (21"), I have limited replacement options. I have driven through snow with this tire.......no complaints. Every once in a while I would get a small skid, but nothing that is out of the ordinary. Ride quality is average, but what would you expect with 21" inch wheels? Dry and rain are consistently good and the tire appearance is top-notch. I ran over a very large bolt and punctured the tire, had it filled, and remains at the same level for 5000 miles since repair. Tread wear is MINIMAL after 25,000 miles and I drive this V8 very spirited.
Given the choices of 265-45R-21, I will probably purchase next set with this brand.
No problem with cracking or appearance.

...The Bridgestones are OE on this car. Since installing the Toyos, the sharpness and grip has really gone down... The best attribute of these ties are the bite when braking hard. Several times when abruptly braking and emergency swerving, the ABS and stability control never even had to kick in because the tires just stuck...
I recently replaced these tires with a set of Toyo Vesado CUV tires and I am starting to regret it. The CX-9 is known to be a good handler, for its vehicle class at least, and I can see now how much of that is due to the tires. The Bridgestones are OE on this car. Since installing the Toyos, the sharpness and grip has really gone down. My wife drives this car just as much as I do and the first thing she said when leaving the tire shop was that the car handles more like a truck now and less sporty. I chose the Toyos thinking the wife would enjoy a smoother and quieter ride as the Bridgestones are a tad loud. It is not bad or wearing at all, but it is definitely noticeable. The improvement in comfort is not even close to the loss of performance though. I did not realize are good the Bridgestones were until now. At more than 60K miles, the tread was not even to the wear bars yet, but I live In Florida and the rainy season is coming so I decided to go ahead and replace them because I could feel a loss of hydroplaning resistance with the shallow tread. A good amount of cornering grip was lost too even in the dry so that is another knock against the Bridgestones. For such a soft tire, I am amazed at how long they lasted. I corner aggressively enough that the tires squeal too so these things were not babied. The best attribute of these ties are the bite when braking hard. Several times when abruptly braking and emergency swerving, the ABS and stability control never even had to kick in because the tires just stuck. Mind you this was not full on braking though. No street tire is that sticky. Before the tread worn down, I still felt confident enough to cruise at 80 mph on tthe interstate even in the worst rain storms Florida has to offer short of a tropical storm. When it is time to change the tires again, I am going back to the Bridgestones. I can not comment on snow and ice performance, but the grip was still good at near freezing temps too.

Customers praise the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400's smooth ride and low noise levels, with many scoring ride comfort 9s and 10s. While most ratings are positive (7-10), a few note occasional firmness, but overall, it delivers excellent comfort for highway-focused all-season driving.

...They're quiet, ride well, and are lasting longer than I was expecting - given the sorry reviews...
Thumbs up. On my Lexus 450h(ybrid), at 20K miles (in on year) the tires still have 7/32" left. They're quiet, ride well, and are lasting longer than I was expecting - given the sorry reviews. They performed admirably during last winter's extreme low temperatures and snow. Full-throttle starts in rain (295HP AWD) results in traction-control activation. I haven't experienced any hydroplaning nor have I needed to panic stop - so using the 110 ranking above is merely my unscientific comparison against the crappy tires on my truck and the exceedingly performance-oriented summer tires on my German roadster. These tires perform well, are lasting longer than I had been led to believe, and are quiet enough to be unnoticed in my exceptionally-quiet car. I'll consider them against whatever is the "hot new tire" as replacements in another 20K+ miles. Thumbs up.

...The tires are fairly quiet and we've gotten extremely good milage from them...
These tires are OE equipment on my wife's SUV. She drives very carefully. On the occasions that I drive her vehicle, I've noted that these are not for performance driving but then again, I wouldn't pick an SUV for hot lapping anyway. The tires are fairly quite and we've gotten extremely good milage from them. I check inflation pressure once a week and rotate the tires regularly. At 58K miles they have slightly less than half the original tread depth and are not close to the tread wear bars. Most of the reviews on this tire are pretty bad, but if the driver is fairly mellow and doesn't have to deal with much ice or snow, I think they have delivered very good service.

...The first 25,000 miles were fine, but noise and ride comfort become an issue after that, and one of them developed a vibration at highway speeds...
These were OEM on my wife's MDX. I was surprised to see the overall low ratings for this tire. Although they weren't stellar, they weren't too bad. The first 25,000 miles or so were fine, but noise and ride comfort become an issue after that, and one of them developed a vibration at highway speeds. Otherwise, performance and tread life were adequate. We had no issues in wet conditions, and very little snow experience, but they seemed fine in light snow.

Numerous customers rate wet traction between 0-6, reporting sliding and hydroplaning. Mediocre wet performance and disappointing hydroplaning resistance make this all-season tire unacceptable for confident wet weather driving.

This tire offers zero traction on wet & snow even when brand new, DANGEROUS!! This tire hydroplanes terribly in wet conditions and it feels like you are on a snowboard in snow!!!...
This tire came as OEM on my 2008 Toyota Highlander Sport AWD in P245/55R19. This is overall the WORST tire I have ever experienced. Bridgestone produced this tire in P245/55R19 for one purpose only, as an OEM tire to offer car buyers a very smooth & quiet test drive. Once the consumer buys the vehicle you are stuck with the tires. This tire offers zero traction on wet & snow even when brand new, DANGEROUS!! This tire hydroplanes terribly in wet conditions and it feels like you are on a snowboard in snow!!! Treadwear is also terrible. And the worst part, when the consumer has to buy replacement tires in P245/55R19 there are very few replacement options available in this new and unusual size, none of which are good choices!! This tire is only usable in southern climates with year around warm & dry weather. If you live where you get rain all year long and snow in the winter DO NOT BUY THIS TIRE!!!!

Winter traction receives concerning scores between 0-5, with customers reporting slippery conditions in snow and ice. Many note loss of control and unstable handling, labeling performance as sketchy despite its all-season designation.

...Handling and traction is fine on dry roads and okay on wet roads but on snow and ice it is terrible. I would not recommend this tire for any driving below freezing because it is just too dangerous.
Tires were new when I bought the car, I put a lot of highway miles on it and the tires wore out quickly so I'm disappointed with the treadwear. Handling and traction is fine on dry roads and okay on wet roads but on snow and ice it is terrible. I would not recommend this tire for any driving below freezing because it is just too dangerous.

Treadwear ratings reveal widespread dissatisfaction, with many scores between 0-5 citing rapid wear, premature replacement, and disappointing mileage. While some customers give 9s and 10s, frequent mentions of excessive wear and worn-down tread raise concerns for a highway all-season tire's expected durability.

...They wore down to the wear bars after only 17000 miles and I had had them rotated !! This should not happen in this day and age...
Absolute garbage. These were the OEM tires for the car. They wore down to the wear bars after only 17000 miles and I had had them rotated !! This should not happen in this day and age. They are also extremely noisy on the highway. I didn't even try to get prorated new ones because I didn't want to put this junk back on my car. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your hard earned money on these tires.

...These are by far the worst tires for winter driving I have ever had. The tires have been replaced with the Firestone Destination LE2 and it is a night and day difference.
We bought our Highlander so we could have an AWD vehicle. It came with these tires. After sliding around corners and sliding way too long to stop in snowy conditions, I checked out the reviews on this site. I agree that these tires are not all-season. I grew up in the Upper Midwest (SD and NE) so I have lots of experience in winter driving. These are by far the worst tires for winter driving I have ever had. The tires have been replaced with the Firestone Destination LE2 and it is a night and day difference.
