The Dueler H/L Alenza with UNI-T and/or UNI-T AQII technology is Bridgestone's Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season light truck tire developed for the drivers of premium crossover and sport utility vehicles, as well as light duty pickup trucks. The Dueler H/L Alenza is designed to provide elegance with an edge, as well as year-round traction, even in light snow.
While all Dueler H/L Alenza sizes feature Bridgestone's UNI-T technology to take tire behavior to a higher level by increasing comfort and control, in order to further enhance wet traction over the life of the tire select sizes also have Bridgestone's UNI-T AQII technology which features dual layer tread compounds to resist the normal tread rubber hardening that results from the heat encountered during thousands of miles of use. As the tire wears, the special underlying high-grip rubber is exposed, helping offset the effects of heat and wear on wet traction. The result is that UNI-T AQ II technology helps handle wet road conditions even as the tire wears over the years.
The symmetric tread pattern of the Dueler H/L Alenza has been ride and noise tuned to enhance comfort. Large shoulder blocks and a continuous center rib boost responsiveness and highway stability, while wide circumferential grooves, lateral notches and sipes help increase stormy weather traction. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts (reinforced with spirally wound nylon for H-, V- and W-speed rated sizes) to provide support under the tread area, while polyester cords stabilize the sidewalls and enhance ride quality.
Note: While Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season light truck tires offer all-season versatility including traction in light snow, tire sizes featuring extremely wide tread widths may limit the traction this type of tire can provide in deep snow.
*Specific sizes featuring UNI-T or UNI-T AQII technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Sooner or Later You'll Own Generals - Maybe Now is the Time (04:02)
If you ask people about General tires, many will remember the decades-old slogan "sooner or later you'll own Generals." General recently introduced the Grabber HTS as the newest member of the Grabber family of SUV and pick-up/light truck tires, focusing on all-season traction and ride quality for drivers who never need to venture off paved roads and highways. To gain a better understanding of how well the new General Grabber HTS fits with today's SUVs, we did some comparing. Maybe now is the time.
Feedback consistently shows the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza delivers a plush ride quality and noise reduction, with many customers scoring comfort 9-10. Treadwear earns praise for impressive tread life, with ratings often 8-10. Winter traction receives positive feedback (7-8 range) for confident grip in light snow, though some note mixed results in deeper snow or ice. Wet traction is highlighted as excellent (8-10 scores) with strong hydroplaning resistance. Dry performance stands out as a strength, with near-perfect scores for responsive handling and stability. Designed for crossover/SUV touring, it excels in everyday all-season use, balancing comfort and capability, though severe winter conditions may reveal limitations.

...However, when on wet pavement the tires stick like glue...
Just replaced my Goodyear factory tires (got 35K out of them) with the Bridgestone Alenzas (235/55/18). Had them in play for the last two months in what has been Chicago's 9th worst winter. Lots of snow and ice. Observations - on dry pavement performance/handling equal to or slightly better than the OE Goodyear Tires. Mileage about the same - maybe slightly better. However, when on wet pavement the tires stick like glue. In snow up to 10" the RX400h didn't even hesitate - just went right on through. Got out of my driveway after the plows put more snow on it that the weather without a loss of traction. Braking and acceleration were as close to normal as you could reasonably expect in snow. On ice - I actually had some traction. In a word - terrific. No regrets.

...I now have a quiet ride that provides outstanding traction and tire wear...
Approaching one year of driving in snow, ice, rain, and heat...what a great tire.
These tires replaced Goodyear Eagles which were like trying to steer a noisey sled.
I now have a quiet ride that provides outstanding traction and tire wear. The tires are pricey, but worth the price so far. One of the best tires Ive owned !

...These tires stick to the pavement like glue and refuse to hydroplane, even when we received between 5 and 6 inches of rain during two successive days about a month ago...
This is my second report on these tires installed on my wifes 2004 Lexus RX330 all-wheel-drive SUV in mid-February 2007. Now with more than 20,000 miles on these tires, they still look and perform as if they were only a month old. Their wet-weather performance is top-notch and their 65,000-mile treadwear warranty is strong as well. These tires stick to the pavement like glue and refuse to hydroplane, even when we received between 5 and 6 inches of rain during two successive days about a month ago. The ride is very comfortable, the road noise is well within our tolerance levels, and the treadwear is really holding up as advertised. To maximize your treadlife with this tire, Ive found that it needs to be maintained at about 36 to 37 psi year-round so check your tire pressures every week and adjust accordingly. That (along with staying off curbs and out of potholes) is the secret to getting a long life out of any decent tire. Im hoping that we receive some decent snowfall here in central North Carolina during the coming winter months so I can really put this tire to the test. In last winters very light and infrequent snow here, the tire wasnt really challenged and never had even a hint of a problem. Ill report again on these Alenzas in another 20,000 miles or so.

...Lots of snow and cold temperatures in my neck of the woods; these tires inspire confidence in any weather...
Bought these to replace the OEM Goodyear Eagles. The Goodyear's were on for 30,000 miles, but they should have been replaced at 20,000. The Bridgestones are far superior in almost every aspect. Perhaps the softer rubber on the Goodyear's may have made the SUV a little stickier on a racetrack, but I don't drive on one. I have never noticed that the Bridgestones were lacking grip on any surface. Lots of snow and cold temperatures in my neck of the woods; these tires inspire confidence in any weather. If I had to say anything negative, they might be a tad louder than the Goodyears, but well within the level of acceptability. After 68,000 miles on them, it's time for a new set. You bet I'll get them again!

...Amazing grip and stability in corners...
OK, I just drove home on my new Alenzas. And, its a nice warm sunny day here in Illinois. So, I havent been able to test them out in adverse conditions yet. However - based upon the 5 miles I just put on them, I can say that these tires make an incredible difference. I had almost 60,000 miles on the OEM Continental ContiTracs, which hung in there pretty well, but I can truly say that with the Alenzas, my Escape drives like it just came off the showroom floor! Amazing grip and stability in corners. Bumps, edges and manhole covers - it was like they werent even there. Sound - there really was none - like driving on cotton or something. They simply glide! Price-wise, these were up there a ways - a lot more than I have ever spent on tires (just shy of $800, including 65K miles lifetime road hazard repair/tire replacement and the other misc fees)- but I think they are worth every penny. I cannot wait to see how they do in rain and snow. If you have the dough - I would suggest that you seriously consider investing in the Alenzas. Nicely done, Bridgestone! Peace out.

...I have put them to the test on dry pavement... and have found they grab the roadbetter than the oem tires on my vehicle...
So far these tires have met my expectations for traction. I have put them to the test on dry pavement and wet pavement and have found they grab the road bettet than the oem tires on my vehicle. If these tires last for the long term with minimal faults, I will definitely buy these tires again.

...WET AND DRY TRACTION ARE AMAZING AND ROAD NOISE IS NON EXISTING...
I HAVE PURCHASED BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/L ALENZA FOR TWO VEHICLES (BOTH OF WHICH I DRIVE LIKE I STOLE THEM) AND AFTER 38753 MILES ON ONE AND 52800 MILES ON ANOTHER THERE IS STILL 9/32NDS AND 7/32NDS OF TREAD RESPECTIVELY. I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS TIRE. WET AND DRY TRACTION ARE AMAZING AND ROAD NOISE IS NON EXISTING. I HAVE HAD THE MICHELIN LTX AND THE GOODYEAR INTEGRITY ON THESE VEHICLES AND THE DIFFERENCE IS NIGHT AND DAY. BRIDGESTONE SURE GOT THIS ONE RIGHT!!

...I drive highway and city miles and the comfort and handling is great in both situations... These HL's also have great ride.
This tire is the best tire I have ever bought. I drive highway and city miles and the comfort and handling is great in both situations. I am buying a set of custom rims and I will buy a set of 17" HL's for the rims. These HL's also have great ride.

Very satisfied. Haven't experienced any winter conditions yet, but I expect the tires will be as good on snow and ice as the are in rain and dry conditions. A little noisier that expected, but very comfortable ride. Way better than original tires.

...smooth and quiet ride. It is as quiet now as it was brand new...
Best tire I've owned. Wear rating was 65,000 and with 77,000 miles and counting, it looks like they will go another 10,000 or perhaps 20,000 miles before replacement is necessary. Best part however is the smooth and quiet ride. It is as quiet now as it was brand new. Very impressive tire.

...My neighbor purchased the Silent Armors and all 4 tires were nearly worn out at 50,000 miles. My Alenza's have 60,000 miles and are approx half worn based on the measurements at my last rotation...
These tires have far exceeded my expectations. The guys at Firestone talked these tires up pretty good so I had high expectations going in. I did all my homework and had it narrowed down to the Alenza's or Good Year Silent Armor. My neighbor purchased the Silent Armors and all 4 tires were nearly worn out at 50,000 miles. My Alenza's have 60,000 miles and are approx half worn based on the measurements at my last rotation. Rotate them every 10,000 and drive them 70,000+ safely! I recommend these tires to everyone I know who is tire shopping. Buy the Alenza's and you too will want to share your success with Tire Rack shoppers.

I have owned several large SUV's over the past 10 years and have never gotten more than 50,000 miles on a set of tires. These still had 7/32 of tread left at 87,000 mi and would have gone past 100,000 if I had not picked up a nail that caused me to replace all four so I have even tire size...
I absolutely love these tires. I have owned several large SUV's over the past 10 years and have never gotten more than 50,000 miles on a set of tires. These still had 7/32 of tread left at 87,000 mi and would have gone past 100,000 if I had not picked up a nail that caused me to replace all four so I have even tire size. Needles to say, I purchased another set of Bridgestone Dueler Alenzas. My drive home from the installer was dream as I had forgotten how great new tires feel.

This was OEM tire when I purchased vehicle. I pull a 6000lb performance boat and wave runners in the summer. These tires have 80000 miles and still are quiet as the day I bought the truck. Tires were rotated every 6000 miles. Longest lasting tire I have ever had. These will make it to 900000 and possibly 100000 miles. I will definately buy the same kind again. Bridgestone ROCKS!!!!
