The Potenza RE92A is Bridgestone's High Performance All-Season tire that became popular because of its extensive use as Original Equipment on sports cars, sporty coupes and performance sedans. The Potenza RE92A is designed to combine a smooth quiet ride, predictable handling and all-season traction, even in light snow.

The Potenza RE92A molds an all-season tread compound into a computer-enhanced symmetric tread design to minimize tread noise while interlocking triangulated tread blocks and circumferential tread grooves provide traction in dry, wet and wintry conditions.

The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon that stabilizes the tread area and enhances handling and high-speed capability. The Potenza RE92A radial's polyester cord body helps deliver a smooth ride along with predictable handling.

Customers Say

Feedback patterns show the Bridgestone Potenza RE92A delivers excellent dry traction (scores 7-10 dominate) with responsive handling, aligning well with its high-performance all-season intent. Wet traction receives mixed results, with hydroplaning resistance and wet grip often scoring 4-6, prompting some drivers to note reduced confidence in heavy rain. Ride comfort earns consistent praise (6-9 range) for smoothness, though a few mention moderate road noise. Treadwear raises concerns, with many ratings in the 0-5 range indicating faster wear than expected for an all-season tire. While dry performance and comfort satisfy most users, wet limitations and durability issues suggest this tire may struggle in demanding conditions.

I have had the 2008 WRX since Febuary 2008. The tires have been great. They grip well. In all conditions. I was doing about 140 mph on the highway the other day and while passing cars they gripped extremely well. They do well in performance driving while going on winedy roads. Good tires...

...When on dry watch out these tires hug the road and corner at speeds I thought were not possible in an outback...

Best set of tires I have ever owned. Got them when I bought my new outback. When the road is dry watch out these tires hug the road and corner at speeds I thought were not possible in an outback. Off road in grass and mud again no issues. Like all tires it depends how YOU drive on ice and snow. Keep the tranny in 3rd and go 40-45 and these tires will plow through anything. Drive crazy and ned up in a ditch with this or any tire for that matter. The tires can be a little loud at times like in the summer when it is hot and you are taking turns. I however kinda like that squeel. I just flet I had to post a comment since I have never gotten this many miles on a set of tires. Yes I have had Yoko's and Michi's before on other cars. I just got a new set today- same tire and hopefully the same results. Buy these tires you won't regret it!!!!!!!!!!!

...Our 6 cyl. Outback is a big, heavy car - not performance oriented, and we get a comfortable, confident, quiet ride...

Im pretty sure the problems reviewers are having with this tire is that they are OEM. Look at reviews for other OEM tires, and (at least the ones Ive had) get terrible reviews. The problem is that nobody ever comes back to say how their NEXT tire performs.

These tires have worked nicely on our Outback. I live in Oregon and get plenty of rain. Ive had excellent results on our trips to the mountain for snowshoeing. Our 6 cyl. Outback is a big, heavy car - not performance oriented, and we get a comfortable, confident, quiet ride.

I have the oem tires of my last 2 new cars sitting in the attic because I couldnt stand them. I plan to use these up.

...The only complaints I have is that they have some road noise that has increased with the miles, they squeal in tight turns on hot pavement, and the ride is not the smoothest (I like the feel of the road though)...

This tire came OEM on the vehicle that I purchased new. I have owned over 20 vehicles and I have replaced tires on 1/4 of those. I can honestly say I have never had a better tire on any vehicle. I have driven it in dry, rain, snow, ice and on pavement, gravel, grass, and dirt. It has handled everything without a slip. I had to try very hard to get it so slide on ice. I have gotten more miles on these tires than any other tire I have ever had, including those with a high mileage rating. The only complaints I have is that they have some road noise that has increased with the miles, they squeal in tight turns on hot pavement, and the ride is not the smoothest (I like the feel of the road though).

With all of that said I am not sure I am going to purchase the same type to replace the OEM. The reviews on here are not very good, the tire retailers don't recommend them, and they do not have a mileage warranty.

...Wet traction is dangerous, and my traction control is always kicking in in rain, and sometimes even in dry...

These came stock on my Genesis Coupe 2.0T. Drove 30,000KM in mixed driving in Toronto. If you live in Toronto, you will know how bad the roads are in downtown core. These tires are absolutely terrible. Comfort is a 2/10. Wet traction is dangerous, and my traction control is always kicking in in rain, and sometimes even in dry.

To put things into perspective, I've upgraded to Continental Extreme Contact DWs. Mind you, this is apples to oranges comparison, since the DW's are summer tires, whereas the RE92A's are All-Seasons... but aren't A/S supposed to be more comfortable? My new DWs are easily 5x more comfortable, and better all around, even during the fall in 9-degree (Celsius) weather. And my new DWs are on 19's with a 35-profile instead of the stock 18's, which had a 45-profile.

...Dry performance was good, but wet and snow/ice was terrible...

These were OEM tires on my 07 Subaru. The only good thing I can say is that I was able to get 120,000km (75,000 miles) on them. The worse thing I can say is that I had to use them for 120,000km! Dry performance was good, but wet and snow/ice was terrible. I would most certainly NOT purchase these again.

...They slip when cornering, hydroplane on the highway when it rains, and have zero traction in the snow/ice...

Awful tires. Subaru is making a big mistake using these as OEM tires. They significantly lessen the performance of the car. The Impreza is supposed to be a sporty car with great handling that does well in snow, but these tires are really holding it back. They slip when cornering, hydroplane on the highway when it rains, and have zero traction in the snow/ice. Bridgestone should just drop this tire from production. The only good thing about the tire is the quiet, smooth ride. As soon as summer comes around I am swapping them out. Do not buy this tire!!!!

...Dry traction is average at best but wet and or winter traction resembles that of a bobsled. Dangerous - I guess so. Not too bad in a straight line however if you plan on turning or breaking at some point get ready for the scare of youre life...

I dont know who is worse Bridgestone for making such a poor excuse of a tire (at a premium price I might add) or Infinity for actually putting these tires on my FX-35. Dry traction is average at best but wet and or winter traction resembles that of a bobsled. Dangerous - I guess so. Not too bad in a straight line however if you plan on turning or breaking at some point get ready for the scare of youre life. If a person were to build a drift car these are the tires for you because you will have no trouble what so ever getting them to spin - of course sooner or later there comes that turning thing I mentioned. On second thought I did find a wonderful thing these Bridgestone tires are excellent for. I live on a lake and they do make great bumpers for the boat against the dock. Thank you Bridgestone for wonderful boat bumpers. I would never buy these tires again and I also think Infinity should look into actually putting a tire on the FX that is worthy of the automobile.

...After driving/sliding home from the dealer through 80 miles of a snowstorm, I quickly decided that these tires had to go before something bad happened. Sure enough, three days later, these tires completely lost all traction at only about 5 miles an hour and my car slowly slid sideways into a group of mailboxes, scratching up my new car...

I had the RE92 on my previous 2002 Outback and was not impressed during the 33K miles I had them. (However, I never drove those tires in the snow.) I was disappointed to find these RE92A tires on my new 2007 Outback. After driving/sliding home from the dealer through 80 miles of a snowstorm, I quickly decided that these tires had to go before something bad happened. Sure enough, three days later, these tires completely lost all traction at only about 5 miles an hour and my car slowly slid sideways into a group of mailboxes, scratching up my new car. By then, I had already ordered four Dunlop Winter Sport M3 tires, but they didnt arrive until three days later. I was so angry about these dangerous tires that I simply gave-away these tires to the installer with only 400 miles on them! These tires are definately NOT all-weather tires at all!!!

...When things got cold, 15 degrees or less, things got much worse. Ice handling and braking was dangerous. At 10 mph making a right turn up hill on Icy+dirt road (about zero degrees F), they lost all traction and it cost me a new bumper (cheap Subaru WRX Premium plastic)...

Bridgestone and Subaru should be ashamed of the M+S rating on the Potenza RE92A tires. On warm, dry pavement they were pretty responsive and fairly quiet, but... On early season (i.e. 30 degrees F), very light snow, they were just ok. When things got cold, 15 degrees or less, things got much worse. Ice handling and braking was dangerous. At 10 mph making a right turn up hill on Icy+dirt road (about zero degrees F), they lost all traction and it cost me a new bumper (cheap Subaru WRX Premium plastic). A week later, on a city steet, at 5 mph, at 5 degrees F, they lost all traction again. This time I knew better and didn't hit anything but slid for 50 feet. Furthermore, some moderate snow on hills was a major (nearly impossible) challenge. They were so dangerous, that I got rid of them. I now have a new set of Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season tires. These new ones show great promise, even through 4 inches of total slush and 2 to 3 inches of standing water. My Subi WRX is now doing what I expected.

...I am at 28,000 miles and the tread is almost completely gone...

These are pretty poor tires. They have good traction on dry road (though that may be the AWD talking), but there are definitely tires out there that grip just as well, are quieter, and will last longer (not to mention the price of these things). Ice/snow driving was slipperier than expected, added caution was needed, but it was still drivable. I am at 28,000 miles and the tread is almost completely gone. There is no reason I can see to purchase these tires, and I wouldn't be caught dead with them if they weren't OEM.

Original Equipment on my wife's Subaru Outback. After 22,00 miles tey were completely spent. I expect much more from an OEM tire...shame on Subaru for picking it. IMO, this 4-cylinder, non-turbo car does not need a V-rated tire. I am very unimpressed and WILL NOT be buying it again based mainly on the extremely poor end mileage. They will be replaced by Michelin Primacy MXM4s H-rated.
