The Potenza S007A RFT is Bridgestone's Extreme Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, performance sedans and modern muscle cars who want motorsports-level performance for their warm weather vehicles. The Potenza S007A RFT was designed to provide temporary extended mobility for a distance of 50 miles at up to 50 mph even after a puncture has allowed complete air pressure loss and to deliver maximum capability in warm, dry and wet conditions. Like all Extreme Performance Summer tires, the Potenza S007A RFT is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Beginning with a summer-focused compound to maximize adhesion with the road, the Potenza S007A RFT is molded into a straight-rib, asymmetric pattern. The low-void design optimizes rubber-to-road contact in the footprint, and the wide, stiff ribs provide immediate steering response and high levels of ultimate traction. Notched, outboard shoulder ribs deliver confident lateral grip for high-speed cornering, and the low angle sipes reduce tread squirm for added control. The Multi Round Block design creates higher contact pressure for traction in wet conditions, and the chamfered blocks provide a flatter contact surface while braking to reduce dry and wet stopping distances. Wide circumferential grooves allow water to flow through the footprint, improving resistance to hydroplaning.

Internal construction of the Potenza S007A RFT consists of a polyester casing supporting two high-strength steel belts. A high-stiffness sidewall insert provides faster steering response and improve sensitivity to inputs. The high turn up casing results in a two-ply sidewall, and a hybrid aramid and nylon reinforcement ply further improves handling and provides high-speed capability.

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels, or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Extreme Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. While compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

Customers Say

Drivers consistently rate the Bridgestone Potenza S007A RFT as an outstanding dry performance tire, with multiple reviews highlighting exceptional grip, precise cornering, and track-ready stability. Enthusiasts praise its confidence-inspiring handling during aggressive driving and high-speed runs, with several noting improved traction over OEM tires. Wet traction earns positive marks for resisting hydroplaning in heavy rain, though some report reduced wet grip as tread wears. Treadwear receives mixed feedback-many appreciate its durability through heat cycles and track use given its 240 treadwear rating, while others note accelerated wear under extreme driving. Performance-focused users value its run-flat reliability and balanced capabilities for spirited street driving and occasional track days.

...When they are new you can expect excellent rain and dry traction. After about 8k miles they start to become more and more slippery...

Speed demon here. I daily drive a V10 7-speed coupe. And I drive the car to it's limits. Engine and brakes have been modified to accomodate. I needed a tire that was Y rated for high speed runs above 170 mph. I have used mostly 160 treadwear tires in the past. These tires would last me around 10k. This tire lasts slightly longer, at 240 treadwear but not by much. When they are new you can expect excellent rain and dry traction. After about 8k miles they start to become more and more slippery. They have nice stiff sidewalls because they are RFT's, and you have the added confidence of knowing that no matter what, they will not pop at 200 mph. That is a great thing to have if you like doing high speed runs like I do.

They last a little longer than the competition tires I used before. Overall I would prefer those tires but they were discontinued. I decided to give these a shot. I do not drive like most people. Performance and having fun with the daily commute is like my bread and butter. These tires are not the best for doing that. Semi slicks would be better. Higher grib and better cornering than these. Although the performance tires WILL be noiser. These tires are quite as a mouse. For 90% of drivers I think they will be just fine. For the select few who like to push their cars to the limit, get a semi-slick. Stop playing around.

...I did spend some time in heavy Florida rains and was happy with the minimal hydroplaning and still decent grip when accelerating...

These rear tires hook up very well compared to the stock Pilot Super Sports that came with the car. Being run flats they are a little noisier on the highway than non runflats but that is to be expected and I'm happy to sacrifice a little noise for the confidence of having the RF.

I did spend some time in heavy Florida rains and was happy with the minimal hydroplaning and still decent grip when accelerating.

Can't provide too much information on the tread life yet.

...After installing 245/40/18 S007A tires and putting on some 8.5 wheels, compared to the stock 8 wheels, the difference is night and day. The car hardly even breaks traction in first. Let alone all the way through second gear...

My GTI is fully bolted and has a stage 2 APR tune. Had the car tuned shortly before I got new wheels and tires. On some Yokohama all-seasons, the car would spin completely through second. After installing 245/40/18 S007A tires and putting on some 8.5" wheels, compared to the stock 8" wheels, the difference is night and day. The car hardly even breaks traction in first. Let alone all the way through second gear. Major improvement overall. The car feels much more planted with very little side to side sway when entering a corner.

...These Potenzas have a 340 treadwear which is slightly higher than OE tires on the Z51 Corvette. Probably a bit harder tire than I have been driving on my last few 'performance' cars...

After breaking the all 4 OE tires loose on a 50deg morning warm-up lap at Road Atlanta (should have read the TireRack reviews) - it was time to send them packing. These Potenzas have a 340 treadwear which is slightly higher than OE tires on the Z51 Corvette. Probably a bit harder tire than I have been driving on my last few "performance" cars. I do notice a bit more tire noise. I have not pushed these tires very hard - yet . I have driven them in hard rain without any tracking or traction issues but have not yet driven them in a Florida summer deluge but bases on experience to date, I don't anticipate any wet issues. I have not taken them to the track. When I do, it will be a warm/hot day and I will EASE into increased performance demands.

...Tread wear seem great, I could be happier with them...

Bought these tires as a replaceme for my stock Goodyear Eagle F1.
It's great improvement, grips a lot better and all around it seems a better built tire.Car corners like it's on rails, no fishtailing. I got the run flat version of this tire.
Tread wear seem great, I could be happier with them.

Best,
Renato

...They wear really well, they're very quiet, and they handle excellently...

These tires have been a good surprise.. I purchased them because the price was too good to pass up, but I wasn't sure how well they would perform. They do extremely well, are much better than the stock tires so far. They seem to wear really well, they're very quiet, and the handle excellently. Driving the Corvette in the rain ----s... these tires to relatively well, but still aren't great. But I really don't have anything bad to say about them to be honest... I would probably pay full price for them after having experienced them.
