The Turanza EL400-02 and Turanza EL400 w/UNI-T are Bridgestone's Standard Touring All-Season tires developed to meet the Original Equipment and replacement tire needs of drivers for their sporty coupes, sedans and vans. Turanza EL400 tires are designed to provide a luxury appearance, long wear and responsive handling along with dry, wet and year-round traction, even in light snow.

Bridgestone's Ultimate Network of Intelligent Tire Technology (UNI-T) features three core elements: CO'CS, a Computer Optimized Component System which allows design and manufacturing processes to work more cooperatively, leading to a more effective tire that doesn't significantly sacrifice one area of performance for improvements in another; O-Bead, a rounder bead structure that minimizes overlapped joints in the bead area for improved ride; and L.L. Carbon (Long Link Carbon) which helps the rubber compound resist microscopic tread tearing related to wear.

On the outside, Turanza EL400 tires features their tread rubber compound molded into a symmetric tread design with straight circumferential grooves to balance dry and wet road traction with noise comfort and hydroplaning resistance. On the inside, the Turanza EL400 features twin steel belts for strength and stability with a polyester cord body to enhance ride comfort.

*Specific sizes featuring UNI-T technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Why Gamble With Winter Tire Selection When Four of a Kind Always Beats Two Pair? (01:56)

Some drivers still doubt the industry's requirement for equipping front-wheel drive vehicles with matching winter tires all the way around. To address those doubts and demonstrate what can happen when mixed tires reach their limits on hard-packed snow and ice, we did some tests at our local skating rink.

Customers Say

Ratings data demonstrates the Bridgestone Turanza EL400-02 delivers solid dry traction (scores 7-8), with many customers praising its confident handling in dry conditions. However, treadwear raises concerns, with frequent mentions of rapid wear and lower-than-expected tread life. Comfort receives mixed feedback, as some note a smooth ride while others report road noise and harshness. Winter traction shows inconsistent performance, with scores dipping below 5 in icy conditions. Wet traction also draws criticism, with hydroplaning resistance and grip often rated 4-6. While suitable for standard all-season driving, buyers prioritizing longevity or harsh-weather performance may find limitations.

...Dry traction is fair, But these tires leave a lot to be desired...

These EL400-02`s were the OE tires on my Brand New 09 Civic EX-L Coupe. Despite careful maintenance and rotations, they only lasted 16k. At 16k these tires are completely shot. These tires are downright scary in the rain, they break loose and hydroplane very easily. In Snow and Ice the vehicle is barely controllable. They are very noisy especially at Highway speeds. When going over expansion joints it feels like you just hit a curb. Dry traction is fair, But these tires leave a lot to be desired.

I cant wait to get rid of these tires. I am very dissapointed that Honda put these garbage tires on my vehicle. I cant wait to replace these with the Yokohama Avid TRZ`s I just purchased.

These tires on my daily driver see 100% highway driving but I do dive into corners fast. These tires break away very predictably. Tires are very quiet at highway speeds. Sidewalls are not the stiffest but keeping the tire pressure at 40psi allows for a better steering response and excellent fuel sconomy. Very good tread wear, simply perfect for a daily commuter.

...But on a dry day on the highway I find them to be great. Smooth and comfortable,...can even find myself going a bit too fast even.

They came with the car so I keep buying them, thinking that VW knows best what to put on. They are very good except for snow. If I could find a tire that was better in the snow and handled the same, I would buy it. I love winter and like to be able to be out and about even in snow without worry. I find the these tires not so great at climbing snow covered hills. They loose traction on icy slush as well. But on a dry day on the highway I find them to be great. Smooth and comfortable,....can even find myself going a bit too fast even.

This is the OE on my Altima 3.5 SR. Although it is not bad on dry, very early on it proved to have very poor traction on the wet, and doesn't channel water well at all.

As you put on mileage, it becomes quite noisy when you approach 20000 miles. OE tires have been pretty bad for the vehicles I have had. I end up having so much more satisfaction with replacement tires and the car behaves so much better. I wish that we could have an array of tires to chose from when buying a vehicle. Tire companies would offer then a more competitive and satisfying product.

These are the OEM tires on my Mazda 3. They are not good tires. With approximately 4000 miles on them, I drove from Chicago to Aspen, CO. On that trip I passed through Nebraska on Rt 80, which is almost all cement. These tires made some awful noises on that cement, ranging from a moaning sound to a undulating howling. I was highly annoyed. On my way back to Chicago, when coming down from the Eisenhower Tunnel, I encountered rain, and surprisingly, hydroplaning! The tires were basically new at that point so I was not expecting hydroplaning. When I got back home I seriously considered replacing the tires, but I decided to stick it out. They're not bad for commuting as long as the road is dry; I'm still spooked by that hydroplaning so I take it easy in the rain. If you can find pavement to drive on, then the noise is not so bad either. Now 3 days ago we got 1.1 inches of snow. I was sliding all over the place (I was going approximately 10 mph, turned into my work, and the rear end slid out on me). When I parked I noted that snow had created sort of a snowball around the tread of the tire, which I guess means the tread is not clearing like it should (and maybe also explains the hydroplaning). The plus side of these? They seem to be wearing pretty fast. I expect they will need replacing before 40,000 miles.

These are the OEM tires on my 2014 Jetta TDI. They're actually not bad in the dry, with decent lateral grip and progressive breakaway characteristics. It all goes wrong in the wet though, as lateral grip is so poor in the rain it borderlines on dangerous. Half throttle from a stop in the wet is all I can do before wheelspin sets in. Treadwear has been outstanding, with 38K miles on these tires (almost all highway) and they're only half gone.

At the end of the day though, wet weather performance is so poor that I'm considering junking them and buying something that doesn't have me sliding around so much.

...After a few close calls driving in the snow on the tires, we never took the car out in winter after that...

These were the OEM tires on my wife's car. They were extremely loud and terrible in the wet. I would describe my experience driving the car on wet roads as scary. After a few close calls last year driving in the snow on the tires, we never took the car out in winter after that. With winter coming soon, we replaced the tires with Perellis and don't regret it one bit.

Dry traction/steering response is adequate.
Noise is terrible, especially on concrete surfaces.
Wet traction is terrible and nonexistant in snow/ice.

One of my winter tires went flat so I put these tires on the back of my front wheel drive Yaris... Bad idea. I've nearly lost control several times at low speeds due to the back sliding out.

I haven't had problems with wet traction as others have, but they do wear very fast. 40k miles, and they need replaced. Very poor cost to performance. I wouldn't recommend these even for the warmer climates.

...I live in Chicago, and so far these tires have been nothing short of terrifying in winter conditions. The car constantly loses traction, I have spun out on multiple occasions, and had too many near misses nearly rear-ending other vehicles...

When I bought a 2013 Subaru Legacy, I was expecting it to perform well as an AWD car. These tires came stock on the car, and are absolutely horrific. I live in Chicago, and so far these tires have been nothing short of terrifying in winter conditions. The car constantly loses traction, I have spun out on multiple occasions, and had too many near misses nearly rear-ending other vehicles. I also went on a road trip to Florida, and felt very uneasy with this car at highway speeds. During rain, the car hydroplanes all too easily and have spun out on multiple occasions. The vibration and road noise is terrible, so I need to crank up my radio in order to drown the road noise. I feel very blessed to have not been killed as of yet. I'm definitely getting rid of these tires before next winter, and am pretty scared of the next few months. I'm considering having my friend do donuts in a parking lot to destroy them once and for all. I don't know how Bridgestone managed to produce such garbage, as the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos that we have on both of our Nissan Pathfinders are some of the greatest tires we've ever used (though the stock Dueler H/Ts were garbage just like these Turanza EL-400s). If you're looking for all-season tires, do not buy these. In fact, if you bought a car with these, I'd suggest trashing them immediately since they are extremely poorly designed and very dangerous, even in an AWD car like a Subaru! Shame on you Bridgestone!

These are OEM tires. I have rotated them every 7-8k miles. Just i was told by the tire shop that they are 4/32 and I should start looking for a new set. I can unintentionally spin my tires when leaving a stop sign. This ia a 140hp car remember. Unless you like you like spending alot of money on tires every 30k miles dont buy these. I am quite perturbed that Honda would insult there new car buyers by placing such a horrible tire on the new vehicle.
