The ContiProContact is Continental's Grand Touring All-Season tire originally developed for European sport coupes and sedans sold in North America, and is now available for a wide range of imported and domestic cars. The ContiProContact is designed to blend good looks and handling with low noise and a smooth ride while providing all-season versatility and year-round traction, even in light snow.
The ContiProContact features an all-season tread compound molded into a symmetric, notched-rib tread design that provides continuous tread contact with the road to enhance steering response and handling while its wide circumferential grooves promote hydroplaning resistance and wet traction. Continental's PROactive Edge Technology places at least 800 arched edges in each ContiProContact tire's tread design to bring more active edges into the contact patch to promote stormy-weather traction while allowing the pattern elements to transfer smoothly from edge to edge to minimize on-road noise. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to stabilize the tread area promoting uniformity and high-speed durability.
*Specific sizes featuring low rolling resistance technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Testing New Grand Touring All-Season Tires (03:23)
Grand Touring All-Season tires are designed to blend a smooth, quiet ride with responsive handling, all while providing year-round traction. Admittedly, this can be a tight line to walk for tire designers.
We compared two newcomers to two popular options from the Grand Touring All-Season category to see how well the tires are optimized for all of the above.
Customer surveys indicate the Continental ContiProContact delivers a comfortable ride with low noise levels, earning consistent praise in these areas. However, treadwear scores show mixed results, with some customers noting rapid wear or disappointing tread life. Winter traction raises concerns, particularly on ice and in deeper snow, where ratings dip below expectations. Wet traction performs reliably with good hydroplaning resistance, while dry traction receives solid marks for confident handling. As a grand touring all-season tire, it balances everyday comfort and wet/dry performance but falls short in harsh winter conditions and long-term tread durability for some drivers.

...This ContinentalProContact has amazing on the ice to my surprise. Granted this sedan is Mercedes 4 Matic all wheel drive but on solid unsalted and sanded ice, the 2.5 ton beast didn't show ANY signs of slippage on regular city roads...
Just picked up my 2014 New Black/Black E 550 4Matic Sports Mercedes from Park Place Dallas. have 2603 miles on it and here in Dallas, we just had one of the worst Ice Storms in years (from Dec. 6-Dec 9) with temperatures still below zero. This ContinentalProContact has amazing on the ice to my surprise. Granted this sedan is Mercedes 4 Matic all wheel drive but on solid unsalted and sanded ice, the 2.5 ton beast didn't show ANY signs of slippage on regular city roads. Id did take it from Irving Texas where I live to the Whole Foods Market at Lomo Alto and the Dallas Tollway on December 7th, 2013 and as I crossed the 1/4 mile of suspended FROZEN roadway bridge connecting Irving to Dallas and traversing the Trinity River Basen, the Continental Pro Contacts didn't flinch. I was traveling over 30 miles and hour too over this bridge in the far left lane (as most drivers were doing like 3 mph in the right lane SINGLE FILE)...I simply can't drive that fast EVER..so I flew over this bridge which by the way, was COMPLETELY COVERED with what I call Cobblestone Ice (Chunks of Ice that have dislodged from the wheel wells of tractor trailers and cars and then packed down unevenly resembling cobble stones of solid ice) As I traveled over all these ice chunks at 30 MPH, the suspenstion and these amazing tires maintained a straight linear direction without ANY sign of waiver. Granted this $78,000.00 Benz has every safety feature known to the auto industry including Electronic Stability Control but NONE of these devises were activated (no yellow triangle on the dash) as I flew over this treacherous bidge. I did have white knuckles when I finally reached the other side but I'm a firm believer that with all 800 side edge notches and wide groves along the circumference of each Continental Pro Contact tire, the feat was really fun and I've developed alot of confidence with these tires. Perhaps the other drivers thought I was nuts flying over that icy bridge; tires were AWESOME!!!

...I live in a rainy climate and I found they handle wet highway driving and hydroplaning very well...
These tires cam OEM on my Golf, I bought the car 2 years old with 17000 km on it. The tires were ready for replacement at 70000km so basically they lasted 4 years on the road. I live in a rainy climate and I found they handle wet highway driving and hydroplaning very well.
When my car was at 35000km I had to drive approximately 80km a day in wet snow on the highway, and found them to handle far better than expected. They're obviously no the very best performing tire out there but overall I had no issues whatsover with quality.
Not one puncture in 2 years, and now at 70000km they are being replaced for another set.
Overall, for the price they are a good, comparable all season and I am quite happy with them.

...Prius's torque can make its wheels spin from standstill. The Contis prevent the spinning on dry surfaces most of the time...
These replaced oem Bridgestone's, which were terrible by all measures. Prius's torque can make its wheels spin from standstill. The Contis prevent the spinning on dry surfaces most of the time. Light winters so far, but still much better and surer traction in shallow snow. Will test this morning on slushy icey roads. These are not quiet tires, especially on a thinly insulated Prius. Otherwise, performance is just fine. Unless a much better tire comes along, I expect that I will buy these again in about another 20-30k miles!

...Dry grip and cornering are very, very good, especially for low-resistance rolling tread...
These tires came with the car, I didn't pay for them. As stock tires, they are acceptable but not overly impressive. Dry grip and cornering are very, very good, especially for low-resistance rolling tread. However, the tread is not without compromise as the wet grip (especially on roads that are only coated with moisture) is sub-standard for low-profile tires. I do drive aggressively, but even slowing down in wet conditions, I often find my car slipping and sliding at intersections. Looking to upgrade to Conti ExtremeContact sports when the tread on these eventually wears off, which might take awhile. Overall, the value of these tires is fairly good, and Continental makes quality products. If you drive conservatively and are looking for value and any measure of a fuel economy boost, these tires are worth considering.

...I will stick with these tire because it's a comfortable riding on short and long rides.
Just purchased another one the beginning of the month. Some how the sidewall was sliced. I will stick with these tire because it’s a comfortable riding tire on short and long rides.

Lasted a lot longer than I expected, considering past experiences with Continentals. They're comfortable-riding. Sidewalls started sagging at about 30,000, so the edges wore faster than the center of the tread, but most tires do that. Overall, I'm happy.

Winter traction shows concerning scores with many 0-4 ratings. Customers report slippery snow performance, unstable handling, and getting stuck. Lack of winter traction makes it questionable for all-season use.

...Unfortunately, these tires are just about useless in the snow with only 16,000 miles on them. They provide little to no grip especially when cornering or going up hill. I've driven several vehicles in heavy snow, both 4WD and FWD, and I've never experienced the lack of grip that these tires provide even in light snow...
These were the factory tire that came with my '13 Focus. They provide excellent grip in the dry especially in warmer weather. In the cold, they warm up in a reasonable amount of time. The cornering stability is very good in dry conditions. They are average in the wet. I've not experienced any hydroplaning. Unfortunately, these tires are just about useless in the snow with only 16,000 miles on them. They provide little to no grip especially when cornering or going up hill. I've driven several vehicles in heavy snow, both 4WD and FWD, and I've never experienced the lack of grip that these tires provide even in light snow. If you live in a climate where you never see snow, these might be a good choice. Otherwise, stay away, or get yourself a good snow tire to put on in the winter months.

These tires have been virtually useless in the snow. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a replacement tire.
These are the OEM tires on my 09 Milan. I was only able to get to 40,000 miles on these tires, and they are now in desperate need of replacement. For the first 15k miles or so the tires had good wet traction, but it has fallen off significantly since that time. The tires now easily spin when accelerating on all road surfaces when it is raining, and cornering has to be done at a near stop. These tires have been virtually useless in the snow. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a replacement tire.

I have followed all manufacturer recommended maintenance and at my 12k service my front drive tires were at 2/32nds and dealer said I needed to change them out while the back tires were at 7/32nds... There are a number of people who are reporting sub 15k miles on these tires and needing to replace!
I purchased my 2012 Golf TDI new from the dealer. I have followed all manufacturer recommended maintenance and at my 12k service my front drive tires were at 2/32nds and dealer said I needed to change them out while the back tires were at 7/32nds. They implied it was due to my driving habits. I bought a diesel car for MPG! Otherwise I woudl have bought a GTI or gone with something else entirely. I currently have these bald eagles on the back and waiting to figure out if the dealer or VW is going to help me out at all.
I would not buy these tires ever again and would strongly discourage anyone else for that matter. Check other reviews too. There are a number of people who are reporting sub 15k miles on these tires and needing to replace!
