The ContiProContact is Continental's Grand Touring All-Season tire originally developed for European sport coupes and sedans sold in North America, and is now available for a wide range of imported and domestic cars. The ContiProContact is designed to blend good looks and handling with low noise and a smooth ride while providing all-season versatility and year-round traction, even in light snow.
The ContiProContact features an all-season tread compound molded into a symmetric, notched-rib tread design that provides continuous tread contact with the road to enhance steering response and handling while its wide circumferential grooves promote hydroplaning resistance and wet traction. Continental's PROactive Edge Technology places at least 800 arched edges in each ContiProContact tire's tread design to bring more active edges into the contact patch to promote stormy-weather traction while allowing the pattern elements to transfer smoothly from edge to edge to minimize on-road noise. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to stabilize the tread area promoting uniformity and high-speed durability.
*Specific sizes featuring low rolling resistance technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Testing New Grand Touring All-Season Tires (03:23)
Grand Touring All-Season tires are designed to blend a smooth, quiet ride with responsive handling, all while providing year-round traction. Admittedly, this can be a tight line to walk for tire designers.
We compared two newcomers to two popular options from the Grand Touring All-Season category to see how well the tires are optimized for all of the above.
Customer surveys indicate the Continental ContiProContact delivers a comfortable ride with low noise levels, earning consistent praise in these areas. However, treadwear scores show mixed results, with some customers noting rapid wear or disappointing tread life. Winter traction raises concerns, particularly on ice and in deeper snow, where ratings dip below expectations. Wet traction performs reliably with good hydroplaning resistance, while dry traction receives solid marks for confident handling. As a grand touring all-season tire, it balances everyday comfort and wet/dry performance but falls short in harsh winter conditions and long-term tread durability for some drivers.

...But these all season tires are very good both dry and wet...
Installed on my Mercedes w221 4matic. Hands down the Best tires for this car and in MO. Prior set was Contiprocontact 2 summer tires they were awesome in summer and were not a problen in Boston winters too. But these all season tires are very good both dry and wet. Snow traction is equally good. Road comfort is awesome with very low noise. I highlt recommend these on Mercedes 4mayics.

...The tires worked well in heavy rain at highway speeds. There was no hydroplaning or traction loss in heavy rain.
I generally know which tire I want. But this time I played with the tire selection guide and went with their pick (Continental Pro Contact XL) for my first generation Odyssey van. My selection turned out to be their one and only pick! Never-the-less, I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised with how well the tire complements my vehicle.
Right off I noticed turn-in was significantly improved (steering response that is). The tires worked well in heavy rain at highway speeds. There was no sense of hydroplaning or traction loss in heavy rain. They also gave a great ride. And for being all season tires, they were quiet, too.
While I have studded snows for winter, I went for all season capability feeling it provides some insurance if I get caught out before getting the snows on.
Anyway, these are initial impressions from 2000+mostly highway miles. I do track day instruction so I tend to be pretty sensitive to tires and how they perform. At this point I'm really pleased and still a bit surprised at how well these seemingly plain Jane tires perform on my van.
Nice tire Continental!
Thanks for the pick Tire Rack!

...Great in wet weather... no hydroplaning/sliding around just safe and secure...
OE tires on my Golf diesel. Almost all foreign/domestic manufactures use this as an OE tire. All the car reviews about the Golf TDI said the ProContacts were noisy and harsh riding and from my experience the reviews were spot on! VW rotated them every 10k miles for the 1st 30k and I got 61k out of them with @ 7k miles of tread left(the tire has a 60k treadware rating). Excellent handling and high-speed stability (TDI Golfs are equipped w/ the GTI suspension). Great in wet weather... no hydroplaning/ sliding around just safe and secure. Noisy on concrete/rough pavement, bad impact harshness.

Most customers give the Continental ContiProContact excellent dry traction scores, with many 9s and 10s. Its Grand Touring design delivers responsive handling and confident grip in dry conditions. While a few lower scores exist, high ratings dominate, reflecting strong all-season performance.

...On dry surfaces and cornering again i couldn't get them to slip. They also stop very well in wet or dry conditions.
I put a set of these tires on my car front only, just before the worst rainstorm i have ever driven in. I drove them hard and was amazed how well they performed. I couldn't get them to slip or hydroplane. On dry surfaces and cornering again i couldn't get them to slip. I just gave this car to my daughter and am happy knowing that she has Pro Contact tires. They also stop very well in wet or dry conditions.

These tires have provided decent comfort and fuel economy on my Outback, along with minimal road noise. The tread is wearing evenly and still looks good. Overall, I'd say it's an above average tire. I haven't had any issues with handling and performance. However, I think there are probably tires better suited to the Subaru- so I'll make sure to check all options carefully when it comes time to replace them.

Winter traction shows concerning scores with many 0-4 ratings. Customers report slippery snow performance, unstable handling, and getting stuck. Lack of winter traction makes it questionable for all-season use.

...With the first snowfall, the tires allowed the car to handle about as well as a sled. The 2nd drive in the snow with these tires has me posting this review and shopping for replacements.
Bought the car as Certified Used, the dealer had replaced the tires with the OEM Contipro Contact tires. The tires performed very well throughout the summer, even in wet conditions. ...Driving on dry or wet paving is ok, but in snow - seems I have no control...
I bought the car used with 7,000 miles on it, so I guess they were on it since new. I have all but 16,000 on them now. nothing impressive about these tires which will be due to be replaced at about 20K. Driving on dry or wet paving is ok, but snow - seems I have no control. I cannot compare ride comfort/noise level because I have nothing to compare to.

While some customers rate treadwear highly with 8s-10s, numerous scores between 0-6 indicate disappointed owners reporting premature wear, rapid tread loss, and needing replacement earlier than expected.

These tires were OE at time of purchase. Although I can appreciate the handling with the tires, I am quite unhappy with the tread wear. At 27k I'm already looking for a new set. Live in S Fla, where the summers are hot, wet and endless, and I feel that these tires are not the best choice for extreme heat. Sure 'the traction is good, but at a cost. The softer rubber, although more tacky, just melts away on our hot streets. As for our "cold" snaps.. The tires do not perform well at all at temps below 60f.. They feel hard, jittery and lose quite a bit of air pressure.. Just don't like this tire.

...At just over 30k miles these tires are very much nearing the wear indicators and have become unsafe for driving in light snow. With a warranty of 65k miles, I wasn't expecting to have to worry about replacing tires for 4 or 5 years...
These came on my car from the factory so it wasn't really my decision to buy or not to buy. At just over 30k miles these tires are very much nearing the wear indicators and have become unsafe for driving in light snow. With a warranty of supposedly 65k miles, I wasn't expecting to have to worry about replacing tires for 4 or 5 years. Looking at the treadwear rating of 400, I find it really hard to believe that these tires have the same wear rating as the General Altimax HPs that I have on my 2003 Jetta 2.0L Sedan (wore for over 40k miles). I ended up buying Pirelli Cinturato P7's to replace these as they are: much cheaper, the highest rated in the All-season Grand-Touring category, and nearly double the treadwear rating. I would not recommend these tires to anyone, especially for the limited tread life, mediocre performance, and a price that is higher than higher-rated tires.

Junk! 10k and my mech says they are nearly worn out!...
Junk! 10k and my mech says they are nearly worn out! Road noise is absurd drowning out normal conversation on any textured surface. Three flats from small nails the diameter of a paper clip. When you remove them they are warped so they don't stand up on their own, belt shift? This is not due to rim outer spokes as they fall away from the heavy side of the rim and when you roll them they go into a turn rather than straight. The noise makes my car, Passat 2015 intolerable. Why would Volks ruin an otherwise great vehicle?
