Max Performance Summer tires are for serious driving enthusiasts who want a combination of a performance appearance, competent handling and Z-speed rated (or higher) durability with enhanced dry and wet traction. Often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on powerful sports cars, performance coupes and high performance sedans, Max Performance Summer tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

O.E. Max Performance Summer tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle's original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires' performance category and specifications.

Customers Say

Ratings data demonstrates the Continental ContiSportContact 2 excels in dry traction, with scores consistently 8-10 highlighting strong grip and responsive handling ideal for summer driving. Wet traction receives mostly 7-8 ratings, showing reliable performance in rain, though some note reduced confidence in heavy downpours. Comfort scores 6-8 reflect a generally smooth ride, though a few mention road noise at higher speeds. Treadwear is a notable concern, with frequent 0-5 scores indicating accelerated wear under aggressive use. While praised for delivering sporty dynamics in dry conditions, buyers prioritizing longevity may find its trade-offs significant for a max-performance summer tire.

...Dry traction was more like tires in the ultra high performance category but wet traction was awesome, similar to the Goodyear GS-D3s. Due to this wet weather traction, the tire had much great flexibility than other max performance, ultra high performance summer and all season tires...

Despite all of the negative review that I have read, I bought this tire and was impressed with its performance. Dry traction was more like tires in the ultra high performance category but wet traction was awesome, similar to the Goodyear GS-D3s. Due to this wet weather traction, the tire had much great flexibility than other max performance, ultra high performance summer and all season tires. I like using all types of different tires and it was much better than anticipated. Treadwear was consistent with the treadrating. I am not sure why everyone complains about it. You can expect 10,000 to 15,000 miles, just like the GS-D3 a similar outstanding max performance tire. I even drove cross country in the light to medium snow. I took a road trip from Texas to Iowa, across to Washington DC and it performed exceptionally for a max performance tire. Overall it performed almost exactly like a GS-D3, but with more flexible sizes, ie 295/30 19s. If you want max performance in the summer and do not want to change to winter tires and live in a populated area that gets rain, this or the Gs-D3s are the tire for you my friend.

...These tires have great traction and even with only 4/32nds left, they stick even in the wet. Amazing...

Wow....the reviews on here for all tires vary sooo much. One person loves a tire, and the next hates it. Hard to reconcile such wide variances.
I bought this car used, and these original tires were still on it......perhaps the person before me alternated winter tires with them, as the mileage is unreal....60, 000 on a performance tire.

These tires have great traction and even with only 4/32nds left, they stick even in the wet. Amazing.....
The only faults are a little vibration at 85 mph (they are 2009 tires with a lot of miles so that is hardly surprising) and they are a bit noisey, but again, wear, age and performance tire.

I will drive them a bit longer and then get some new tires.....but the Continentals, even worn, are very impressive indeed.

...Dry traction/cornering are excellent, with no squealing or howling and steering response is RIGHT NOW!...

First report on the SportContact 2. These replaced Michelin Pilot Sports and even though I went up an inch in rim diameter (to 18") and to a 40-series tire, the ride is excellent! It is firm, to be sure, but not at all punishing or jittery. Dry traction/cornering are excellent, with no squealing or howling and steering response is RIGHT NOW!

Tramlining is not a problem, though it is sometimes slightly noticeable on a very few sections of freeway around here. I do not yet have a lot of miles on them (and no wet weather), but if my first impressions hold true, these are great tires. Will report back after several thousand miles and some wet weather.

ACHTUNG: Wunderbar tires! Im running these on my Caddy CTS with Sport Package and they are stunning! Very sharp steering response, tracking and ultimate grip. Very quiet and stable. When you do reach the very high limits of adhesion, breakaway is smooth and predictable with no surprizes. What Im trying to figure out is how Conti gets all this performance, plus a really nice smooth ride quality. I can not imagine a better performance tire/value than these beauties.

...quiet and comfortable ride; quite an awakening to know its possible to get this level of refinement in Max performance tires. So far I only had 5000 miles on my car but it made this A4 with Sport Package ride like a dream

Couldnt figure out why all the Conti (except maybe the extreme) gets such bad feedbacks. I have driven on several cars with these tires on and they are one of the best tires I had experienced; S-03 best grip; Michilens lasted the longest; Pirellis P-Zeros are light and responsive; and these are just overall great in most categories. First thing I notice was the quiet and comfortable ride; quite an awakening to know its possible to get this level of refinement in Max performance tires. So far I only had 5000 miles on my car but it made this A4 with Sport Package ride like a dream and at the same time provide excellent grip is not the best around but a great tread off for far more refinement than most tires. Yes, tire wear could be a problem as my only past experience with even touring tires on C230 only lasted 35,000 miles so I am not expecting more than 20,000 miles from these; but then again only the Michilen will last noticeable longer anyways.

Continental tires are well perceived in Europe and Asia as great performance tire and often ranking high especially on subjective rating and are used by more high performance German Cars than most. I think people writing the comments are more brand orieted with other big name companies like Michilen, Bridgestone, Pirellis, and Dunlop. Trust me I love testing different tires and these are great if youre looking for a refined max performance tires.

...very quiet, smooth, predictable. Excellent handling, comfort, traction...

Ive driven performance cars and tires over the last 10 years..had many different brands, Michelin, Dunlop, Goodyear F1, and this tire is by far the best. Its very quiet, smooth, predictable. Excellent handling, comfort, traction. I cant comment on the treadwear yet with only 1100 miles. The tires appearance is really cool too..I get compliments on them. Ill definitely buy them again.

The Continentals were great performance tires - very stable in hard cornering, predictable near the limit. But they were down to the wear strips by 15,000 miles...I consider that to be very poor tread life, especially considering this car is driven mostly on the highway. Just installed Michelin Pilot Sports ordered from TireRack and find same, if not better, handling - and expect to get much longer life, I hope.

Back tires completly worn out with less than 11,000 miles. Front tires show little wear. Was expecting more out of the tires. If Continental or OK City Mercedes dealer does not warrant tires, will definitly not put another set on the car because of lack of mileage you get out of them. Expensive and DARN WELL NOT worth it!

These rear tires lasted only about 5000 miles... This pair is worse than the ones they replaced after only 5000 miles...

These rear tires lasted only about 5000 miles. Their wet traction is dangerous now. I rate my driving as spirited but haven't disabled the traction control so there is no reason these tires should only last 5000. No warranty. Dealer installed them because the pair before were to the wear bars. This pair is now worse than the ones they replaced after only 5000 miles. Bought the car used with the other set of tires on it so I do not know how many miles were on them. Figure if they wore as quickly as these whoever owned the car would have replaced them with something else. That is what I plan to do. My advice steer clear of these tires. Would not recommend.
