The ContiSportContact 3 is Continental Tire's Max Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of powerful sports cars, sports coupes and luxury sedans. The ContiSportContact 3 is designed to combine outstanding braking capability and agile steering precision. Like all summer tires, the Continental ContiSportContact 3 is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

ContiSportContact 3 tires feature an asymmetric design with solid tread blocks and a continuous rib on the outboard shoulder to improve responsiveness and cornering stability, while continuous intermediate ribs provide constant rubber-to-road contact to reduce noise and control the longitudinal forces experienced when braking. The continuous circumferential tread grooves help disperse water to resist hydroplaning and their asymmetrically angled walls further stabilize the tread ribs, increasing steering precision and reducing deformation while cornering. The notched shoulder blocks on the inboard portion enhance wet weather traction.

The tire's structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by nylon to stabilize the tread area and enhance handling as well as high-speed capability.

Customers Say

Customer ratings showcase the Continental ContiSportContact 3's outstanding dry traction, with scores frequently hitting 9-10 for precise cornering and responsive handling. Wet traction earns consistent praise (7-10) for reliable grip, though a few note reduced confidence in heavy rain. Comfort receives positive feedback for ride quality, though noise levels vary widely-some report a quiet experience, others mention noticeable road hum. Treadwear stands out as a concern, with many ratings (1-5) highlighting rapid wear, especially under aggressive driving. As a max performance summer tire, it excels in dry/wet conditions but may disappoint those prioritizing long-term tread life.

...These tires are very quiet, very grippy during my little bits of spirited driving, do very well in wet conditions and they don't seem to be wearing at all...

This tire has great traction above the ContiContactSport(1) version. Steering response is quick and noise and hydroplaning at this early stage is excellent.

However, the main problem is a squirminess/tramming at high speed that makes the car seem unstable and requires constant steering correction. For a high speed tire this is unaceptable. In adddition the wheel squirms and wiggles at low speed on startup it seems the tire may not be round. The steering wheel twitch is giving good feedback, but my be objectionable to many. The same physics in the back of the car, makes for unstable movement at higher speeds.

Yes, the car is aligned perfectly, and the tires are balanced.

...Great tire, smooth riding, extremely quiet, high grip - wet or dry - good price!

I use these tires for track days and weekend sport driving. I consider the Michelin PS2 to be the gold standard for this type of use but purchased the Continental S.C.3s hoping to find similar performance at a better price. I just returned from an Audi Club DE at Road America and was very pleased with the performance of these tires. I am extremely picky about the weight of tires and wheels. The Sport Contact 3s in size 245/40/17 weigh only 21 lbs. This is a critical factor in the ride / handling performance of these tires as well as the P.S. 2s. Turn in sharpness with the Continentals seems to be just a tick below the Michelins with mid corner and exit tracking being nearly indistinguishable. Great tire, smooth riding, extremely quiet, high grip - wet or dry - good price!

...Superior traction in both wet & dry conditions. Amazing corner stability and braking...

Decided to go with the SC3's this time instead of the OEM SC2. WHAT A TIRE! Have had three sets of the two's covering this car and the previous A4 Avant Sport. The difference was noticeable immediately however I did observe the break-in period over the first 500 miles. Hadn't done that before so I can't say whether this made the difference or not. Superior traction in both wet & dry conditions. Amazing corner stability and braking. I would highly recommend this tire to anyone looking for a high performance summer tire. Thanks Conti!

...much better grip on dry pavement than the Pirellis ever had. With some typical hard AMG driving, there would always be splattered Pirelli rubber all over the sides of the car, despite traction control. At least at this point in time, the Contis are not doing this to any significant degree...

I just replaced Pirelli PZero Nero with the ContiSportContact3. My car is rough on tires, as it has a lowered suspension resulting in negative camber. It also has a performance package translating into 598HP/626TQ. Even new, I can say with confidence the Contis have a much better grip on dry pavement than the Pirellis ever had. With some typical hard AMG driving, there would always be splattered Pirelli rubber all over the sides of the car, despite traction control. At least at this point in time, the Contis are not doing this to any significant degree. Noise and comfort seem fine given the 305/25-20 and 255/30-20 sizes on 20x11 and 20x9 wheels, respectively. Treadwear rating suggests these will last longer than the other few tires available in the 305/25-20 size (Pirelli & Yokohama at Tire Rack). And these are a bit cheaper too. I had these mounted and balanced at my home by AZ Mobile Tire, they seem to have balanced perfectly since there is no vibration at the steering wheel and tracking is stable. Anyway Im impressed and would definitely recommend these! Note: Since I live in the desert I cannot comment on how these perform in wet conditions.

...the three's corner beautifully, quiet, very responsive on my BMW, almost as good as the P-Zero's on our Porsche.

had original equipment conti contact sports for about 30,000 and rears were gone and fronts had about 6,000 left, but because of the hard ride, substantial corner sway, noise, and oiverall average performance i changed front and rear out. couldn't be happier with my decision so far the three's corner beautifully, quiet, very responsive on my BMW, almost as good as the P-Zero's on our Porsche.

...sticky the dunlops are better...u want more millage the michelins are better...u want best price for a very sticky tough tire that wears well than get these...

Im very picky. have used all tires you can imagine from dunlop sp sport maxxx(best grip better than sports) but out of all the tires i would say these are the best.i use a separate set for the winter of nokians which the sidewall has blown out 5 times on those. these ride smooth, are very tough, have great wear life, dont cup on a AWD as almost every other time will except micheling pilot sports. use these on a volvo s60R which has over 300hp and i love em. great tire if u want sticky the dunlops are better...u want more millage the michelins are better....u want best price for a very sticky tough tire that wears well than get these......im not saying this and have used michelin mx4s and such as a lot of reviewers i have used tires from almost every manufacturer and i tend to buy the most expensive and i would say these are the best in their bracket, also remember continental makes over 80% of the stability systems and braking systems in the world so they know what they are doing (yes yes brembo makes the most rotors and calipers) but conti designs them and they uses manufacturers parts they design the system and electronics.....hope this was useful......i live in MA and our roads suk and these take the beating from potholes

...Excellent tread wear, undetectable road noise, very comfortable ride: I have 21 wheels on my DB9 which is a 2 inch step up from the stock wheels and my ride is the same if not slightly even better than the smaller tire/wheel setup...

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! Continental Sport Contact 3 needs to get much more credit than it's getting. I have had Pirelli P-Zeros, Yokohama Advans and Bridgestone Pole Poisitions and these are by far the best tires yet. Excellent tread wear, undetectable road noise, very comfortable ride: I have 21" wheels on my DB9 which is a 2 inch step up from the stock wheels and my ride is the same if not slightly even better than the smaller tire/wheel setup.

Yokohama really needs to change the Advan's old technology. Continental is always high tech and comes out with a new ContiSport every few years and the quality really shows. I recommend these 100%. I have 295 in the rear and 255 in the front.

This tire came from the factory on my Mercedes C350 Sport. Not a bad tire, however, the treadwear is poor. For the cost you would expect the tire to last a little longer than it does. I enjoyed riding on the tires but I'm going to have to try something a little more reasonable.

Average performance for a summer tire. Well-below average noise and wear. Only 8500 miles and will need to be replaced soon. My winter Michelin's are much quieter and perform almost as well, unbelievable! Already cupping and have unusual wear on the outside edges. Don't even bother, almost anything else would be better.
