The SportContact 6 is Continental's Max Performance Summer tire developed to meet the engineering demands of vehicle manufacturers' highest performing models. Introduced to the U.S. as the Original Equipment tire on the exclusive Audi R8 V10 Plus, the SportContact 6 is designed to combine responsive handling, ultimate grip and high speed stability in dry and wet conditions. However, like all Max Performance Summer tires, the SportContact 6 is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The tread rubber of the SportContact 6 is Continental's Black Chili compound, which utilizes a special racing grade carbon black designed to interact with the texture of the road for maximum adhesion, in addition to quickly reaching operating temperature. The asymmetric tread pattern features a strong outboard shoulder with a closely spaced intermediate rib for lateral stability during at-the-limit handling. The continuous center rib provides uninterrupted contact with the road for solid on-center feel and responsive turn-in. The deep, circumferential grooves and lateral notches efficiently evacuate water from beneath the contact patch to resist hydroplaning.

Internally, a two-ply rayon casing supports two high-tensile steel belts. Continental's exclusive Aralon 350 hybrid cap ply reinforces the steel belts and helps maintain the tire's shape at high speeds for increased stability and control.

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

Continental ContiSportContact 5P Reviews

Drivers consistently rate the Continental ContiSportContact 5P as excellent in dry traction (9-10 scores) with precise cornering and responsive handling, living up to its Max Performance Summer intent. Wet traction earns strong marks (7-10), offering reliable grip in rain. Comfort receives mixed feedback, praised for smooth rides but noted for occasional road noise and firmness. Treadwear is a common concern, with lower scores (3-5) indicating faster wear than some expect. Ideal for drivers prioritizing dry and wet performance over longevity, this tire excels in its category while trade-offs in comfort and tread life are noted.

...The continentals did handle well and held corners very well for a 4800lb car. The awd traction in wet and dry was very good...

I continued putting these tires on my S8 since it was the OE tire, despite the 240 tread rating. These tires wear out extremely fast even in mostly highway driving and usual rotations. The noise level was higher and I didn’t realize until I recently switched to Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s. The continentals did handle well and held corners very well for a 4800lb car. The awd traction in wet and dry was very good. However the wear level was like owning a race car.

OEM tire on my 2016 S3. No complaints in performance. They've broken loose a few times but in a predictable manner. Wet traction exceeded my expectations. Drove 400 miles in a Texas thunderstorm on super wet highways and never once felt like they would fail me. After 15K they have 7/32 left, sure they'll last a while longer. They do seem a bit loud, I had Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric's on an 07 Cayman S that were much quieter.

On my Golf R and dry pavement, the Continental ContSportContact 5P tires grip impressively well. I don't push the car in the wet. The tires wore evenly but grew noisier as they wore. I'm not to the wear bars yet so the tires may get to 25000 miles, but by then they won't make for a pleasant. I'm trying Michelin Pilot 4S next.

I just got these on and I simply can not believe how well they grip. i had a set a run of the mill Falken on the rear before and these tire are just in a class by them selves. Comfortable ride, low noise and loads of grip and control. They really instill confidence in my cars abilities. Have been trying to get them to spin but can't do it with only 300 horses to the ground. AWesome tires and cheaper than the top guys. I would recommend to any one

Very happy, these are WAY more comfortable than the OEM Pirelli run flats I had before. Those Pirellis felt like I was driving on bricks. Incredibly harsh. These Contis are like a breath of fresh air. I am giving up probably a few tenths of cornering grip compared to the Pirellis but it''s probably not noticeable on the street or even on offramps, etc. The Contis are quiet, comfortable and provide more than sufficient grip for my needs. Unless you are autocrossing it seems to me you''ll rarely if ever exceed the limits of these tires. We''ve not had a ton of rain so my review on wet traction should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Lateral stability is great, no squirminess. And tire wear "appears" to be reasonable, again, I don''t have a lot of miles on these yet so I will amend this review in a year or so. But overall, I am really happy with these. In fact, when I needed to replace the Pirellis on my wife''s GLE 43 I ordered Contis for her too. And I had Contis on my older E350 a few years ago with no problems.

...For a Summer performance tire these tires are surprisingly quiet, firm ride but not hard and handling is superb which in my opinion is a well balanced tire.

I've been using these Conti sport contact 5P during warm months for 2000-3000 miles per year for the past 3 years. For a Summer performance tire these tires are surprisingly quiet, firm ride but not hard and handling is superb which in my opinion is a well balanced tire.
These sport contact 5P do not create that sway/correction on steering wheel that I used to experience as other Porsche Macan drivers been reporting.

Came as OE tires on my car. After only 7,000 miles of mostly city driving in a car that's never been tracked, tires are already down to 4/32" of tread. By this point they have become extremely uncomfortable, if you see any kind of imperfection on the road you will feel it guaranteed. Also normal balancing resulted in high-speed vibration on the OE wheels, I had to have them RoadForce balanced to get it sorted out.

In terms of performance, they are pretty high up there in dry conditions and fairly predictable in the wet (at least on an AWD car), never noticed any hydroplaning. I did notice something interesting though that's never happened to me before on any other tire, summer or otherwise: I drove in the country one very hot day and over some leftover bitumen scattered about from roadworks, I then discovered afterwards that these tires had a tendency to absorb the little pieces and end up with permanent craters in the tread. I ended up extracting the bits several months later and luckly they didn't get too deep, but did make me paranoid to drive over any kind of small stones after that.

That being said, between tread wear and the progressively worsening ride quality, I wouldn't go for these again.
