The CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology is Continental Tire's ecologically friendly Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire developed to help crossovers, sport utility vehicles and light-duty pickup trucks perform on the highway and in mild off-road conditions. The CrossContact LX20 is designed to enhance driving pleasure, save fuel and maintain grip when braking on wet surfaces while providing long wear and all-season traction, even in light snow.

The CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology uses an all-season tread compound featuring Continental's Tg-F Polymers and +Silane additives to improve treadwear, fuel efficiency and traction on slippery roads. The compound is molded into a symmetric tread design with notched outboard shoulders, independent intermediate tread blocks and continuous center ribs to blend on-road steering response and straight-line stability with reduced noise and enhanced ride comfort. Four circumferential grooves enhance wet traction while Continental's Traction Grooves (featuring ridges in the outboard grooves) promote three-dimensional snow-to-snow traction.

The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide on top of a polyester cord casing to combine strength with ride comfort. Most sizes of the CrossContact LX20 come with a flanged lower sidewall to help reduce the possibility of curb damage to expensive wheels.

Customer surveys indicate the Continental CrossContact LX20 excels in comfort, with a smooth ride and low noise earning consistent praise. Treadwear receives strong marks for long-lasting tread, though isolated reports of rapid wear appear. Winter traction impresses in snowy conditions, though ice performance shows mixed results. Wet traction delivers reliable grip and hydroplaning resistance, while dry traction earns top marks for stability and responsiveness. Ratings highlight its all-season versatility for crossover/SUV drivers, with most categories scoring 8-10. I am very impressed with the traction on dry and wet roads.

I replaced the General Grabber HTS I've had on had on my Escape since July 2009 and 75,000 miles with the Centennial Cross Contact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology and am 100 percent satisfied.

It's as if I went from an SUV to a luxury car. The ride is smooth and quite. I am very impressed with the traction on dry and wet roads.

I will most definitely buy these tires next time around.

These Continental CROSSCONTACT LX20 tires are among the best I've ever had the pleasure of driving on. They are smooth, quiet, precise, and handle exceptionally well in the Florida rain, even at full highway speed. I never felt like I was going to hydroplane, but I also didn't hit puddles on the highway at 70+mph. Driving normally on I-95 around 75-80 mph, with moderate rain, these tires make you feel safe and secure. I worry more about what everyone else around me is driving on. Make sure you have your vehicle aligned properly. My alignment had been off slightly, but didn't think much of it, because tire wear was good. Once I had it realigned, these tires make my X5 feel like its gliding down the road. I had a set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus XL and those tires are the worst I've ever owned. I'm not sure how they are so highly rated on Tirerack. I had 2 flats with them and never in my life have I had a flat, let alone 2 tires from a set get cut and I drive 25,000+/yr. I switched to these once the Pirelli started to get noisy around 50k. I was not a fan of Continental tires, but this CROSSCONTACT LX20 model has me sold. I've had them on since 11/17 and have around 6-7k miles on them. I'll update again in 11/18 to see how they're holding up.

Got to admit, haven't been a huge fam of Continental in the past, but these are fantastic. Stable in the dry and simply locked down in the rain. Was caught in an intense thunderstorm shortly after purchasing and ran through a few 5-7 inch deep puddles at speed and no hydroplaning. Impressive.

Great comfort etc... I will report back about the wear.

Good luck with your shopping.

Wow, with 215,000 miles on the truck I have bought my fair share of tire, but these take the cake. In the summers I surf fish and find these tires (although not rated) as superior in sand. In the winters we routinely travel to upstate NY and VT and while we have only been once this year and only had them in deep snow and ice 3 or 4 times this year, WOW they are great!! Traction is awesome, hardly need 4wd but when enabled I don't think anything can get these tires spinning. NO complaints, perfect tires, I have owned the factory Pirelli's and Bridgestone Duelers they cant compare to the performance of these tires. If you are on the fence, BUY them. About ready to purchase same set, different size, for my 08 Outback.

...Excellent dry traction (no opportunity in 2 weeks to test on wet road)...

These tires replace a set of Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza that are about 6 years old with 5/32 tread depth and significant cracking on sidewalls and between the treads. After having the tires mounted and balanced, I immediately took a 1,100-mile road trip with three passengers, our camping gear, and the gear for a fourth person in our group who was travelling separately. The Continentals are noticeably quieter and more comfortable on the highway than the Bridgestones. Excellent dry traction (no opportunity in 2 weeks to test on wet road). I averaged 18 MPG for the whole trip -- about the same as before. I am very pleased so far with these tires.

...Only other negative is Fuel mileage dropped by about 2 MPG over the factory Continental TR but felt it was worth the tradeoff for a smooth, quiet ride with great wet and dry traction. Almost the perfect tire for me.

Replaced factory Continental TR tires with these. I really like the Continental CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology in all aspects except tire wear. Wore to wear bars in less than 30,000 miles. Religiously kept good alignment, checked air pressure every 2-3 weeks, rotated often, etc. They have an even, flat wear pattern and so I am perplexed by the high wear rate. I like the reduced noise and great ride these tires have but can't justify replacing with the same ones. Only other negative is Fuel mileage dropped by about 2 MPG over the factory Continental TR but felt it was worth the tradeoff for a smooth, quiet ride with great wet and dry traction. Almost the perfect tire for me.

...I live in Germany and most most of the mileage was done in the autobahn at high speeds (75-90 MPH)...

Amazing tires!! Ive used this tire for 2.5 years and around 40000 miles. I live in Germany and most most of the mileage was done in the autobahn at high speeds (75-90 MPH). It gave me a 1 MPG increase in mileage and the noise level is very low. I had a set of Yokohama before this one and they had to be replaced after 1.7 year. It rides very well in low and medium snow. I was able to climb hills I was not able to with the Yokohama's. It is time for them to be replaced now and I will be buying this tires again. I hope you make a good decision and purchase this tires, you wont regret it!

...These Continentals show promise, giving better gas mileage, a smoother ride, lower noise and more precise handling on demanding mountain roads after a thorough test under dry conditions...

Bought these after OEM Michelins were worn out at 35K miles. Michelins are my usual choice for replacements but those that came on the vehicle wore out way too soon, considering that my cautious wife was the only driver. These Continentals show promise, giving better gas mileage, a smoother ride, lower noise and more precise handling on demanding mountain roads after a thorough test undercadmittedly dry conditions Granted, it is early - but given the performance of the Michelins the Contis already exceed expectations.

...I just removed my LX20's for the winter and have now realized that my tread wear indicator shows only 7/32 to 9/32 left of tread after only 9000 miles, this means that at 20000 miles or less I will have to replace them with another set. I have owned and tested many tires from many manufacturers including continentals in the past, although these tires seem to be very well designed I am disappointed with regards to tread wear, this was the main factor of my decision to purchase these tires...

6 Months / 9000 miles later.
Driving habits 90% highway / country road 10% city
Very conservative driving in terms of tread wear
Purchased a set of 4 new LX20 tires after taking several months of reading customer reviews to replace my OEM goodyears.
Strong points of these tires :
Almost no rolling noise/resistance, great tires in terms of fuel consumption
Excellent traction in dry or wet, good traction for snow on dry pavement, average under wet snow slick roads and ice.
Weak points :
Tread wear life
Tread design has a tendency to collect small pebbles and rocks (however no adverse effects in terms of flats )

I was very impressed of these tires and had high hopes since after reading hundreds of consumer reviews. I just removed my LX20's for the winter and have now realized that my tread wear indicator shows only 7/32 to 9/32 left of tread after only 9000 miles, this means that at 20000 miles or less I will have to replace them with another set.
I have owned and tested many tires from many manufacturers including continentals in the past, although these tires seem to be very well designed I am disappointed with regards to tread wear, this was the main factor of my decision to purchase these tires. These tires are very good and much better than most others however had I known that the tread would wear out this quickly I would have opted for Michelins, which I will probably purchase next time, although the Michelin's are slightly more expensive my past experiences in terms of tread wear have been more than excellent. I guess there's some for the good and some for the bad, if you don't drive 20000+ miles / 30000+km per year For most these tires may be more than suitable however in my case the strong point I expected turned out to be the weak point I didn't expect, asides from that the tires are higher than average and for the price may be the best bang for the buck but if you are looking for long tread life maybe Michelin's still appear to be the brand to beat
