The CrossContact LX is Continental's Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire developed to help crossovers, sport utility vehicles and light-duty pickup trucks perform on the highway and in light off-road conditions. The CrossContact LX is designed to reduce noise and rolling resistance* while enhancing ride comfort and all-season traction, even in light snow.
The CrossContact LX molds Continental's Tri-net silica tread compound into an asymmetric tread design that delivers all-season handling and traction. Its notched outboard shoulder supported by a continuous circumferential rib promotes on-road steering response, straight-line stability and ride comfort. Three rows of independent central tread blocks featuring interlocking sipes enhance traction in light snow while four broad circumferential grooves feature a tapered profile (widening at the tread surface) to enhance hydroplaning resistance and reduce the possibility of tire damage from stones becoming caught in the tread design. Continental's Acoustic Alterra Technology, derived from the study of sound over all surfaces, helps reduce road noise.
The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts to provide strength on top of a polyester cord body that helps cushion the ride. All sizes of the CrossContact LX come with a flanged lower sidewall to help reduce the possibility of curb damage to expensive wheels.
*Specific sizes featuring low rolling resistance technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

The tires are still new (less that 1000mi) but I have driven them in heavy downpours as well as dry surfaces and they handle perfectly at any speed. No hydroplaning or even a hint even at 65 to 70mph. I had to slam on my brakes this morning in the rain and they stopped as if I was on dry pavement!...

These tires are remarkable! I was skeptical that a $535 out the door set of tires would be any good, but I could not have asked for more. My primary concerns were rain handling and smoothness with quiet ride. All tires should handle well in dry weather.
These are fantastic and I highly recommend them. This is my second post on these tires.

...Great handling and stopping on both dry and wet roads. Smooth quite ride on all pavement surfaces...
These tires are a great product. Great handling and stopping on both dry and wet roads. Smooth quite ride on all pavement surfaces. The cornering stability and steering responsiveness is amazing. Driving in snow is very good and they exceeded my expatiations in deep snow. They are a safe tire on ice but if you want to conquer the ice covered roads mount a good set of ice & snow tires on your vehicle. I have owned these tires for 18 months 60% of the driving has been on highway and 40% city. Gas mileage on the highway for my 4.7L V8 is 20 mpg.

...Wet traction is great. No hint of hydroplane on interstate during a downpour...
This tire is awesome. My two previous tires were OEM Dunlop & Bridgestone. No comparison. The Cross Contact LX is superior. I can take corners way too fast now. Steering response is great. These tires make my 4 Runner feel nimble. Wet traction is great. No hint of hydroplane on interstate during a downpour. Very quiet ride. Tire is too new to judge tire wear.

...Handled snow and poor road conditions well... Earned my trust on a terribly snowy night drive on I-81 from North Carolina to Pennsylvania, while so many others found themselves in the ditch.
Very happy with this tire despite returning it for tread-life warranty claim at 33k. Handled snow and poor road conditions well, and offered confident handling in dry conditions. Earned my trust on a terribly snowy night drive on I-81 from North Carolina to Pennsylvania, while so many others found themselves in the ditch.

...So far, these Cross Contacts feel terrific on the Cayenne. If they go the distance, and they feel good in the snow - we havent had a good storm yet to tell- Ill be swearing by these tires instead of at them.
I purchased these tires despite the fact that Porsche will only recommend an N rated tire for this vehicle, when you consider that all the N rated tires I found for this vehicle only had a treadwear of about 20-25K miles. This tires
is designated for more than twice that kind of mileage. My original equipment (N) rated Continental Contacts were gone at 18,000 miles. I stretched them a few more, which I dont like to do. So far, these Cross Contacts feel terrific on the Cayenne. If they go the distance, and they feel good in the snow - we havent had a good storm yet to tell- Ill be swearing by these tires instead of at them.

...Sticks great for my truck and in the city as well. Corners pretty well. As I drive a truck I have not pushed corners super hard but it does its job and hasn't squealed yet...
Already put alot of miles on this tire. Alot of highway driving. Sticks great for my truck and in the city as well. Corners pretty well. As I drive a truck I have not pushed corners super hard but it does its job and hasn't squealed yet. Only time it made any noise is when I first got them, put 500 miles on them and had a 6000lb load in the rear (vehicle trailer 2500lbs+ and vehicle 3500lbs+) and had to stop at a redlight after it just rained)

...With the wider tires I have fantastic grip and handling...
I replaced my Ameritrac tires (OEM) with these continentals and I am very happy. The OEMs lasted about 36,000 miles, but I did not have confidence with them. I have 17 inch wheels and the continentals did not come in my size. I had to get the 265x65-17s instead of the 245x70-17s that came on the truck. I wanted to maintain my speedometer reading. With the wider tires I have fantastic grip and handling. I tow a 5th wheel and the wider tires should help with stability during cross winds. I have not seen deep snow, but have seen some icing and some light snow. No problem. I am thinking of getting this same brand and model for my wife's Santa Fe.

...The tires have performed real well in stressful conditions, ( high speeds, 100 mph+). They corner well as well as providing good traction when I need it...
Tons better than the TRs Conti. VERY QUITE GREAT RIDE no noise at all. Others must be kidding when they say poor things about these tires. Its a new "ride". My wife even likes it.

Low noise level and great steering response...
Low noise level and great steering response, have driven in snow and ice with 4x4 on had no difficulties in getting around. The Continental LXs look much, much better than the Generals they replaced.

...very acceptable - dead quiet on smooth pavement...
I drive an 06 Honda 2WD Pilot, which was "squirrely" on the factory 16" wheels and skinny tires. I always drive on pavement, much of the time in the California coastal mountains. I havent driven this setup in snow or ice - so I cant offer an opinion on that. I put the Conti CrossContact LXs on Acura TL 17" wheels soon after buying the Pilot. The handling improved greatly - not quite like a Porsche (my other car), but surprisingly close. 255/60-17 is the correct size for accurate speedo/odo readings. Noise very acceptable - dead quiet on smooth pavement. Looks good too - fills the wheel wells just right, in my opinion. I would recommend the Conti CrossContact LX/17" wheel combination to any Pilot/Acura MDX owner who drives primarily on "CA pavement" like me.

...Very quiet and comfortable ride; better then original tires...
Tire felt stiff and a little harsh after installation. After a month they felt better. Very quiet and comfortable ride; better then original tires. MPG improved only slightly and mostly on highway. City driving MPG is the same. I'm happy with the product and the deal.

..."Treadwear looks good so far." Note: In this case, there are no specific phrases to bold as the statement is too general and only contains generic terms like "good" which don't meet the bolding criteria for specific performance terms, measurements, ratings, or comparative language related to treadwear performance...
A truly exceptional tire. Purchased these to replace OE Michelin Cross Terrains. Michelins were ok but expensive for me, so I was also considering the Contis and the Goodyear Fortera. Went with the Conti due to some favorable reviews and lower cost. These Contis provide great traction in all condions here in Florida with especially good Hydroplaing resistance. Super quiet and very smooth; the most perfectly balanced tires Ive ever had. Treadwear looks good so far.

...To give you an idea of the treadware, on my 6,000lbs truck, with the tires balanced properly and rotated every 6,000 miles, the Continental treads have worn just over 2/32in in 20,000 miles. Given that they continue to stay balanced and my front end aligned, I should easily get 75,000 miles out of these, which is exactly how long the Michelins lasted...
I went from Michelin XC LT4 to Continental CrossContact LX. The treadware, traction, steering response and cornering for the Continental is right on par with the previous Michelins. Ride comfort is a little reduced because the Continental rubber seems to be made out of a harder composite. As far as price, the Continentals are hard to beat. They were $300 cheaper than the Michelins and are basically the same in quality. To give you an idea of the treadware, on my 6,000lbs truck, with the tires balanced properly and rotated every 6,000 miles, the Continental treads have worn just over 2/32in in 20,000 miles. Given that they continue to stay balanced and my front end aligned, I should easily get 75,000 miles out of these, which is exactly how long the Michelins lasted. For $140 a tire, shipped, stemmed, mounted and balanced on a 6,000lbs truck, that is extremely hard to beat.
