The CrossContact LX is Continental's Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire developed to help crossovers, sport utility vehicles and light-duty pickup trucks perform on the highway and in light off-road conditions. The CrossContact LX is designed to reduce noise and rolling resistance* while enhancing ride comfort and all-season traction, even in light snow.

The CrossContact LX molds Continental's Tri-net silica tread compound into an asymmetric tread design that delivers all-season handling and traction. Its notched outboard shoulder supported by a continuous circumferential rib promotes on-road steering response, straight-line stability and ride comfort. Three rows of independent central tread blocks featuring interlocking sipes enhance traction in light snow while four broad circumferential grooves feature a tapered profile (widening at the tread surface) to enhance hydroplaning resistance and reduce the possibility of tire damage from stones becoming caught in the tread design. Continental's Acoustic Alterra Technology, derived from the study of sound over all surfaces, helps reduce road noise.

The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts to provide strength on top of a polyester cord body that helps cushion the ride. All sizes of the CrossContact LX come with a flanged lower sidewall to help reduce the possibility of curb damage to expensive wheels.

*Specific sizes featuring low rolling resistance technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Many highlight its confident wet grip and winter capability, though a few note reduced ice traction. Tread life receives praise for longevity in most cases, though some report rapid wear. Steering responsiveness and stability in dry conditions stand out as highlights, aligning well with its touring focus. ...Great handling and stopping on both dry and wet roads. Smooth quite ride on all pavement surfaces...

These tires are a great product. Great handling and stopping on both dry and wet roads. Smooth quite ride on all pavement surfaces. The cornering stability and steering responsiveness is amazing. Driving in snow is very good and they exceeded my expatiations in deep snow. They are a safe tire on ice but if you want to conquer the ice covered roads mount a good set of ice & snow tires on your vehicle. I have owned these tires for 18 months 60% of the driving has been on highway and 40% city. Gas mileage on the highway for my 4.7L V8 is 20 mpg.

The tires are still new (less that 1000mi) but I have driven them in heavy downpours as well as dry surfaces and they handle perfectly at any speed. No hydroplaning or even a hint even at 65 to 70mph. I had to slam on my brakes this morning in the rain and they stopped as if I was on dry pavement!...

These tires are remarkable! I was skeptical that a $535 out the door set of tires would be any good, but I could not have asked for more. My primary concerns were rain handling and smoothness with quiet ride. All tires should handle well in dry weather.

These are fantastic and I highly recommend them. This is my second post on these tires.

...Wet traction is great. No hint of hydroplane on interstate during a downpour...

This tire is awesome. My two previous tires were OEM Dunlop & Bridgestone. No comparison. The Cross Contact LX is superior. I can take corners way too fast now. Steering response is great. These tires make my 4 Runner feel nimble. Wet traction is great. No hint of hydroplane on interstate during a downpour. Very quiet ride. Tire is too new to judge tire wear.

...The traction in snow was superb... I hardly ever put the expedition in 4-wheel drive last winter...

Excellent tire for the money. There are no signs of wear and tear on the tires which have been rotated twice already. The vehicle is extremely quiet and the traction in snow last winter was superb. I don't drive the expedition like a sports car so I cannot comment on the cornering but the handling in rain and snow is outstanding. I hardly ever put the expedition in 4-wheel drive last winter.

I strongly recommend this tire and I wish they would make the same tire for my wife's Subaru outbak

Great traction in snow and ice. Added a little weight in the back of the pick up and have not needed to use 4 wheel drive... Traveled 40 plus miles in every winter storm this year including PAX with ease.

Great tire. Got these right before the winter hit. Couldn't be happier. Great traction in snow and ice. Added a little weight in the back of the pick up and have not needed to use 4 wheel drive. Saving on gas. Traveled 40 plus miles in every winter storm this year including PAX with ease.

...Very predictable, solid handling in Lake Tahoe-area snow and ice, very good handling in the rain, much better dry traction than the Integrities...

The OEM Integrity tires were more than done at 43,000 miles. Will update as we put mileage on them, but the early reviews are excellent. Very predictable, solid handling in Lake Tahoe-area snow and ice, very good handling in the rain, much better dry traction than the Integrities. I was initially bummed by the raised white letters; however, they are relatively small and look fine. Really beefy sidewalls and tread blocks put the old, tired-looking Integrity tires to shame - these really look like they were built for a good-sized SUV like the Pilot. Very smooth-riding and quiet tire for the performance.

I love the dry traction but was totaly shocked with the great wet performance of these tires and the cornering ability...

I live in North Florida and dont have to worry about snow, but do have heavy rain to deal with. I love the dry traction but was totaly shocked with the great wet performance of these tires and the cornering ability, also for towing there is very little sidewall flex. cant beat the price either.

The tires are much better than the Good Years that they replaced

...very acceptable - dead quiet on smooth pavement...

I drive an 06 Honda 2WD Pilot, which was "squirrely" on the factory 16" wheels and skinny tires. I always drive on pavement, much of the time in the California coastal mountains. I havent driven this setup in snow or ice - so I cant offer an opinion on that. I put the Conti CrossContact LXs on Acura TL 17" wheels soon after buying the Pilot. The handling improved greatly - not quite like a Porsche (my other car), but surprisingly close. 255/60-17 is the correct size for accurate speedo/odo readings. Noise very acceptable - dead quiet on smooth pavement. Looks good too - fills the wheel wells just right, in my opinion. I would recommend the Conti CrossContact LX/17" wheel combination to any Pilot/Acura MDX owner who drives primarily on "CA pavement" like me.

Tire felt stiff and a little harsh after installation. After a month they felt better. Very quiet and comfortable ride; better then original tires. MPG improved only slightly and mostly on highway. City driving MPG is the same. I'm happy with the product and the deal.

...They are extremely quiet and make the highway drive a pleasure! ... These tires feel firmer in the response of the truck and the way that it drives and yet doesn't transmit the majority of the harseness of the road.

I have had Geolanders and the Michelin LTXs on this vehicle. I now have 80K miles on it and these new Continentals (LXs) are the best tires that I have had so far! I only have about 600 miles on the new Conti's, but I've put them through the snow, ice, freeway, dry and wet in those miles. They are extremely quiet and make the highway drive a pleasure! While we were on the mountain skiing - it was snowing - we had about 4 inches of snow on top of ice, chains were required on all but 4 wheel drive vehicles (but recommended). We were following friends - their car was struggling for traction even with chains. We on the other hand had no chains and no need for chains - the truck never broke traction, even pulling some of the steep driveways we were on. So I would highly recommend these tires and with a treadware of 680 I should get some excellent mileage on them as well! These tires feel firmer in the response of the truck and the way that it drives and yet doesn't transmit the majority of the harseness of the road.

...After 15000 miles, there are no signs of treadwear. They still look brand new!... Of course, I wont have to go looking for new tires soon since the treadwear is so good.

Great tire! I bought this tire because of the low price and good ratings. I was definitely not disappointed. This tire is great in dry, wet, and icy conditions. Ride comfort and noise level were great too. I could easily hear the radio while I drive. After 15000 miles, there are still no signs of treadwear. They still look brand new! This tire is also one of the better looking tires on Tire Rack. I will definitely buy this tire again and recommend it. Of course, I wont have to go looking for new tires soon since the treadwear is so good.

...I have rotated these tires every 5-6K miles and had them rebalanced at 14K. They show no wear after 21K...

This is a follow up to a very positive previous review I wrote shortly after buying the Cross Contact LX tires last year.

This tire has been excellent for my type driving... mostly around town and on the highway in an area with frequent heavy snowfall (Central New York) in the winter. These tires have been outstanding in all conditions, both summer and winter. Smooth and quiet on the highway and no problems in any level of snow. Of course I do have 4WD, but almost never need to use it.

I have rotated these tires every 5-6K miles and had them rebalanced at 14K. They show no wear after 21K. While I have always been skeptical of Continental tires these have been a pleasant surprise. I have 95K miles on my Tahoe and the first 75K were on noisy Goodyear Wrangler A/Ts that chopped early on.

I highly recommend these tires and would definately buy them again.

...They have approx. 40k on them and still halfway to the wear indicators. I do a lot of highway driving and rotate and balance regularly, but they have had excellent even wear...

I purchased this tire from tire rack due to its price and most importantly its rating. I have never had a Conti prior to this, but heard it to be a good choice for full-size SUVs. I am more than pleased with its performance and wear. They have approx. 40k on them and still about halfway to the wear indicators. I do a lot of highway driving and rotate and balance regularly, but they have had excellent even wear. One of them got a nail in it a few months ago, and I was hesitant about replacing it so far into the mileage, so I kept it. I havent noticed any difference in noise or ride. I will definitely consider purchasing again.
